The two Dragon Clan elders' expressions were rather unpleasant. The moment Fu Chunyou appeared, her gaze swept over Yang Kai, Jiu Feng, and the others before she demanded in a cold voice: "Who is it?"
"Reporting to the Second Elder, we are all fine." Fu Qi stepped forward and cupped his fists in reply.
Fu Ling hurriedly added, "Nothing happened on our end either."
Fu Chunyou's dark brows furrowed.
Zhu Yan's gaze swept across the assembled dragons as he spoke in a grave tone: "The Fourth Elder and Fu Chi are missing."
The Dragon Clan's numbers were limited—every single one could be accounted for, so it was easy to notice when someone was absent.
The reason Zhu Kong wasn't here was that Li Wuyi had used his divine ability to pull him into a pocket of void. Given Zhu Kong's abilities, he shouldn't be at a disadvantage against Li Wuyi.
That left only one possibility: something had happened to Fu Chi. At that thought, Zhu Yan's expression darkened as well.
Fu Chi was an eighth-rank Thunder Dragon, a mid-to-upper-tier existence even among the Dragon Clan. If something had truly happened to him, the losses on Dragon Island today would be enormous. Fu Chi had been severely wounded by Yang Kai earlier, so his strength would have dropped considerably. But on this Dragon Island, aside from the people standing before him, who else could possibly kill an eighth-rank Thunder Dragon?
That was precisely what Zhu Yan found most impossible to figure out.
Yang Kai pondered for a moment, then cupped his fists and said, "Grand Elder, I have something to report."
Zhu Yan had no favorable impression of him. The day's events had been entirely stirred up by Yang Kai. Although Mo Huang's appearance wasn't directly related to him, he had been the one to muddy the waters of Dragon Island. If Yang Kai hadn't drawn everyone's attention here, they might have noticed Mo Huang's infiltration of Dragon Island sooner, preventing his intrusion into the Dragon Tomb and the violation of Dragon Clan rules.
But the Grand Elder was a relatively mild-mannered person, so he still nodded upon hearing this and asked, "What is it?"
Yang Kai said with a solemn expression: "Wu Kuang may be on Dragon Island!"
"Wu Kuang?" Zhu Yan frowned. "Which Wu Kuang?"
Yang Kai replied, "Is there anyone else in this world named Wu Kuang?"
Zhu Yan's expression finally changed: "You mean… the Devouring Heavens Great Emperor?"
At those words, everyone involuntarily swallowed hard. Pairs of eyes turned toward Yang Kai in utter shock, as though trying to determine whether he had lost his mind. Not many people knew the name Wu Kuang, but the Devouring Heavens Great Emperor's reputation was far too resounding.
Even Zhu Qing stared at Yang Kai in disbelief.
Fu Chunyou rebuked him furiously: "Spouting nonsense! Wu Kuang perished many years ago—how could he possibly appear on our Dragon Island? Stop talking nonsense with your eyes wide open, boy."
She already had a very low opinion of Yang Kai, and with a Dragon Clan member now dead, her mood had only worsened further. There was no way she would be civil.
Yang Kai said calmly: "Wu Kuang isn't dead."
Zhu Yan and Fu Chunyou both froze. The former shook his head repeatedly, while the latter wore an expression of undisguised contempt, clearly disbelieving every word.
Yang Kai was growing somewhat irritated by their attitude. He was merely sharing intelligence he knew—he had no ulterior motives. He wasn't asking for the Dragon Clan's gratitude, but the least they could do was not look at him with such disdain.
The attitude of the two Dragon Clan elders left him displeased. Yang Kai saw no point in arguing further. After all, it was the Dragon Clan members who were dying—it had nothing to do with him. The only thing he needed to consider now was how to slip away with Zhu Qing and the others under the noses of Zhu Yan and Fu Chunyou.
"Heh, he's not spouting nonsense."
A clear voice rang out as a burly figure suddenly descended nearby, cradling a pale-faced woman in his arms.
"Third Elder!" Zhu Qing cried out in joyful surprise upon seeing the woman.
The assembled dragons all looked at Fu Xuan with complicated expressions, greetings rising one after another.
Fu Xuan turned her head toward Zhu Qing, nodded weakly with a faint smile, then fixed her gaze on Yang Kai and studied him from head to toe.
At that moment, Yang Kai happened to look toward her as well. Their eyes met, and Yang Kai froze.
Mo Xiaoqi? Why is she here?
But the very next instant, he realized he had mistaken her for someone else. Although this woman bore a seventy or eighty percent resemblance to Mo Xiaoqi, their temperaments were entirely different. This woman appeared far more mature than Mo Xiaoqi. If Mo Xiaoqi was a flower bud on the verge of blooming, then this woman was a fully blossomed flower, possessing a charm that Mo Xiaoqi lacked.
Most importantly, this woman's face did not bear that butterfly-shaped mark.
The butterfly mark on Mo Xiaoqi's face was a seal—not a birthmark as Yang Kai had originally assumed. It was a life-saving measure that the Beast Martial Great Emperor had placed on her. Back in the Shattered Star Sea, when that seal had cracked open, Mo Xiaoqi had nearly gone berserk, and it had taken Zhang Ruoxi's intervention to suppress her.
So this woman was not Mo Xiaoqi. She seemed more like Mo Xiaoqi's elder or older sister.
Yet the way Zhu Qing and the others addressed the woman left him somewhat confused—he couldn't figure out the relationship between Mo Xiaoqi and her.
