Although Yang Kai had been following the Giant Spirit A'Er into this chaotic dead domain for several years now, and had harvested a crystal vein during that time, it had only been a few zhang long at most.
But the one that Brother Yellow and Sister Blue had jointly captured this time was several li in length, and it emanated seventh-grade energy fluctuations.
Yang Kai's heart pounded with excitement as he praised his two little siblings while simultaneously sweeping the crystal vein—now split in two—into his Small Universe with lightning speed.
This was a seventh-grade Yin-element resource, and among all grades of resources, the seventh grade could be considered the most cost-effective.
With this experience, whenever another crystal vein appeared within his field of vision, Yang Kai would drop a hint, and within moments the crystal vein would appear before him.
His hauls grew more enormous by the day—already reaching a scale that defied Yang Kai's imagination.
The proprietress had once said that this chaotic dead domain was filled with Yin-Yang elemental resources, but who could have imagined that the resources here would be this abundant?
Days passed one after another. Every single day, Yang Kai raked in a fortune without spending a single thing—it just cost him a bit of saliva.
But that was hardly a problem. A few spirit fruits were more than enough to restore his energy. The spirit fruits planted in the medicinal garden within his Small Universe were plentiful; they didn't serve much purpose for him at his current level, so using them to soothe his throat was perfect.
He had assumed that this shameless lifestyle could continue indefinitely, and he had even steeled himself for a long-term campaign.
Then one day, without warning, Big Brother Yellow and Big Sister Blue got into another argument over some trivial matter. The cause was practically negligible, but fighting had become a habit between them—any tiny spark could set off a wildfire.
Yang Kai broke into a cold sweat trying to mediate, terrified that the two of them would come to blows right in front of him. Neither paid him the slightest attention.
After bickering for a long while, they both suddenly stopped at the same time.
Big Brother Yellow said, "This isn't fun anymore!"
Big Sister Blue nodded. "It really isn't."
Big Brother Yellow said, listless, "I'm done playing!"
Yang Kai smiled from the side and said, "Harmony brings prosperity, harmony brings prosperity. Why should a family fight? Come, come, come—today it's my turn to be the big brother."
Big Sister Blue turned her head to look at him. "You still want to be the big brother?"
Yang Kai blinked. "Well, yeah. It's my turn."
Big Brother Yellow let out a cold snort. "You've enjoyed the advantage for this long and you're still not satisfied?"
Yang Kai's smile turned rather awkward. These two weren't stupid after all—they had been playing along before simply because they found the game novel. Now that the novelty had worn off, of course it felt boring.
Fortunately, the hauls from these past days had been tremendous. Yin-Yang resources of every grade were piled into two great mountains inside his Small Universe—enough to sustain the Void Land's martial artists for tens of thousands of years or even longer.
"So what do we do now?" Yang Kai asked. If the game couldn't continue, they couldn't just sit here staring at each other.
"That's for you to say," Big Brother Yellow replied, regarding him coolly. "Tell us—who's older and who's younger? If your answer satisfies me, you can take everything you've already gotten. If it doesn't satisfy me, I won't kill you—but leave the goods behind, then get out of my territory!"
How could he spit back what he'd already obtained? Let alone such a vast, terrifying fortune! Yang Kai straightened up, nearly blurting out that heaven and earth were both big but the biggest was him.
He remembered just in time that Big Sister Blue was still standing right there, and the words caught in his throat.
Sure enough, Big Sister Blue spoke up: "I feel the same way!"
This brought them back to the original problem. During the game, both had taken turns being the big brother and big sister—but only relative to Yang Kai. Between themselves, they had never once determined who was older. This was an obsession that had persisted since the beginning of time, not something a little game could resolve.
Yang Kai knitted his brow, his expression grave.
No matter how he answered this life-threatening question, he would offend the other person. It was no longer a matter of his own survival, but of the enormous bounty he had already collected—making him weigh his words far more carefully.
Not having it was one thing; having it and then losing it was the greatest pain of all.
After a long while, Yang Kai chose his words carefully. "Why are you asking me about something like this? You two have always been competing—just figure out who wins, and whoever does becomes the elder."
Big Brother Yellow shook his head. "We can't determine a winner. Our strength is virtually identical—neither can defeat the other."
Yang Kai very much wanted to ask: if they knew they couldn't determine a winner, why had they been fighting this vast war that had raged for countless ages, spilling across countless great domains?
He didn't dare voice the question, lest the two of them fly into a rage from embarrassment.
Yang Kai found himself in a bind. Faced with this situation, if he couldn't come up with some compelling answer, everything he had harvested might be lost—and that was an outcome he simply could not accept.
Was there any way to satisfy them both?
Under immense pressure, a sudden flash of inspiration struck Yang Kai's mind, and he came up with a rather good plan. Whether it would actually work, however, he had no idea.
