The Succubus actually turned around and began asking on
The Succubus turned back, her face full of regret as she looked at Yang Kai. "Little brother, it's not that your big sister doesn't want to help — they're simply not willing to let you pass. What do you think we should do?"
Yang Kai grinned. "Regardless, I still have to thank you, big sister. Now then, step aside for a moment."
"What are you going to do?" The Succubus was slightly taken aback.
Yang Kai said earnestly, "Since they're unwilling to move out of the way on their own, I'll just have to do it the hard way. Big sister, you look delicate and fragile, so you'd better stand well back to avoid any accidental injury."
The Succubus was somewhat dumbfounded, feeling that Yang Kai's words were utterly absurd. A mere fellow whose strength was equivalent to a low-tier Demon King was actually spouting such bravado here — did he have a death wish? But looking at his expression, he seemed entirely sincere. She gingerly asked for confirmation: "You mean... you're going to fight your way through?"
"That's right!" Yang Kai nodded, and true to his word, he struck the moment he said it.
With a casual raise of his hand, the ancient Mountain and River Bell was summoned forth. An aura of profound antiquity and desolation erupted outward, rippling in all directions. The intricate patterns etched upon the bell's surface flared with light, and a force of absolute suppression descended from the heavens like an invisible hammer crashing down.
Sensing this crushing power, the numerous demon strongmen hovering in midair all changed expressions. Under this wave of suppression, they felt as though a mountain ten thousand zhang tall had been placed upon their heads. Their blood and qi churned wildly, their breathing grew labored, and their bodies involuntarily sank downward.
Several Demon Commanders of lesser cultivation were already vomiting blood, flailing helplessly in midair, unable to steady themselves no matter what they tried. One by one they plummeted toward the ground.
Even the more powerful Demon Kings found their movements severely restricted. They were forced to unleash their secret techniques one after another just to break free of the binding force.
The Mountain and River Bell swelled to enormous size, pressing down from high above. Its massive shadow blotted out the light before several Demon Kings, and amid their panicked screams, it swallowed them whole like the gaping maw of some colossal beast.
BOOM—
The Mountain and River Bell slammed into the ground. The entire Demon Fury City trembled three times, and many structures that weren't particularly sturdy collapsed in that very instant.
The battlefield fell deathly silent. Every demon's eyes were filled with horror as they stared blankly at where the enormous bell now rested. Beneath it, several Demon Kings of considerable cultivation should have been crushed — one of them whose strength ranked among the top ten in all of Demon Fury City.
Yet even such a formidable Demon King had not had time to react to this terrifying strike, and whether he was alive or dead remained unknown.
The answer came quickly.
Yang Kai formed a hand seal, and the Mountain and River Bell shrank with a whir, flying back into his palm. On the ground below lay several mangled corpses, each one flattened like a pancake, as if someone had taken a rolling pin and pressed them flat.
Sharp intakes of breath echoed throughout the area. Countless demons changed expression. Those Demon Kings who had been freely mocking Yang Kai moments ago could no longer utter a single word — only a deep, creeping fear remained in their hearts. Every demon unconsciously retreated, trying to widen the distance between themselves and Yang Kai.
A casual strike with such devastating force — who in all of Demon Fury City could withstand him head-on? Even the most powerful Demon King couldn't match this level. If they truly provoked this man into going on a killing spree, the entire city might be reduced to rubble.
"Hehe..." The Succubus who had spoken earlier was pale-faced, swallowing hard as she said, "Little brother, you're just awful — playing the pig to eat the tiger and scaring your big sister like that. I nearly died of fright." A smile was squeezed onto her face, but it looked worse than weeping. Her voice trembled, making it obvious she was terrified to her core.
She was a Demon King, yes, but her strength ranked among the lower tier in all of Demon Fury City. If that strike had been directed at her, she certainly wouldn't have survived.
Only now did she realize that this harmless-looking human actually possessed destructive power.
Yang Kai held the Mountain and River Bell in his palm and shook his head at her words. "Big sister, that's not quite right."
"Not right?" The Succubus's heart lurched. She feared she'd misspoken and was about to bring disaster upon herself. She glanced fearfully at the small bell, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Yang Kai said with a straight face, "I never said I wasn't a tiger. So where does 'playing the pig' come in?"
"Right, right, exactly!" The Succubus nodded hastily. "It's them who are blind — dogs looking down on people. They deserved to die!"
Yang Kai laughed. "Big sister, you really know how to carry on a conversation. It makes me want to chat with you a while longer. Oh dear, what am I to do? I have urgent business to attend to."
"Hehe..." The Succubus's smile froze in place. She stepped aside. "If you have urgent business, then by all means be on your way. Don't waste any more time."
"Very well!" Yang Kai nodded. "Then this young master shall take his leave. No one else wants to stop me, I trust?"
The Succubus shook her head. "Of course not. No one here is blind enough."
The Demon Kings wore solemn expressions, but not one dared open their mouth, fearing that too many words would lead to disaster and provoke the human into striking again — and killing a few more of them.
"Good." Yang Kai winked at the Succubus. "No need to look so sorrowful and worried, big sister. Who knows — this young master might just come back someday. When that happens, I'll be sure to sit and chat with you by candlelight all night long, so you can appreciate your little brother's charm."
Where am I sorrowful? Where am I worried? the Succubus screamed inwardly, though she didn't dare let it show on her face. She felt wretched beyond words.
The assembled Demon Kings also wore grim looks. Yang Kai's words made their hearts pound and their stomachs twist. All they wanted was for this guy to leave already — and ideally die out on Gale Wind Mountain. Who could possibly want him to make a return trip?
