"Find anything?" Xia Linlang asked through voice transmission.
"A few leads. See for yourself." As he spoke, Yang Kai flicked a single Heaven Opening Pill from his fingertip. Under the influence of the Space Laws, the pill drifted slowly forward like a willow catkin.
Xia Linlang watched intently. Before the pill had floated three feet, it abruptly vanished.
At the same time, on another space fragment dozens of miles from Yang Kai, the disappeared Heaven Opening Pill reappeared out of thin air.
Xia Linlang's eyes widened in realization. "Spatial teleportation!"
Yang Kai nodded. "Watch again."
This time he flicked out over a hundred pills at once. Just like before, they drifted slowly forward under the influence of spatial power and soon disappeared from sight.
But when they reappeared, the result was completely unpredictable. A dozen or so pills showed up on surrounding space fragments, while the rest vanished entirely beyond sight.
Xia Linlang murmured thoughtfully, "The teleportation is random?"
"Should be." Yang Kai nodded. If it weren't random, the hundred-odd pills he had just sent out would have all appeared in the same place. The fact that only a dozen or so showed up on various fragments meant the rest had been teleported to locations far beyond their field of vision.
Xia Linlang finally understood. That explained why the torrent of divine abilities chasing them earlier had kept flickering and shifting between fragments — it was precisely because the teleportation was random and impossible to predict. The divine abilities kept getting shunted from fragment to fragment until their energy was finally depleted and they dissipated into nothing.
Now that she had figured it out, Xia Linlang felt a chill run down her spine. It seemed she and Yang Kai had been quite fortunate. If any of those divine abilities had been teleported to the very fragment they were standing on, they would likely have been done for.
"The spatial order here has completely broken down — it defies all conventional logic. So even though we seem close to each other right now, in reality we could be hundreds of thousands of miles apart, or even more."
Xia Linlang's expression shifted slightly. She hesitated. "Can you get to me? Or should I come to you?"
Yang Kai shook his head. "There could be millions, even tens of millions of space fragments here. With the spatial order in total disarray, there's no way to control the direction of teleportation. Even if you stood perfectly still, I might not reach you even after hundreds or thousands of years."
Xia Linlang let out a bitter laugh. "So we're trapped here?"
Yang Kai flashed a grin. "Still better than before. At least there's no danger."
"I suppose that's true." Xia Linlang relaxed slightly.
Yang Kai suddenly seemed to remember something and turned his gaze in a particular direction. "Almost forgot — we've still got pursuers on our tail!"
Just as his words fell, a tall and imposing figure abruptly came into view — it was none other than Divine Lord Shengyang, who had been chasing them all along.
At this moment, this being — one of only a handful of supreme powers in all of the Broken Tian — looked utterly disheveled. His robes were in tatters, his hair tie had been knocked loose, and his black hair hung in wild disarray over his shoulders.
His entire being radiated a towering fury, like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
His journey had been nothing short of humiliating, and how could Divine Lord Shengyang not be enraged? With his Eighth-Order cultivation, he had personally intervened to capture a mere Sixth-Order cultivator — it should have been child's play. Yet ever since entering the Broken Ruins, he had been forced to trail behind Yang Kai, cleaning up his mess along the way.
The sheer number of divine abilities and secret techniques he had deflected along the path was beyond counting.
Now, just as when Yang Kai and Xia Linlang had first fled to this area, a massive torrent of multicolored divine abilities surged behind him in hot pursuit. And the scale of it dwarfed what Yang Kai and Xia Linlang had faced — by an unimaginable margin.
Yang Kai clicked his tongue in admiration, thinking to himself that this was truly worthy of an Eighth-Order cultivator. His reserves were simply extraordinary. In the same situation, he and Xia Linlang might not have managed to escape.
Divine Lord Shengyang certainly looked disheveled, but at least he was still coping.
Upon arriving at this place, Divine Lord Shengyang spotted Yang Kai immediately and bellowed in fury, "Boy! I'll tear you to shreds!"
With that, he lunged straight toward Yang Kai.
Yang Kai ignored him completely.
In the next instant, Divine Lord Shengyang's figure vanished without warning, and the torrent of divine abilities trailing directly behind him slammed straight into the nearest space fragment.
Yang Kai barked a warning, "Watch out!"
