"ROAR…"
A dragon's roar tore through the air as a violent, crushing pressure swept outward like a physical force. Bodies flew in every direction, and in an instant, Yang Kai was exposed in the center of the crowd.
At this moment, Yang Kai's face was bruised and swollen beyond recognition, wretchedly disheveled. His eyes had puffed up until they were narrowed to mere slits. He glared furiously at the assembled crowd and snarled through clenched teeth: "You're going too far! Do you really think I'm someone you can push around? Anyone who dares step forward again shouldn't blame me for showing no mercy!"
The Open Heaven Realm cultivators who had been shoved aside stared at him for a long moment. Then, without a single word, they lunged at him again in perfect unison.
"Shameless!" Yang Kai cursed, his body plummeting downward. After dropping several hundred zhang, he banked sharply and broke into a headlong dash toward a particular direction.
Behind him, a massive spread of brilliant lights pursued like shadows, and one divine ability after another rumbled toward him. Someone roared: "Don't let this brat get away!"
Yang Kai dodged desperately, feeling as though he had been swallowed by an ocean of Langya disciples. The ones chasing him simply couldn't be shaken off.
Having tasted what happened earlier, Yang Kai didn't dare stop for a second. If he got surrounded again, it would be another round beatdown. However strong he might be, he couldn't possibly handle so many Langya elites all at once.
What's more, there was no real life-or-death grudge between them. Yang Kai simply couldn't go all out.
Langya Blessed Land had been passed down for countless ages and had been counted among the Seventy-Two Blessed Lands since ancient times. But in all those countless years, it had never seen a day as lively as this.
On a spirit continent, a group of low-ranking Langya disciples were listening to an Open Heaven Realm uncle-master lecture on cultivation.
These disciples were all below the Emperor Realm. Though their current cultivation was modest, they were the future of Langya. The lecturing uncle-master was a Fifth-Order Open Heaven, and his teachings were both deep and accessible, greatly benefiting the students below.
He had just reached the most exciting part when a streak of light suddenly shot overhead with the speed of lightning.
Everyone looked up in confusion.
The uncle-master barked with authority: "The path of cultivation brooks the least distraction! At all times, you must maintain unwavering focus!"
"Yes, sir!" the disciples replied respectfully, quickly straightening up to listen attentively.
Swish swish swish…
Another large wave of lights flew overhead. Amid them, someone shouted: "Quick, quick, quick! Senior brothers up ahead, cut that brat off! He played with Junior Sister Gu's feelings, took everything, and now he won't even admit it!"
"What?!" The uncle-master's face darkened with rage. He shot to his feet. "Someone actually played with Junior Sister Gu's feelings? What shameless scoundrel would dare do such a thing!"
With that, he rocketed into the sky.
The group of disciples sat below, exchanging bewildered glances. What happened to "the path of cultivation brooks the least distraction" and "maintain unwavering focus at all times"?
The uncle-master suddenly made a U-turn, came back, and addressed them: "Class is dismissed for today. Go back and continue your cultivation on your own. Your uncle-master has important business to attend to. I'll resume lectures tomorrow!"
And off he went again.
The disciples erupted into a frenzy. One of them said: "Did you hear that? One of the uncle-masters just said someone played with Uncle-Master Gu's feelings. Who is this Uncle-Master Gu?"
"I know!" a female disciple piped up. "She's the one who was promoted directly to the Sixth Order—she has the potential to become an Eighth-Order Open Heaven in the future. Her standing in our Sect is extremely high."
"Who on earth has the guts to do such a thing!"
"That person is surely doomed!"
"Hmph, if I ever run into this fellow, I'll teach him a lesson good and proper! I can't stand men who abandon women after leading them on! If I were to find a good man, I'd stay with him for the rest of my life!"
"Who's abandoning women after leading them on?! Who are you talking about?!" A voice suddenly rang out from behind the group.
The disciples turned around, their faces full of surprise. There stood a young man with a bruised, swollen face and eyes narrowed to slits, glaring at the one who had just spoken.
"Who are…?" That disciple eyed him warily.
Never seen this guy before. Where did he come from?
Before he could figure it out, the young man slapped him. An immense pressure descended from the heavens, and the speaker was slammed flat onto the ground, splayed out like the character for "big."
"An Open Heaven Realm cultivator!" the disciples gasped in horror.
Yang Kai snorted coldly: "I hate people like you the most—clueless gossips who run their mouths! Junior Sister Gu and I are perfectly innocent! There was no abandoning anyone!"
This was the guy all the uncle-masters were chasing! How did he end up here?! Then who were the uncle-masters after?
A female disciple didn't hesitate for a second. She channeled her energy and screamed: "Uncle-masters, help! The scoundrel is right here!"
Though the female disciple's strength wasn't particularly high, she had still reached the Emperor Realm. Her shouted call carried far, and the Open Heaven Realm cultivators in the distance heard it immediately.
They had been chasing and chasing, only to lose sight of Yang Kai entirely. They'd been searching in every direction when the cry reached them, and they instantly doubled back. A vast sweep of brilliant lights flooded into Yang Kai's vision in the blink of an eye.
Yang Kai's teeth ached, his liver ached, everything ached. He glared at the female disciple, but she actually glared right back without the slightest trace of backing down.
"Fine, fine, fine—you're all real pieces of work!" Yang Kai spat through gritted teeth, then promptly turned and fled.
