Chapter 3514: Caught Off Guard

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,087 words

On Dragon Island, Yang Kai had once faced the might of the Dragon Clan's two Grand Elders. However, that had been inside the Dragon Temple, where he was empowered by the ancestral Dragon Souls within. That situation could not be compared to what he faced now.

Chang Tian's strength was probably at most on par with the Dragon Clan's Grand Elder or Second Elder, but without the Dragon Temple's enhancement, Yang Kai could not possibly be Chang Tian's opponent even at full power. After all, the other party was equivalent to a Demon Saint — relying solely on his cultivation base rather than his bloodline power, he had more than enough to keep Yang Kai from making any waves.

Employing the Dragon Transformation Secret Technique was merely to counteract his Dragon Might! And that seemed to be precisely the purpose behind Chang Tian's methodical, step-by-step pressure.

Dragon horns jutted from both sides of his forehead, dragon scales covered his entire body, gleaming with golden radiance. His hands transformed into dragon claws, their tips flashing with cold light — even the sturdiest defensive Artifact would be shattered before such claws. A dragon tail swayed behind him, and his thirty-zhang-tall body towered like a pillar between heaven and earth. Fortunately, the great hall had been constructed on a truly magnificent scale; otherwise, it would never have been able to contain Yang Kai's current form.

Scorching breaths billowed from his nostrils, whipping the great hall into a howling gale. Lowering his head, he locked eyes with Chang Tian and saw nothing but amusement in the latter's gaze. Chang Tian nodded slightly. "Just as I thought!"

Yang Kai snorted softly and opened his jaws in a roar. The dragon cry shook the heavens, and the entire great hall shuddered.

Outside the castle, the myriad exotic beasts resting there simultaneously raised their heads, their eyes filled with alarm as they stared toward the interior. The majestic, soaring sound that had pierced their ears left them utterly disoriented, having no idea what was happening inside.

Inside the great hall, dragon breath permeated the air. Chang Tian, who stood at the forefront, remained perfectly composed — facing that roar was like a gentle breeze passing by his ears. The twin sisters, however, stared up in blank astonishment. The elder sister's red lips moved without producing any sound, but by her lip movements she was mouthing the words "Sacred Spirit."

Never had she imagined that this human she had abducted would turn out to be a Sacred Spirit! At the very least, he possessed Sacred Spirit blood — and the same bloodline as Lord Chang Tian's!

The younger sister, who had always treated Yang Kai with icy indifference and who at the slightest provocation threatened to cut out his tongue and gouge out his eyes, could not help showing emotion at this moment.

The reverberations of the dragon cry gradually faded. Yang Kai regarded Chang Tian before him with wariness and said in a deep voice, "Is that enough now?"

Chang Tian did not answer, merely smiling faintly. "Your Origin is remarkably powerful! Even more powerful than my own."

What? This human's Origin was actually more powerful than Lord Chang Tian's? Both sisters were stunned. If anyone else had said such a thing, they would have dismissed it as idle boastfulness. Many Sacred Spirits lived on the Hundred Spirits Continent — the two sisters themselves were among them — but Sacred Spirits too had rankings in strength. Across the entire Hundred Spirits Continent, and indeed the entire Demon Realm, no one's Origin power could surpass Lord Chang Tian's. Otherwise, he would not be the master of the Hundred Spirits Continent.

Yet now, these very words had come from Chang Tian's own mouth.

Did this not mean that this human had a very real possibility of one day growing to Lord Chang Tian's level? Perhaps even... surpassing him!

That future might be a thousand years away, or ten thousand years, or even a hundred thousand — but it was still a hope. Compared to those Sacred Spirits who could never reach Chang Tian's heights in their entire lifetimes, it was undoubtedly a tremendous compliment and honor.

But wasn't this just a human who excelled in the Space Laws and could repair World Gates? How had it suddenly escalated to the point where he could one day stand as an equal to Lord Chang Tian?

"It's truly surprising that the Demon Realm has Dragon Clan members as well," Yang Kai said. Seeing that the other party's attitude was reasonable enough, he felt it would be unseemly to maintain a hostile expression. After all, the other fellow was the one with the bigger fist — he was merely unhappy at being abducted without consent and then pressured in such a manner. From the look of it, the other party didn't seem to bear any ill intent... of course, that was only after he had discovered Yang Kai's Dragon Clan bloodline.

Chang Tian chuckled. "Every great world gives rise to species born from its own Origin. The Demon Realm is a great world with its own Origin — why shouldn't it have Dragon Clan members? Since you come from the Star Boundary, I imagine the Star Boundary also has Dragon Clan members?"

"That's right. There's a place in the Star Boundary called Dragon Island!" Yang Kai replied casually.

"Dragon Island?" A sharp gleam flashed in Chang Tian's eyes. "A place where the Dragon Clan resides?"

"Precisely!" Yang Kai nodded, noticing that the other seemed quite interested in Dragon Island.

Sure enough, Chang Tian pressed eagerly, "How many Dragon Clan members are on Dragon Island?"

Yang Kai answered, "Right now, only about twenty or thirty still live on Dragon Island."

"Are they all pure-blooded Dragon Clan?"

"Of course!"

"That many..." Chang Tian looked momentarily dazed, then perked up suddenly. "What elemental affinities do they have? What are their cultivation levels?"

"..." Yang Kai was somewhat speechless. If it had been literally anyone else asking him these questions, he would have understood — Dragon Island was an extremely mysterious place even in the Star Boundary, and if not for his connection through Zhu Qing, he likely would never have had any contact with it. But Chang Tian was the master of the Hundred Spirits Continent, his cultivation having reached the pinnacle of the Demon Saint realm — why did he have such an intense curiosity?

Frowning slightly, Yang Kai asked, "Are there not many Dragon Clan on the Hundred Spirits Continent?"
