The Void Yin-Yang Mirror had been born from a flash of Yang Kai's inspiration, a crystallization of his years spent cultivating the Laws of Space.
The artifact came in two sets—one Yin, one Yang—essentially the front and back of a mirror, inseparable. If both were deployed successfully and the distance was right, activating the artifact's power was equivalent to flipping the mirror, swapping Yin and Yang. In this way, long-range, large-scale transportation could be achieved.
The conditions in the Black Domain had been far too harsh, which was why the Void Yin-Yang Mirror had been specially refined to address that specific situation. Now that all the mineral stars within the Black Domain had been fully excavated, Yang Kai had assumed this set of artifacts would never see use again. He never expected that here, on the Ink Battlefield, the Void Yin-Yang Mirror would still have a purpose.
It was an unexpected bonus.
Over on the other side, he had deployed the Void Yang Mirror. Here at Biluo Pass, naturally, he needed to deploy the Void Yin Mirror.
After half an hour, the eight formation pieces of the Void Yin Mirror were all set in place.
Zhong Liang watched silently from the side. He could naturally perceive the subtle principle behind these eight formation pieces, each anchoring a different direction of space. He was quietly wondering which hand had forged them and what purpose they served when he saw Yang Kai suddenly flicker into the void above, his hands weaving a series of seals as he bellowed, "Rise!"
The moment the words left his mouth, the eight deployed formation pieces lit up one after another, humming ceaselessly. As each piece resonated, the space they anchored in eight directions began to twist and warp.
Dense spatial ripples surged outward from the void.
Zhong Liang raised his eyebrows, vaguely sensing that things had reached a critical juncture. He quickly focused his attention. Before long, a look of surprise crossed his face, because he seemed to detect threads of an extremely faint power arriving from a vast distance, resonating with the eight formation pieces laid out before him.
It was no illusion, because that resonant force grew stronger and stronger, rapidly becoming too powerful to ignore.
In the span of a heartbeat, Zhong Liang's eyes went wide as he stared in astonishment at the space ahead.
Where moments ago there had been nothing but the eight formation pieces holding down eight directions of empty void, a massive shadow had suddenly appeared, flickering in and out of visibility.
He almost thought he was hallucinating, but upon closer inspection, a colossal shadow was undeniably there, and it was growing more solid by the second.
In barely a dozen breaths, the flickering shadow solidified completely, fixing itself in place. The eight formation pieces dimmed, their glow fading as the resonance with the distant location was severed.
Zhong Liang's eyes bulged like bronze bells. He nearly bit his own tongue, shock written all over his face.
As an Eighth-Order Open Heaven cultivator who had lived for ages and fought the Ink Clan on the Ink Battlefield for countless years, he considered himself a man of broad experience. Yet what he witnessed today was something he had never even heard of.
What had materialized before him was a world—a star-shaped cosmos, enormous in scale. Compared to this world, Biluo Pass was barely a tenth of its size.
Though this cosmos was lifeless, already dead, it was undeniably a world.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—figures poured out of Biluo Pass like comets streaking across the sky, each radiating the formidable aura of an Eighth-Order Open Heaven cultivator. They had clearly sensed the disturbance and come to investigate. In an instant, all of Biluo Pass was thrown into a state of heightened alert, every soul bracing for battle.
"What's going on?" The East Army's Corps Commander, Ding Yao, flickered to Zhong Liang's side, his voice tight.
The North Army's Corps Commander, Shentu Mo, also asked, "Where did this world come from?"
A world appearing out of thin air right on their doorstep—it was far too bizarre. They had to get to the bottom of it.
Faced with the inquiring gazes all directed at him, Zhong Liang smiled bitterly, unsure how to explain. Moreover, he himself was still somewhat bewildered. Though he had formed a guess, he didn't dare confirm it, so he could only shout, "Yang kid! Get over here and explain!"
"Coming, coming!" Yang Kai called back as he teleported over from a distance. Once he arrived, he bowed respectfully. "Greetings, esteemed lords."
Zhong Liang waved his hand. "Skip the pleasantries. Tell us what this is about."
Yang Kai smiled. "It's exactly what you see before you. This world was in the resource extraction zone of Base Four just two hours ago. I used my abilities to relocate it here." His expression turned serious as he continued, "Here's my thinking: rather than having the people at the base risk their lives to extract resources, it would be far better to move all those worlds closer to Biluo Pass. That way, with the entire workforce of Biluo Pass available for mining, both efficiency and safety would improve dramatically."
The South Army's Commander, Liang Yulong, felt his eyelid twitch violently. "You're saying you moved this world here yourself? And it only took two hours?"
Yang Kai replied, "Strictly speaking, half a stick of incense. The two hours were spent on the preparation."
Ding Yao stepped forward, eyes gleaming. "Is that really true?"
Yang Kai gestured toward Zhong Liang. "Lord Zhong Liang witnessed the entire thing firsthand."
Every gaze turned to Zhong Liang, who nodded solemnly. "That's correct. I observed everything from start to finish. Don't ask me how—I don't know what method this kid used either. All I know is that he employed some artifacts."
While he spoke, Yang Kai had already extended his hand and beckoned. The eight formation pieces anchoring the eight directions instantly transformed into streaks of light, flying to his side and lining up in a neat row.
All the Eighth-Order cultivators leaned in to examine them with curiosity.
Yang Kai explained, "These formation pieces are one half of my artifact. The other half remains at the original location of the world. I call this artifact the Void Yin-Yang Mirror."
He then went on to explain the Void Yin-Yang Mirror's functions in detail.
