Chapter 4012 — We'll See If You Die

January 17, 2020 · 6 min read · 1,132 words

"Who lives and who dies remains to be seen — don't talk so big so early!" Yang Kai grinned ferociously as he reached out and shook the Six Harmonies Intentional Bag. With a thunderous rumble, a colossal figure made its dramatic entrance.

The Scarlet Flood Dragon's roar shook the heavens. Scorching heat radiated from its thirty-zhang-long body, and the crimson scales coating its surface looked indestructible at a single glance.

It raised its house-sized head and surveyed heaven and earth.

Sensing the ferocity of this monstrous beast, the Lei Guang cultivators turned pale with shock. Among them, those who had followed Bie Jian into Wolong Mountain to fight the Scarlet Flood Dragon before were even worse off — their faces drained of all color.

Last time, they had had no shortage of numbers, and under Bie Jian's leadership they had battled this Scarlet Flood Dragon head-on. Yet they had still ended up battered and bruised. Had Bie Jian not made the call to retreat quickly, many of them would have died that day.

A lesson learned from past misfortune guides future action. Seeing the Scarlet Flood Dragon again now, how could they not be terrified?

"That damn thing again!" Bie Jian's face went dark. He had never imagined the Scarlet Flood Dragon would be at Yang Kai's side. Earlier, having seen neither the Scarlet Flood Dragon nor the Earth Dragon, he had assumed both exotic beasts had abandoned Yang Kai. Now he realized Yang Kai could summon them at will.

The old man surnamed Zhu, however, lit up, his gaze fixed greedily on the Six Harmonies Intentional Bag in Yang Kai's hand. "A fine treasure!"

At a single glance he had determined this bag was a spatial Artifact capable of storing living creatures — otherwise, how could the Scarlet Flood Dragon answer a summons so readily?

Yang Kai regarded him with a long, deep stare, then flashed a grin and waved his hand. "Kill them all!"

The dragon's roar shook the heavens. The Scarlet Flood Dragon surged forward like a flood dragon breaching the sea, its massive jaws gaping wide. Tongues of raging fire erupted from its maw and swept toward the Lei Guang cultivators — a heat intense enough to incinerate all things, instantly engulfing a vast swathe of sky and earth.

There were far too many Lei Guang cultivators, over three hundred, packed in from every direction. The Scarlet Flood Dragon didn't even need to pick a target; it simply spewed fire at will.

The moment the Scarlet Flood Dragon moved, the Lei Guang forces panicked.

Bie Jian bellowed, "Spread out! Watch out for that beast!"

Even though his warning came soon enough, some still couldn't dodge in time — the Scarlet Flood Dragon had appeared far too suddenly, and no one had been on guard.

Those searing flames instantly engulfed seven or eight figures. Screams rang out as those people became seven or eight rolling fireballs.

And the devastation didn't end there. Between the torrents of fire, the Scarlet Flood Dragon's enormous body coiled and writhed with earth-shaking rumbling, smashing through the Lei Guang formation in an instant and scattering their hundreds into isolated pockets.

Its powerful tail swept forward, carrying irresistible, terrifying force. Anyone in its path was killed on contact and maimed with a single brush.

With the Scarlet Flood Dragon attacking, the Lei Guang cultivators scrambled in disarray.

Yet after barely three breaths, an avalanche of attacks rained down on the Scarlet Flood Dragon. Being large had its disadvantages — there was simply more to hit.

One devastating blow after another slammed into the Scarlet Flood Dragon's body, sending sparks of flame flying. Scales dropped away in patches, and within moments its body was riddled with wounds.

The Scarlet Flood Dragon let out a pained, agonized cry. But the pain of those attacks did nothing to make it retreat — instead, it only amplified the savage brutality of the beast. It charged headlong through the barrage of attacks, barreling up to a cluster of Lei Guang disciples, and opened its jaws to unleash another torrent of flame.

More screams pierced the air. A dozen or more Lei Guang disciples ahead were transformed into fireballs, rolling across the ground in agony.

Amid the chaos, Yang Kai struck with savage force of his own.

Under the workings of the Space Laws, the space within a thousand-zhang radius became thick and sluggish as a swamp, hampering every enemy trapped within — their movements slowed, the flow of power within their bodies sluggish and uncoordinated.

With a casual raise of his hand, streak after streak of pitch-black moon blades tore through the void and lashed out in every direction.

Anyone standing in their path was sliced clean in half at the waist.

The stench of blood spread through the air. Severed limbs and shredded flesh filled the sky. The small hilltop had become a living hell in the blink of an eye.

Guo Ziyan stood stunned. The dozen or so Red Star members were equally stunned. Only Yue He seemed to have anticipated this, her luminous gaze steadily tracking Yang Kai's movements — though even her lovely eyes held a faint, unusual gleam.

For these dozen-odd members of Red Star, what they witnessed today was almost impossible to believe.

They had already heard through various channels that the newly arrived Sixth Master had single-handedly slain Poison Lady and Gan Hong, securing his position as Sixth Master. But they had never witnessed the fight themselves.

Moreover, on that day Red Star's several leaders had been utterly suppressed by Yang Kai to the point of suffocation — and that sort of humiliation was not something anyone would go out of their way to publicize.

As a result, apart from a handful of people, no one truly understood how terrifying Yang Kai was.

Not until now — not until Guo Ziyan watched with his own eyes as those Lei Guang warriors toppled before Yang Kai like stalks of wheat. Those crescent-moon-like attacks swept past and no one could withstand them. Even those who activated their protective techniques were broken through with ease, dying body and soul. Only then did he grasp the horror of the new Sixth Master.

Those moon-shaped attacks contained an extraordinarily profound fluctuation of power, seeming to reach a depth beyond ordinary comprehension.

In just ten short breaths, more than thirty people had already fallen to Yang Kai's hand. Every death was gruesome beyond description. This kill count was even more savage than the Scarlet Flood Dragon's.

So… the new Sixth Master was this powerful!

Guo Ziyan stared blankly, a surge of hot blood rising in his chest until his mouth went dry. He raised his hand and produced a long staff-like Artifact, then charged forward in three bounding steps.
