Eating alone was rather unsightly. The Ancestral Spirit Fruit was far too precious, and it would be of use to the Azure Luan as well.
The Azure Luan smiled and said, "Just take it. At my level of bloodline growth, the Ancestral Spirit Fruit can no longer help me advance. It's the same as growth in the Sky-Opening Realm — the higher your grade, the more you need long ages of slow accumulation. Now that the Demon-Sealed Land has been opened, the Ancestral Spirit Power in the Ancestral Land will be inexhaustible from now on, and my cultivation will have no issues. Your bloodline power, on the other hand, still has tremendous room for improvement. The Ancestral Spirit Fruit will be of great use to you."
"Then I won't stand on ceremony. Thank you, Senior!" Yang Kai happily put the Ancestral Spirit Fruit away.
They continued onward, and Yang Kai kept his eyes peeled in every direction, hoping to find more Ancestral Spirit Fruits. But even for this Ancestral Land that had been sealed for countless ages, the fruits were not something one could find just anywhere. Aside from that first fruit tree, they discovered nothing more.
However, as the two ventured deeper, both Yang Kai and the Azure Luan noticed something unusual. The Ancestral Spirit Power here seemed to be drawn by some unknown force, converging toward a single direction.
When they had first entered the Demon-Sealed Land, this phenomenon had been too faint for either of them to detect. But the deeper they went, the more pronounced it became.
Both feeling uneasy, they followed the trail in that direction.
After roughly half an hour, the eyes of both the Azure Luan and Yang Kai narrowed sharply. Stretching from a distant point as far as the eye could see was an enormous chain, visible to the naked eye, extending into the void and vanishing from sight.
The chain was impossibly long, stretching who knew how many tens of thousands of miles, and was so thick it defied belief.
What was even more astonishing was that the chain was no physical object. It appeared to be a manifestation of pure energy, and the aura radiating from it felt profoundly familiar to both the Azure Luan and Yang Kai.
The two flickered to the chain's end and sensed it in silence for a moment. Yang Kai's expression changed. "Senior, this chain is formed from condensed Ancestral Spirit Power?"
The Azure Luan nodded with a grave expression. "Indeed."
Yang Kai drew in a sharp breath. The Ancestral Spirit Power within the Demon-Sealed Land was already incredibly dense — like comparing clouds to mud when measured against the conditions outside in the Ancestral Land. And yet, before his very eyes, there was an enormous chain manifested entirely from that power.
Neither the Azure Luan nor Yang Kai would have believed it if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes.
In the primordial era, the Dragon and Phoenix clans had split the Ancestral Land and sealed the Demon-Sealed Land. The Ancestral Spirit Power here had further taken on the form of a chain. What kind of secret was hidden here? And what was this chain locking down?
The Azure Luan raised her gaze toward the chain's far end, her deep eyes seeming as though they could pierce through the void. But even with her perception, she could not discern what lay on the other side. As far as vision reached, the chain's distant end was shrouded in layer upon layer of mist, obscuring everything.
"Let's go take a look!" With those words, the Azure Luan enveloped Yang Kai in her power and streaked toward the far end.
A full hour or more passed before the two finally arrived before a colossal entity.
Floating in the void, staring at the titanic figure before them, both were struck dumb.
The colossal entity was humanoid, with a bald head, sitting cross-legged between heaven and earth like a divine mountain. And around its body, enormous chains pierced through its flesh — the chain that the Azure Luan and Yang Kai had followed was merely one of them, driven straight through its chest.
There were no fewer than sixteen such chains!
By now, quite a few Sacred Spirits had already made their way here. Clearly, they had all ventured deep into the Demon-Sealed Land just as the Azure Luan and Yang Kai had, spotted the chains, and traced them back to this place.
Many of the Sacred Spirits had reverted to their true forms — bodies spanning hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of zhang. Yet before this titanic figure, even they were as small as ants! They buzzed around the colossal entity like flies and mosquitoes, inspecting the situation.
"A Giant God Spirit?" Yang Kai murmured.
The titanic figure before his eyes was unmistakably a Giant God Spirit. It looked no different from A-Da, the Giant God Spirit he had once seen outside the Star Realm. The only difference was that this Giant God Spirit's coloring was like ink — black as charcoal.
Yang Kai didn't know the full details of the Giant God Spirit race. The A-Da he had encountered hadn't been this color, and he couldn't say for certain that the race didn't have members of this type.
But still — that the very center of the Demon-Sealed Land had a Giant God Spirit sealed within it was nothing short of staggering.
Yang Kai had interacted with a Giant God Spirit before and knew how powerful that race was. The Giant God Spirits were among the most formidable races in all of heaven and earth. Even Sacred Spirits were rarely their match. Because of their overwhelming strength, their numbers were exceedingly small, yet every single Giant God Spirit was an invincible existence.
Moreover, their temperament was gentle. Since ancient times, they had fed upon worlds that had been shattered and destroyed, never provoking trouble on their own initiative. Ordinary people who provoked them might as well have been scratching an itch for all the effect it had.
The questions he'd had upon seeing the chain were now answered. What the chain had locked down was, in fact, a Giant God Spirit.
Yang Kai couldn't imagine what must have happened in the Ancestral Land during the primordial era for the Sacred Spirits to seal a Giant God Spirit here.
This Giant God Spirit was probably already dead. After all, so much time had passed. Even a being as powerful as a Giant God Spirit, sealed here and subjected to the corrosive power of the Ancestral Land for so long, could not have survived. Yang Kai sensed not the slightest trace of vitality from its body.
