White Lotus's face was flushed with rage from his tirade, her beautiful eyes blazing with murderous intent. Just as she was about to say something more, Black Lotus suddenly tugged at her, instantly forcing White Lotus to swallow back all her fury. Gritting her teeth, she said nothing and turned her head away.
Changtian's words actually worked pretty well! Yang Kai was secretly delighted. Just as the man had said, this White Lotus had been treating him poorly from the moment they first met, constantly threatening to do something to him — it had really built up quite a bit of resentment in him.
Now being able to put her in her place, while it was of course just him riding on Changtian's coattails, was still a victory.
But Yang Kai clearly wasn't planning to let her off so easily. Seeing her thoroughly defiant expression, he pressed on: "Apologize!"
White Lotus whipped her head around to glare at him, her eyes narrowing slightly, glinting with dangerous cold light. Pressing her lips together, she said, "What did you say?"
Yang Kai tilted his head up slightly, pointing his chin at her. "I said apologize!"
"Are you looking to die?" The cold light in White Lotus's eyes grew even brighter.
"Fine, you said it." Yang Kai nodded, clasped his hands behind his back, and strode forward.
Black Lotus darted in front of him to block his path, frowning. "Where do you think you're going?"
Yang Kai looked at her. "Nowhere in particular. I'm going to find Senior Changtian. Are you going to stop me?"
Black Lotus was speechless. "What do you want with the Master?"
Yang Kai snorted. "This King's personal safety on the Hundred Spirits Continent cannot be guaranteed in the slightest. Certain people are constantly threatening to kill me. I can't stay in this place — of course I'll go bid farewell to the Senior and hurry back to my Cloud Shadow Continent."
Black Lotus naturally understood what he meant. She let out a long sigh. "My sister spoke without thinking just now. Please don't hold it against her."
Yang Kai curled his lips. "Me, hold it against her? Where did you see that?"
*I could tell with my eyes closed!* But with things having escalated this far, she couldn't just let it go. She could only say softly, "My sister has always had this kind of temper. She often offends people. If you want an apology, I'll apologize to you on her behalf, alright? Just be the bigger person and let it go."
Yang Kai let out a cold laugh. "You're not the one who threatened to kill me. Why would you apologize? Whoever offends me, apologizes." As he spoke, he glanced sideways at White Lotus. He didn't actually intend to make things too difficult for her — doing this was partly because he genuinely wanted to put her in her place, and partly to test just how effective Changtian's words really were. If White Lotus actually did apologize to him, then things would get interesting.
"Hey, know when to quit!" Black Lotus was growing angry too. Yang Kai's refusal to let it go seemed awfully petty, making her rather look down on him. Even though White Lotus was indeed in the wrong, in this world, strength was what mattered — when you're weaker than someone, what right do you have to demand they bow their head?
Yang Kai looked at her coldly. "Move. I can't stay here." With that, he walked straight toward Black Lotus as if to bump right into her.
Even though she was considerably stronger than Yang Kai, Black Lotus instinctively stepped aside. If she were really bumped by him, it would be him taking advantage of her — which was something she would naturally never allow.
"I'm sorry!"
A voice as faint as a mosquito suddenly came from behind.
Yang Kai stopped in his tracks and turned to look. There stood White Lotus, glaring at him furiously through clenched teeth, her lips bitten so hard they were bleeding, fists tight at her sides, her delicate body trembling slightly.
She actually apologized! Yang Kai was utterly astonished.
Before he could even collect himself, White Lotus had already transformed into a streak of white light and vanished into the mountains without a trace. Presumably, as a Half-Saint forced to apologize to Yang Kai, she was too ashamed to stay any longer.
Black Lotus reached out as if to grab her, but failed to catch her. She could only let out a heavy sigh, then look up to glare at Yang Kai. "Are you satisfied now?" They were sisters after all — her sister having been forced away left her none too pleased either.
"Uh, not bad!" Yang Kai laughed it off. But having done this, he now believed Changtian's earlier words a bit more. He clasped his hands behind his back, turned in a circle, and looked at her. "Well then — take me around for a look."
Black Lotus said with a cold face, "What about Zhui Feng?"
"What do I need it for!" Yang Kai had never intended to ride the thing for a casual stroll. That black horse didn't seem like a good one — it had already ruined one of his clothes and hadn't even compensated him.
The moment he said this, Yang Kai felt his robe being tugged at again. Looking back, sure enough, it was Zhui Feng causing trouble — biting at his clothes with its mouth while continuously pulling him toward its body, with an air that said *you have to ride me, no exceptions*.
This thing was strong. In just a few tugs, Yang Kai's clothes were torn to shreds.
