Chapter 4795: Freeloading

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 944 words

Yang Kai reached out with a massive hand, channeling the laws of space to pull the blue crystal toward him.

Eighth Grade!

This head-sized blue crystal was actually an eighth-grade resource, significantly larger than any yellow or blue crystal Yang Kai had obtained before.

A blue crystal of this size was far beyond the worth of twenty billion Open Heaven Pills — at minimum, several times that amount.

Yang Kai was overjoyed. After turning it over in his hands for a while, he tossed it into his Small Universe.

His Small Universe was now divided into three zones. One zone was designated for the warriors who had migrated from the Pear Blossom Grotto-heaven, and it occupied slightly less than half of the entire Small Universe.

Another zone was for the Small Stone Clan. Yang Kai had great expectations for them, so naturally he had to provide these unique beings with an excellent living environment. This zone was the largest of all — even bigger than the space allocated to the warriors.

The third zone was the core herb garden.

Back when Yang Kai had been in the Small Mysterious Realm, he had established a herb garden there and transplanted many precious spiritual herbs and elixirs. When he advanced to the Open Heaven Realm, he had refined and absorbed the Mysterious Realm Bead, merging the Small Mysterious Realm with his own Small Universe. The herb garden had been perfectly preserved in the process.

This zone was not large, but it was where Yang Kai kept his most prized possessions. The many spoils he had accumulated from selling healing pills in Langya were stored here.

The herb garden was off-limits to both the warriors in his Small Universe and the Small Stone Clan alike. Without Yang Kai's permission, no one could approach it.

With his first catch boosting his confidence, Yang Kai continued standing atop A-er's forehead, his sharp eyes sweeping the surroundings like a hawk, not missing any possible opportunity.

Soon, Yang Kai spotted another blue crystal drifting past several hundred zhang away.

He repeated the same technique!

After repeated attempts, Yang Kai occasionally failed. Extending the Azure Dragon Spear too far made it difficult to control, and in this place, a Sixth Grade Open Heaven cultivation was completely useless. What was needed was a specific kind of finesse — only by mastering that subtle touch could one gradually move the drifting resources closer.

This also required tremendous patience. The slightest impatience could undo days of effort.

Facing a sky full of yellow and blue crystals, no one would lack patience, and Yang Kai was no exception.

Gradually, his technique improved until he never missed. Within a five-hundred-zhang range, he could move a target closer within two days.

Beyond five hundred zhang, a bit of luck was required.

However, since A-er remained motionless in his slumber, Yang Kai could only wait passively. How many resources he could gather was left to chance. Sometimes he would wait ten or fifteen days without a single blue or yellow crystal drifting past. Other times, several would come at once — there was no pattern at all.

Each time this happened, Yang Kai would target the largest and finest ones, painfully letting the rest go.

As time trickled by and Yang Kai estimated he had gathered roughly a hundred more yellow and blue crystals, A-er suddenly stretched with a great yawn.

The fellow had finally woken up!

Although Yang Kai hadn't been keeping close track of time due to his constant gathering of yellow and blue crystals, he estimated A-er had slept for roughly two years.

This brought him a measure of relief.

His greatest fear had been that this Giant Spirit might sleep for a thousand years or more. Two years was perfectly acceptable.

Yang Kai was even looking forward to what would happen next.

This Chaotic Death Domain certainly contained more than just the one shattered Universe World that A-er had consumed. There had to be more, and as long as A-er kept moving, he would have the chance to obtain even more yellow and blue crystals.

Waiting passively could yield results, but it was far less efficient than moving along with A-er.

However, after waking, A-er did not immediately set off as Yang Kai had hoped. Instead, he sat cross-legged in the void, staring blankly into space, motionless, as if someone had cast an immobilization spell on him.

Moreover, Yang Kai could clearly sense that A-er was inexplicably somewhat angry, his entire being radiating an extremely dangerous aura.

Yang Kai held his tongue like a cicada in winter.

He didn't even dare to move, unable to understand why this normally gentle Giant Spirit was acting this way. He could only watch helplessly as several fine yellow and blue crystals drifted past before his eyes, pretending not to see them.

A full ten or more days passed before the dangerous aura that had surrounded A-er gradually dissipated. The Giant Spirit stood up, turned his head to look in a certain direction, and took a step forward.

Yang Kai breathed a sigh of relief, his expression strange.

He wondered if this fellow might have morning anger? Otherwise, there was no explaining A-er's earlier behavior.

Giant Spirits could have morning anger too? Yang Kai wasn't sure.

But at least he was finally on the move. Yang Kai quickly rallied his spirits, standing atop A-er's forehead and scanning all directions.

Just like when they had first entered this Chaotic Death Domain, as A-er walked, countless yellow and blue crystals drifted past on all sides. Yang Kai locked onto target after target, reaching out to seize them from time to time.
