Chapter 3447: Slicing Through Like Butter

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 989 words

Worried as she was, Xiao Wu at least remembered Yang Kai's earlier instructions. She took out her token and channeled her spiritual sense into it, discovering that the betting information for this round of the chaotic battle had indeed been added.

This betting structure was quite different from before. Previously there had only been two options to choose from, but this time there were seventy or eighty choices — in other words, there were currently around seventy demon race powerhouses in the Blood Arena, and nearly all of them were at the Demon King level.

Row after row, column after column, each demon participating in the chaotic battle had their own number, followed by a brief description of their cultivation. Those with any renown had their own aliases listed as well, such as the Poison Bee who had previously won the blood duel — his entry was prominently displayed.

Yang Kai naturally had no alias. Xiao Wu scanned down the list and quickly found his token number. She glanced at the odds beside it and froze, thinking she must have misread.

She looked more carefully, but no — she hadn't made a mistake. Yang Kai's odds were a staggering one to ten!

That struck her as rather strange, because those odds were absurdly high — abnormally so. She checked the other demons' odds and found them all within normal range. There were a few others at one to ten as well, but those were all Demon Commander-level demons who obviously couldn't survive to the end in a chaotic battle like this.

Virtually every Demon King-level combatant had odds hovering around one to one, with the highest being one to two at most.

But the information listed beside Yang Kai's token clearly stated he was a mid-rank Demon King! What was going on? Such unreasonable odds made it seem as though the Blood Arena operators were absolutely certain Yang Kai was going to die, deliberately inflating the odds to attract bettors.

Xiao Wu couldn't figure it out, but there was no time to dwell on it — if she delayed any further, the betting window would close.

Gritting her teeth, she squeezed her eyes shut and followed Yang Kai's instructions to the letter, placing a bet of one hundred million on his number!

Having done that, Xiao Wu felt completely drained, as though every ounce of strength had fled her body. She had never been so shaken in her entire life as she had been today.

Inside the Blood Arena, Yang Kai stood there with perfect composure, his gaze sweeping over the several Demon Kings who had gathered around him. One casual sweep of his spiritual sense and he had their strengths laid bare — four low-rank, one mid-rank…

In human cultivation terms, that translated to four at the first level of the Emperor Venerable realm and one at the second level.

He honestly couldn't figure out where they got the nerve to surround him.

He interlaced his fingers and pressed them down against his abdomen, rolled his neck, and shifted his shoulders, stretching his muscles and tendons in preparation for a good fight. The Demon Kings all watched him with savage grins, their eyes fixed on him as though he were already a dead man.

Two resounding clangs echoed through the arena — the chaotic battle had officially begun!

A low-rank Demon King on the left immediately charged at Yang Kai, apparently provoked by Yang Kai's earlier provocations and eager to teach him the price of arrogance. Without the slightest hesitation, the demon bared his fangs in a savage smile as his demonic energy erupted forth. In two or three strides he was before Yang Kai, throwing a punch that carried a howling wind. Before his fist condensed a pitch-black sphere of energy that hurtled straight toward Yang Kai's chest.

An aura of annihilation surged outward, and the Demon King grinned with smug confidence.

Yang Kai also threw a punch forward, but without the slightest fluctuation of power — as though it were nothing more than a casual blow.

Boom!

The Demon King across from him felt his smile freeze instantly on his face. Disbelief flooded his eyes as an inconceivable sense of crisis enveloped his entire being, his perceptions expanding to their absolute limit in that one fleeting moment.

For reasons he couldn't understand, everything around him seemed to slow to a crawl. He could clearly see his own fist being shattered by the other guy's punch — flesh and bone fragments flying in every direction. That brutal, unstoppable force continued onward without pause, grinding through his forearm inch by inch, crushing the entire arm to pieces before slamming into his chest.

A mist of blood erupted, and where the Demon King had stood, there was nothing left. In a single exchange, this low-rank Demon King had been obliterated to dust by Yang Kai.

No one had time to react.

The other four Demon Kings were still standing nearby, wanting to gauge Yang Kai's strength before making their moves, but Yang Kai had already burst forth from that cloud of blood mist, wreathed in a bone-piercing killing intent, and in the blink of an eye was before another low-rank Demon King.

He threw the same punch, didn't even bother to look, pivoted his body, and swept sideways — launching yet another punch at a third low-rank Demon King.

The second Demon King's body didn't explode until the third fist had already connected with its target.

The two remaining Demon Kings turned pale with shock, barely able to believe their own eyes. In the moment they hesitated, the third demon Yang Kai had struck was already following his two companions into oblivion.

Retreat! Retreat immediately!

The two surviving demons instinctively tried to put distance between themselves and Yang Kai.

Yang Kai abruptly turned his head and flashed the pair a savage grin that sent chills racing down their spines.
