"This is a Killing Formation, and... I can't see through it. We shouldn't get too close. If we really end up trapped inside, I'm afraid it would mean certain death for both of us." Purple light flowed through Luan Baifeng's eyes as she stared ahead with a grave expression.
But Yang Kai was elated: "That's the one!"
As he spoke, he enveloped Luan Baifeng and flew off into the distance.
"What exactly are you trying to do?" Luan Baifeng couldn't help but ask. Yang Kai had been fantasizing about bringing back an ore star before, and now he was inexplicably searching for formations out here — his thinking was wildly erratic, leaping from one idea to the next.
Yang Kai replied offhandedly: "Most of the ore stars here are too large. With just the two of us, we probably can't carry them back, so we have to think of another way."
As they spoke, the two arrived before a small ore star. Luan Baifeng glanced at it and sneered: "Your brilliant idea is to find one this small to bring back? Fine, I suppose it could be mined for about a month. Maybe we'd pull out some decent treasures."
Yang Kai said nothing. He merely took a deep breath. Though there was no air in the void, his chest still swelled high.
A dragon's roar suddenly detonated through Luan Baifeng's mind. Dragon might suffused the air and she startled. Then, amid a series of crackling sounds, her field of vision involuntarily soared higher and higher.
What she saw left her stunned. Yang Kai was wreathed in golden light, transforming in the blink of an eye into a colossal being. Dragon scales covered his entire body, his dragon claws were razor-sharp, his dragon tail swayed behind him, the whiskers beneath his jaw fluttered in the wind, and two dragon horns jutted from his forehead. The terrifying pressure bore down on her chest like a mountain, making her blood stagnate and her heart quail.
Luan Baifeng's gaze went blank...
Before this behemoth that stood several hundred zhang tall, she felt as insignificant as an ant.
Yang Kai lowered his head to look at her, slightly bent at the waist, and extended one enormous dragon claw, commanding in a deep, authoritative voice: "Get on!"
Looking at that claw — many times larger than her entire body — even Luan Baifeng, iron-willed as she was, couldn't help but swallow hard. She numbly lifted her foot and stepped onto his palm.
Yang Kai straightened up again, cradling Luan Baifeng in his hand, and gently placed her on his shoulder. "Stay close to me! Don't stray too far!"
Luan Baifeng immediately clutched a raised ridge on one of the dragon scales on his shoulder, nodding repeatedly, as docile as an innocent little girl.
Deep within the Black Domain, without the protection of Yang Kai's Wood Element Divine Ability, her World Force would be drained completely in no time. So even without Yang Kai telling her, she would have clung tightly to him regardless.
But this display of his made her vaguely suspect that he was about to do something dramatic.
And indeed he was. Yang Kai inhaled and exhaled dragon breath, gave his head a slight shake, and reached into the void. His hand came away gripping his spear.
The Azure Dragon Spear had grown just as enormous.
With a flick of the Azure Dragon Spear, Yang Kai channeled his power and thrust forward, aiming straight at the small ore star.
The void trembled. Spear light blazed brilliant and fierce.
Luan Baifeng even wondered whether the ore star might shatter on the spot under that single thrust.
But Yang Kai clearly had no intention of destroying the ore star in front of him, so the force of the blow was calibrated with perfect precision. When the spear's might descended upon the small celestial body, it shuddered violently, and then, driven by that tremendous force, shot forward!
In the Black Domain, every ore star was perfectly stationary. But Yang Kai's power was so overwhelming that a single strike could set one of this size in motion.
Still, the speed wasn't particularly impressive.
Yang Kai followed right behind the ore star and thrust again.
Strike after strike, in rapid succession, the small ore star's speed grew greater with each one! And Luan Baifeng could see clearly that Yang Kai wasn't just using brute force to push the ore star forward — he was constantly adjusting its trajectory as well.
She suddenly raised her head and looked into the distance. There, directly in Yang Kai's path, loomed an enormous ore star. At this rate, the two were bound to collide.
Realization struck Luan Baifeng like lightning: "You want to use this small ore star to smash that big one apart?!"
Having figured it out, she was genuinely stunned by Yang Kai's wild imagination. She had never conceived of such a method — though admittedly, she had never before had the chance to come to a place like this.
It wasn't worth the effort to painstakingly haul a small ore star back, and a large one was simply impossible to move. But if the large one could be shattered into pieces, perhaps they could get what they wanted after all.
By now, the small ore star had built up considerable speed under Yang Kai's repeated strikes. He suddenly withdrew his spear and stood still, looking ahead and shaking his head. "The difference in scale is far too great. That big ore star won't break."
Luan Baifeng frowned: "If you knew that, why bother wasting your energy?"
