Inside the grand hall, the storm of passion was gradually subsiding.
Outside the hall, Yang Kai stared, dumbfounded.
Time seemed to freeze in that instant.
The woman's half-lidded eyes locked directly onto Yang Kai's prying gaze from beyond the door — their eyes met head-on.
Yang Kai's heart lurched. Not good.
He had weathered countless storms in his lifetime, but what he had just witnessed still left him shaken, his composure rattled. Only now did he realize that the dragon clan member inside this very hall was none other than Ful Ling — the very one he had encountered just days ago.
Ful Ling's narrowed eyes slowly sharpened into an intense, piercing stare. She had clearly spotted him.
Yang Kai didn't dare linger a moment longer. Spatial Laws surged, and with a flicker, he vanished from the spot.
Ful Ling furrowed her brows and rose gracefully. A trail of moisture slid down her thigh, but she paid it no mind. She didn't bother covering herself either, simply walking straight out the door.
Her gaze swept over the place where Yang Kai had been standing, but she found nothing. Her frown deepened. She turned her head to scan the distant horizon and let out a soft, displeased hum.
...
Over the open sea, Yang Kai flew through the air, his expression somewhat awkward.
He hadn't anticipated running into something like that. It wasn't that he had intentionally tried to peek — the scene had simply been too explosive, and he couldn't help but steal a few extra glances. That was how he'd inadvertently given away his position. Whether Ful Ling had actually noticed him or not, he couldn't be sure.
She probably had. Otherwise her expression wouldn't have changed so obviously.
Would she come looking to settle the score? Knowing the temperament of dragons, it was almost a certainty. But even if Ful Ling wanted to give him trouble, she likely didn't know who he was. When he had crossed paths with her a few days ago, she hadn't paid him any particular attention — she probably wouldn't remember a nobody like him.
So there was no need to worry too much.
Still, though this female dragon's lifestyle was rather… indulgent, her figure and appearance were truly exceptional. After all, she was a Sacred Spirit of the dragon clan — she couldn't possibly be anything less. Recalling what he had seen moments ago, Yang Kai still felt his pulse quicken.
Lost in idle thoughts, he scoured several more islands but found nothing of use. He could only head back for now.
He had been out for several days already. He wondered how things were going with Lü Sanniang — he was still somewhat concerned that Yuan Wu might cause trouble for them.
Half a day later, Yang Kai returned to the island he had departed from and touched down. He looked left and right but saw no sign of Lü Sanniang or her daughter. He wasn't sure if they were hiding somewhere or what.
Just as he was about to search for them, a sudden splashing sound erupted from the nearby sea, followed by a bright, melodious peal of laughter that reached his ears.
Yang Kai turned to look and saw two graceful figures rising slowly from the water.
It was Lü Sanniang and her daughter. He had no idea what they had gone into the sea for, but they were now making their way back to shore.
Both mother and daughter were drenched, their clothing clinging tightly to their bodies, accentuating every curve — one full and mature, the other youthful and alluring.
Yang Kai's eyesight was razor-sharp. Even from a distance, a single glance was enough to take in the entire breathtaking sight.
He discreetly looked away, directing his gaze elsewhere. Seeing that they were safe, he let out a silent breath of relief.
The giggling continued — it was Lü Yuqin's voice. The girl must have encountered something delightful, laughing without end.
Then, abruptly, the laughter stopped. She must have spotted Yang Kai. Mother and daughter exchanged a glance, quickly channeled their power to evaporate the seawater from their bodies, and flew over hand in hand.
"Brother Yang!" Lü Sanniang called out as she and her daughter landed a short distance away.
Perhaps because of the earlier incident, Lü Yuqin seemed a little bashful. She was hiding behind her mother, not daring to peek out, her cheeks flushed warm.
Only then did Yang Kai turn to look at them properly, offering a slight nod and a mild smile. "Sister Lü seems to be in high spirits."
He had assumed the two of them had gone into the sea for a swim.
Lü Sanniang smiled coyly and asked, "Brother Yang, did you have any luck?"
She didn't know why Yang Kai had left, but she understood he must have had his reasons. Since he hadn't volunteered the information, she didn't think it proper to pry too deeply.
"Just took a look around," Yang Kai replied.
Lü Sanniang said, "The scenery on Dragon Palace Island is rather nice. Brother Yang, wait a moment — I need to deliver something first, then we can talk."
Yang Kai asked curiously, "Deliver what?"
"This!" As she spoke, Lü Sanniang flicked her wrist, and a luminous pearl appeared in her palm. It was no small thing — the size of a man's fist, perfectly round and full, clearly a top-grade specimen. It emitted a gentle radiance that gave off an indescribably warm feeling.
Yang Kai's eyes lit up.
Such luminous pearls held no value whatsoever for martial Cultivation, but many women absolutely adored them. For one simple reason — they were perfect for lighting, far superior to any number of strange luminous stones used for illumination.
"That's a fine pearl," Yang Kai nodded in approval.
