But Mo Sheng could harness the celestial power of the Micro Realm's Third Territory, so Yang Kai couldn't rest easy leaving him alive under any circumstances. He had no choice but to cut the weeds and dig up the roots.
As for the view beyond the universe...
Yang Kai lifted his gaze upward. One day, he would witness it with his own eyes.
He suddenly recalled that countless members of the demon race still survived in the Third Territory of this Micro Realm. Among them, could there be another avatar of the Great Demon God?
He had just asked Mo Sheng how many avatars there were, but Mo Sheng had merely smiled without answering. Silence was itself an answer—the Great Demon God's avatars were definitely not limited to Mo Sheng alone. Otherwise, Mo Sheng would never have been so willing to throw away his life.
Drawing lessons from this precedent, Yang Kai immediately immersed his consciousness, carefully scanning every place in the Third Territory where demon race members congregated, searching for any trace.
His invisible divine sense swept across every inch of land in the Third Territory. In that instant, the countless demon race members living there all felt as though an invisible pair of eyes had locked onto them—the eyes of heaven and earth. Under that gaze, no secret could remain hidden.
Half an hour later, Yang Kai withdrew his divine sense, his brow furrowed slightly. Although he had combed through everything carefully and found no suspicious demon race members, given Mo Sheng's existence, he couldn't be absolutely certain that no avatars of the Great Demon God remained within his Micro Realm.
For so many years, Mo Sheng had hidden himself impeccably. Yang Kai had paid attention to him more than once, always sensing something was off yet never able to pinpoint what—let alone discern that he was an avatar of the Great Demon God.
If there were other avatars within the Micro Realm, they would presumably be able to hide themselves just as perfectly as Mo Sheng.
But then again, the Micro Realm was still his Micro Realm. Even if another avatar truly existed here, as long as he maintained complete control over the First Territory, the Great Demon God's avatar wouldn't be able to cause much trouble. If it didn't reveal itself, so be it. And if it did, he could still destroy it.
His heart eased slightly. But before Yang Kai could even catch his breath, he suddenly sensed something abnormal outside.
His figure flickered, and he was out of the Micro Realm in an instant, arriving before Gun Gun. Beside him, Bo Ya's face was drained of color, her porcelain complexion turned deathly pale. Her unfocused eyes stared straight ahead as she repeatedly called out Yang Kai's name—she had no idea how long she had been at it.
It was just that Yang Kai had been locked in battle with Mo Sheng earlier and had been too preoccupied to notice. After dealing with Mo Sheng, he had been fully occupied searching the Third Territory. Only when everything was done did he become aware.
The moment Yang Kai appeared, Bo Ya immediately said, "Finally! If you hadn't come out, we'd be done for."
Yang Kai frowned. "What's there to panic about?"
"See for yourself!" Bo Ya gestured in every direction.
Yang Kai focused his gaze and couldn't help but frown as well. All around them, the void had transformed into something resembling the stomach of an enormous beast, writhing and collapsing inward. Chaos was gathering, spatial turbulence surging in every direction, giving rise to an overwhelming sense of peril.
A Void Rift!
This sight was like the apocalypse to Bo Ya, but to Yang Kai it was as familiar as could be—this was unmistakably inside a Void Rift.
"When did this change start?" Yang Kai asked in a low voice.
"Half a day ago," Bo Ya replied hastily. "Not long after Big Fish swallowed the last piece of land, it started like this. At first it wasn't so bad, but now... you can see for yourself."
By Big Fish, she meant Gun Gun. From his appearance, Gun Gun did indeed resemble a plump, round fish—except this was a fish that could devour heaven and earth.
According to her, once Gun Gun had finished consuming the last continent of the Demon Domain, the void had begun to change—which surprised Yang Kai somewhat.
After all, Gun Gun had devoured many continents before without anything like this happening. This suggested that the entire Demon Domain had been consumed—a great world completely erased from existence—and that was why this was occurring.
Great worlds existed within the universe. When a great world was devoured, a blank space was left within the universe, and the Void Rift naturally expanded into it.
Yang Kai felt a headache coming on.
His original plan had been to return the way he came after devouring the entire Demon Domain. To that end, he had preserved all the World Gates he had used on his way in, deliberately sparing them from Gun Gun. As long as he followed those World Gates, he could naturally return safely to the Star Realm.
But that plan was no longer viable. The spatial turbulence was pressing in from all sides, and they had already fallen into a Void Rift. There were no World Gates to be found.
Still, this wasn't the first time Yang Kai had ventured into a Void Rift. Though the situation was somewhat troublesome, it was far from enough to shake his composure. Escaping alive from a Void Rift was something he had done many times before.
He ordered Bo Ya, "Get back inside first."
He reached out to grab her and unceremoniously stuffed her back into Gun Gun's body. Then, with a thought, Gun Gun's enormous form rapidly shrank, transforming back into the Pocket Realm Bead, which he stowed away.
No sooner had he finished than the surrounding spatial turbulence surged toward him like crashing waves upon the shore, engulfing him entirely.
Yang Kai was secretly alarmed. Though he had encountered similar situations many times, each one thrillingly dangerous, never before had a Void Rift presented itself like this.
If the Void Rifts of the past had been merely rough rivers to him, then this one was an ocean in full fury—the difference between them was beyond compare.
And Yang Kai was like a lone canoe navigating the raging storm upon that ocean, at any moment at risk of being swallowed whole.
