Biluo followed cautiously behind Yang Kai, cradling over a dozen bottles of pills that restored Divine Sense power in her arms. Her beautiful eyes kept studying his rather unremarkable silhouette, her expression a complicated mix of guilt and regret.
She truly regretted what she'd done today.
None of this would have happened if she hadn't taken him to the Letian Medicine Shop. The crux of it was that she'd originally wanted Le Yu to teach Yang Kai a lesson, but then she'd lost the desire to be so cruel—and ended up offending him instead. To make matters worse, he was so powerful that he could trade blows with Le Yu without falling behind.
In the end, she'd muddled her way into a situation where she felt like the villain from every angle, losing face completely.
Along the way, Yang Kai's silence and coldness only made her feel as though she were sitting on pins and needles, thoroughly uncomfortable.
Finally, back at the palace, Biluo couldn't hold it in any longer. She quickened her pace, darting in front of Yang Kai to block him, and said huffily, "Why aren't you saying a word?"
Yang Kai glanced at her faintly, his brow furrowing slightly.
"Hey!" Biluo waved a hand in front of his face. "You—how can you just ignore people? I know you're strong, but that doesn't mean you can give everyone the cold shoulder! Sure, when I took you to the Letian Medicine Shop earlier, I did want Le Yu to teach you a lesson. You were just so annoying! But then I changed my mind! By that point, though, the situation was already beyond my control... Look, I'm sorry, all right? Don't be angry!"
Though Biluo was an orphan of humble origins, she was still the most favored confidant of Shan Qingluo, not to mention strikingly beautiful and seductive. She had always held herself above others and was quite arrogant in daily life.
Combined with her particular tastes, she had never given any man a second glance.
When Shan Qingluo had brought Yang Kai back that day, she'd not only let him stay at the Fenghuan Pavilion but had also sent three of the finest women from the palace to attend to him—naturally, this had irritated Biluo.
She'd never had a good impression of Yang Kai to begin with, only interacting with him because Shan Qingluo had ordered it. In her heart, she hadn't taken him seriously at all.
Not until today's battle, when Yang Kai had proven himself capable of matching Le Yu blow for blow and holding his own, did Biluo realize this man was somehow different from other men. She also understood why Shan Qingluo valued him so highly.
Given her temperament and pride, offering a sincere apology at this point was already the absolute limit of what she could do.
Yang Kai stood there, brow tightly furrowed. He merely looked at her without speaking.
Biluo's expression soured immediately, and she said with puffed cheeks, "I've already apologized—can't you just forgive me? They say men are supposed to be magnanimous, but you don't seem so great to me!"
Yang Kai suddenly reached out a hand, seized the collar of Biluo's garment, and hauled her directly in front of him.
Biluo's face drained of color in an instant. Almost by reflex, she was about to strike back, but the memory of Yang Kai's terrifying combat power made her swallow the urge. She only cried out in alarm, "What are you doying?!"
"If you ever scheme against me again, you're dead," Yang Kai said with a cold snort.
His voice was frigid and absolute, utterly devoid of jest. Sensing his earnestness, Biluo felt her heart shudder and her entire body go cold.
Just as she was about to put on a brave face and mouth off, Yang Kai suddenly released her. His face turned pale, and he spat a mouthful of blood to the side.
Woven through the blood was a thread of purple energy that squirmed as though alive.
"Ah..." Biluo let out a trembling cry.
"Get back!" Yang Kai suddenly swept out a palm wind that shoved Biluo over thirty feet away. The next instant, his body was engulfed in purple evil fire that blazed fiercely.
Bone-piercing cold radiated outward. In the span of a heartbeat, Yang Kai's hair and clothing turned snow-white, and缕缕 frigid aura spread out like something tangible.
Crack, crack, crack...
Centered on where Yang Kai stood, the ground within a radius of over thirty feet froze solid in an instant.
Biluo's eyes trembled violently as she stared unblinkingly at Yang Kai.
So it turned out he hadn't fully neutralized the power of Le Yu's technique at all. Instead, he'd sealed it inside his body through some unknown method, and it had now erupted once more.
This was the Purple Spirit Evil Fire from the Fierce Evil Abyss!
It wasn't true fire but rather a concentrated mass of Purple Spirit Evil Energy. Le Yu had absorbed and refined it, weaving it into his attacks.
This sinister energy was extraordinarily stubborn. Once it hit you, it clung like a parasite burrowing into bone. Unless your strength far exceeded Le Yu's, it would eventually consume all your Yuan Qi and freeze you to death.
Biluo had only ever heard of it but never witnessed it before. Today was her first time seeing it firsthand.
"You're hurt?" Biluo asked with a trembling voice. Noticing Yang Kai's condition, the dissatisfaction in her heart was instantly replaced by guilt.
"Obviously—go get hit by that mace and see how you feel!" Yang Kai replied through gritted teeth. He took a deep breath and activated the True Yang Technique, forcing the Purple Spirit Evil Fire back into his meridians.
Le Yu truly deserved his reputation as one of the top young-generation experts. Although Yang Kai appeared to have won decisively in their fight, and even Shenyou Realm experts from the Le family had come out to apologize—in truth, only Yang Kai himself knew the real outcome.
If the fight had continued, he had no certainty of victory! After all, Le Yu's realm was four minor stages above his own.
And that mace strike had landed with devastating force. Despite the protection of the Thousand-Petal Blood Begonia, Yang Kai's internal organs had still been knocked out of place, and he hadn't caught his breath yet.
"Then what do we do?" Biluo asked anxiously.
"Heal my injuries, you blockhead!"
"Right, right—let's hurry back!" Biluo said urgently, stepping forward to support Yang Kai, and the two of them rushed toward the Fenghuan Pavilion.
