Back on the Sun Star, when
Unfortunately, the Innkeeper had deployed the Heaven and Earth Escape Technique to return to the First Inn ahead of him and block his path, forcing him to use one of his Myriad Demon Golden Feathers instead.
In terms of speed, even with the Laws of Space at his command, he couldn't outrun the Hundred Refinements Peak. Sooner or later, he would be caught. But with the Void Spirit Crystal's positioning ability, he could teleport across vast distances—breaking free from Red Star's people was trivially easy.
"Find him! You have to find him for me!" Zhao Baichuan's face was dark enough to drip ink, his furious roar barely contained.
Still, he wasn't overly worried. Yang Kai had temporarily gone off the radar, but he was still within this Great Domain. The other stronghold leaders had already sealed off the Domain Gate—there was no way Yang Kai could leave this Great Domain. That was nothing but a pipe dream.
From the Hundred Refinements Peak, figure after figure shot outward, searching for any trace of Yang Kai.
At some indeterminate distance away, a Void Spirit Crystal suspended in the void rippled with fluctuations of the Laws of Space, and two figures materialized out of thin air.
Yang Kai's eyes flickered. He didn't bother retrieving the Void Spirit Crystal, leaving it right where it was.
This crystal was one he'd placed during his earlier escape. He'd set up arrangements like this in over a dozen locations, spanning nearly the entire Great Domain. The Void Spirit Crystal was tiny—utterly inconspicuous against the vast expanse of the void. The chances of someone stumbling upon it were slim.
Leaving it here as a contingency might prove useful someday.
Yang Kai shook his head. "We can't get out. Chen Tianfei and the others have gone missing. If my guess is right, they've headed for the Domain Gate. If we try to leave, we're bound to clash with them. Your strength is nothing to scoff at, but they have the numbers. You might not be able to shake them off, and heading to the Domain Gate would be walking straight into a trap."
He paused, then asked, "How far along are you with the thing I gave you?"
Yue He had a jade token clenched in her palm, and she'd been channeling her power to refine and comprehend it this whole time, her mind immersed in its depths. She replied, "There was too little time. I've only refined one-tenth of it."
"One-tenth..." Yang Kai mused. "That should be enough."
"Young Master, what formation does this jade token belong to?" Yue He asked, puzzled.
During their escape, Yang Kai had suddenly handed her this jade token and told her to refine and comprehend it with everything she had. Yue He hadn't questioned the reason—she'd simply done as told. But as she worked through it, she discovered that this jade token was actually a formation seal for some great array.
Just like the formation seal of her Emerald Palace!
She hadn't heard that Yang Kai had any ties to another faction. He was part of the First Inn, yes, but there was no way the First Inn's formation seal would be in his hands. Such a thing could only be held by the Innkeeper—no one else had the authority.
Yang Kai smiled faintly. "Do you know what this Great Domain is called?"
Yue He had no idea. She immediately pulled out her Heaven and Earth Map and checked, then said in realization, "This is the Seven Skills Domain?"
Beyond the heavens, the Three Thousand Worlds—Great Domain after Great Domain, too many to count. Within each Great Domain existed countless factions of all sizes. As a general rule, if a Great Domain hosted a second-rate power, then the Domain would be named after that faction.
For instance, the Great Domain where the Blissful Sanctum was located was called the Blissful Domain, and the one where the Yin Yang Cave Heaven resided was called the Yin Yang Domain. This Great Domain, meanwhile, hosted a second-rate power called Seven Skills Ground, so it was named the Seven Skills Domain!
Great Domains without a second-rate power remained nameless, designated only by codes—like District Ding-9, District Bing-17, and so on.
"That's right—this is the Seven Skills Domain!" Yang Kai's voice carried a note of wistful nostalgia.
Yue He's heart stirred. She covered her red lips in astonishment. "Young Master, don't tell me—this jade token is the formation seal of Seven Skills Ground?"
Her guess stemmed from the fact that she'd already sensed the formation seal was of considerable scale—at the very least, something only a second-rate power would possess. But... how could Yang Kai possibly have Seven Skills Ground's formation seal?
Yang Kai threw his head back and laughed. "That's exactly what it is—Seven Skills Ground's formation seal. With it in hand, we can slip inside Seven Skills Ground without anyone being the wiser. All we need to do is lay low in there for a while, and when Red Star's lot can't find us, they'll have no choice but to leave."
Yue He stared blankly, looking down at the jade token in her hand with an utterly dumbfounded expression. So it really was Seven Skills Ground's formation seal...
This made no sense!
Such a precious object could only be held by the leader of a faction. How had it ended up in Yang Kai's hands? And as far as Yue He knew, the master of Seven Skills Ground was a Fifth-Order Open Heaven cultivator called Seven Skills Celestial Lord—on par with her in strength and certainly not someone to be trifled with.
