When Yang Kai's gaze swept toward the Shadow Demon, the latter already knew something terrible was coming. Back at his peak, he'd been gravely wounded by a single move from Yang Kai, and now, injured as he was, he stood even less of a chance. The moment he sensed the killing intent radiating from Yang Kai, he wanted to retreat.
But under the lock of their eyes, he was stunned to discover a golden vertical slit had appeared in Yang Kai's left eye—radiating authority and an air of sheer terror, soul-shaking and spirit-rattling.
The World-Destroying Demon Eye!
A brief moment of hesitation was all it took, and the best window for escape had already slipped away.
A blade of light suddenly erupted from Yang Kai's left eye—silent and soundless—tearing straight through the Shadow Demon's Sea of Consciousness defense and slashing into it directly.
The World-Destroying Demon Eye paired with the Soul-Slaying Blade or the Born Lotus secret art was simply unstoppable. Long before Yang Kai had grown this powerful, he had used this combination countless times against formidable enemies, and it never failed to deliver miraculous results. Facing an already-wounded Shadow Demon now, it was even less of a challenge.
The Soul-Slaying Blade light, amplified by the Heaven-Breaking Strike secret art, carried incomparable power. The Shadow Demon felt his Sea of Consciousness tear apart in agonizing pain, forcing a wretched scream from his throat. The escape technique he'd been about to activate withered away before it could form.
Gritting through the searing pain, struggling to stabilize his shaken spirit soul, he had barely managed a moment to catch his breath when a shout rang out beside him:
"Watch out!"
"Fall back!"
He looked up to see that Yang Kai had already surged before him. The Million Sword materialized—sweep, slash—and a cross-shaped sword beam cut through his body.
The Shadow Demon froze in place, rigid.
With a crash, as if a tower of blocks had toppled, his body split apart in every direction, his life force vanishing in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, two mid-grade Demon Kings had fallen. Atop the mountain peak, every surviving Demon King was filled with bone-deep dread. Complete silence reigned—none had ever encountered a warrior this ferocious. The sight was enough to chill the blood.
Yang Kai held the Million Sword loosely at his side, his mocking gaze sweeping from one Demon King to the next with an air of predatory amusement, the corner of his lips curled upward. His voice carried an almost excited edge: "Slaughter… it brings me joy. I do hope you lot can offer me more entertainment!"
Stomp, stomp, stomp—
Several low-grade Demon Kings couldn't help but stumble back a few steps, their faces draining of color. This man was a complete lunatic!
One Inferno Demon, however, stepped forward. Flames blazed fiercely across his body, and he spoke in a frigid voice: "Bunch of cowards. What is there to fear? He's all alone!"
This was one of the three high-grade Demon Kings. He believed that if he went all out, he could have accomplished what Yang Kai just had, so he felt no fear whatsoever. With so many Demon Kings joining forces, how could they possibly fail to bring down this single opponent? The other side was merely putting on a show of bravado.
Another high-grade Demon King also stepped forward, his body thrumming with vigorous blood energy—clearly another Blood Demon. He spoke flatly: "Let's go!"
The instant his words fell, a vortex of sand suddenly erupted from the ground. In a fraction of a second, the sand coalesced into a terrifying sandstorm that surged upward, its momentum suggesting an intent to trap and annihilate Yang Kai utterly.
The last high-grade Demon King—a Sand Demon—had already made his move!
The sandstorm roared in, every grain of sand suffused with potent Demonic Yuan, carrying devastating destructive power.
Yang Kai could have dodged, yet he stood perfectly still, allowing the sandstorm to engulf him. A half-smile played on his lips, as though he were waiting for something.
A streak of light suddenly shot in from ten miles away, moving faster than thunder. Before anyone could react, it pierced straight through the sandstorm. Not only that—the light struck with pinpoint precision, plunging into the head of a low-grade Demon King on the opposite side. The savage burst of energy blew the Demon King's head apart.
"About time!" Yang Kai glanced toward the origin of the light, his heart settling into calm.
If Boya still hadn't struck by now, that would mean the woman was in league with these people, and the number of threats he'd need to watch for would multiply. Being tracked from long range by a mid-grade Demon King-class Winged Demon was no fun whatsoever.
Fortunately, Boya had not let him down.
And the reason she'd waited until this moment to act, making not a sound beforehand, was most likely to gauge his abilities. If he couldn't even survive a round or two, she would have fled immediately without ever revealing herself.
By slaying two mid-grade Demon Kings with thunderous force, Yang Kai had convinced Boya that he possessed the credentials to be her partner.
Yang Kai couldn't help but laugh. Being targeted from long range by a mid-grade Demon King-class Winged Demon was certainly no laughing matter—but if that Winged Demon happened to be an ally, things became far more relaxed.
Only now did a furious roar finally erupt from within the raging sandstorm, like a wounded beast howling in agony.
The high-grade Demon King-class Sand Demon had tried to use the sandstorm to trap and kill Yang Kai, only to be ambushed by Boya's sneak attack. Even if his life wasn't in danger, he was far from unscathed—the ever-shifting sandstorm alone spoke volumes about the fury and pain coursing through him.
The sudden death of the low-grade Demon King had also startled everyone. They all turned in unison toward the direction from which the light had come.
