The battle between the Ancestor and the King Lord was not something Yang Kai could casually interfere in. After clashing for so many years, both the Yin Yang Pass Ancestor and the Twilight King Lord knew each other inside and out. The outcome of this battle had long been decided.
It would either end in a stalemate or mutual destruction. There was no third possibility.
However, the Twilight King Lord held the advantage of familiar terrain and might gain a slight edge. But expecting him to completely pin down the Yin Yang Pass Ancestor was entirely unrealistic.
An Ancestor-level powerhouse who was determined to flee had no effective counter even from a King Lord. Just as years ago, outside Biluo Pass, the severely wounded Mo Clan King Lord had managed to escape—the Biluo Pass Ancestor still hadn't been able to stop him.
The shockwaves from the two powerhouses clashing behind him swept through the vast void. Even though Yang Kai had immediately activated the Spatial Laws to distance himself from the battlefield, he could still feel the violent impact.
It filled him with yearning—what year, what month would he ever reach the Ninth-Order Supreme Realm?
Yet he knew this goal was far too distant. After all, when he had advanced to Open Heaven, he was only Fifth-Order. Though he had consumed a mid-grade World Fruit to advance to Sixth-Order, his ultimate ceiling was merely Eighth-Order. To reach Ninth-Order, he would have to find the Qiankun Pill—something born of heaven and earth, forged within the Qiankun Furnace.
That was no easy feat. The Qiankun Furnace drifted beyond reach, and no one knew when it would appear.
Banishing the distracting thoughts from his mind, Yang Kai pressed forward through the void toward Yin Yang Pass.
The Ancestor had said the Yin Yang Pass army was already deployed. If he wanted to survive, his only chance was to link up with the army and stand against the Mo Clan together. But the road ahead would be fraught with obstacles, and Yang Kai didn't know whether he could rendezvous with the army safely.
Fortunately, the Twilight King Lord was currently held in check by the Ancestor's intervention. Without the Twilight King Lord personally in pursuit, his chances of escape had improved dramatically.
He retrieved a handful of spirit pills from his Minor World and swallowed them, recovering his strength as he traveled.
Again and again he activated the Spatial Laws, his form flickering and shifting through the void.
Whenever he encountered Mo Clan forces blocking his path, he refused to engage—fighting only when absolutely cornered.
After a full day of this, Yang Kai had traversed billions of miles. He was drenched in blood, both his own and that of the Mo Clan. His appearance was wretched beyond description, yet Yin Yang Pass still lay far in the distance.
After all, he had fled from the Mo Clan's king city. Returning to Yin Yang Pass—even with the aid of the Spatial Laws—was a long journey.
His energy was severely depleted, but Yang Kai dared not stop for even a moment. No matter where he fled, Mo Clan forces had been stationed ahead to intercept him. The Mo Clan's Mo Nests had an extraordinary advantage in intelligence transmission—anything that happened in any location could be relayed across all areas covered by the Mo Nests in mere moments.
Fortunately, he hadn't encountered any Domain Lord-level Mo Clan on his flight. That gave him room to maneuver. If he truly ran into a Mo Clan Domain Lord, in his current state, he might not be able to shake them off.
Then again, it made sense. Mo Clan Domain Lords were equivalent to human Eighth-Order masters—there weren't many of them. And with the Yin Yang Pass army mobilized, the Mo Clan Domain Lords were likely occupied arranging their own defenses, leaving them no spare energy to target him.
Half a day later, Yang Kai's form flickered and he materialized abruptly in a stretch of void. But before he could steady himself or survey his surroundings, he felt a gust of killing intent rush toward his face as auras locked onto him from every direction.
Yang Kai started slightly, realizing his luck had run out—he had dropped right in front of a Mo Clan intercept force.
Yet he had experienced this several times during his flight, so while alarmed, he did not panic. His body swayed slightly, evading the strike that came without warning while simultaneously widening the distance between himself and the attackers.
Looking around, he saw numerous Mo Clan warriors closing in. Most of them wore expressions caught between delight and bewilderment—his sudden appearance had clearly caught them off guard.
Yang Kai cursed under his breath. His luck was terrible this time—he had landed squarely inside a Mo Clan encirclement. He would have to fight his way out.
"I knew you were no good—and now it's clear I was right!" A sharp shout rang out from nearby, its voice familiar.
Yang Kai turned his head and saw a hunched-over Mo Disciple glaring at him viciously. The one who had launched the sneak attack moments ago was none other than this person.
"Liu Zi'an!" Yang Kai raised his eyebrows in surprise.
He hadn't expected to run into Liu Zi'an here. After leaving Black Abyss, he had assumed they would never meet again—who would have thought there would be another encounter? He glanced at the nearby forces, and his gaze settled on a Territory Lord leading the group. Sure enough, wherever Liu Zi'an was, Ghost Fang was also present. After all, Liu Zi'an was nominally Ghost Fang's Mo Disciple.
Among the other Mo Clan, there was also a Territory Lord whose face looked somewhat familiar—Yang Kai felt he had seen him somewhere before.
These were clearly all Mo Clan forces under Black Abyss's command.
In an instant, Yang Kai understood. He had been fleeing toward Yin Yang Pass the entire time, and without realizing it, had circled back into Black Abyss's territory.
Black Abyss was not here. Yang Kai couldn't sense his presence, which greatly eased his mind.
"Surrender now—you can't escape!" Liu Zi'an snarled at Yang Kai.
