Chapter 2855: Kill

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,086 words

As twins who had practiced witchcraft together for many years, they had long since reached a level of mutual understanding that bordered on telepathy. So even a simple exchange of glances was enough for each to read the other's thoughts.

The Green Demon's poison was incurable, yet Wuniu had said he wouldn't die — which meant he had only one option…

"How much do you know about the Demon Folk?" Yang Kai asked.

Yu gathered her thoughts and replied, "Not much. The records in those ancient texts contained very little information. Aside from the Green Demons, there was also a corresponding type known as the Red Demons. These two kinds of demon race caused countless deaths and injuries among the inhabitants of this land during the last great war."

"Red Demons?" Yang Kai raised an eyebrow, and some comical figures involuntarily surfaced in his mind. "Short, round, rotund fellows with red skin and red hair?"

"Perhaps…" Yu wasn't entirely certain.

"What special abilities do Red Demons have?"

Yu said, "Red Demons are also known as Explosive Demons. Their sole value and purpose in existence is to explode!"

"There are demons like that?" Yang Kai was shocked. Back in that demon lair, he had indeed killed several demons with red skin. Those demons had radiated an extremely dangerous aura — short in stature but fat and round, shaped almost like wooden barrels. He hadn't thought much of it at the time when killing them, but now, after Yu's explanation, he realized those creatures were literally born to detonate.

Just imagine — if he hadn't learned this beforehand and encountered an army of Red Demons, and during the battle they began detonating one after another, the barbarian side would surely suffer catastrophic casualties.

This was yet another piece of extremely valuable intelligence.

However, as far as the Demon Folk went, the sisters Yu and Lu only knew about the Red Demons and the Green Demons. Even the Sand Demons had been unknown to them until recently.

So they weren't able to provide Yang Kai with much additional reference information.

It was actually Yang Kai who had gathered a fair amount of intelligence from his trip to the demon lair. He shared everything he had witnessed with the assembled witches, instructing them to pass the information down so that the clansmen would be on their guard when the two armies clashed.

After that, Yang Kai found an open area, raised his hand, and a massive dark figure abruptly appeared.

It was the demon beast he had captured from the demon lair earlier.

Black qi coiled around the creature's body, continuously seeping outward. The moment it appeared, it let out a furious roar that startled more than a dozen witches, who stared at the beast in bewildered suspicion and then looked at Yang Kai, having no idea how he had conjured such a massive creature out of thin air.

However, the demon beast had already been sealed with several layers of restrictions by Yang Kai, its entire strength completely suppressed. So despite its ferocious appearance, it was utterly powerless.

"The Demon Folk seem to have cavalry, and this kind of demon beast is their mount. Take some time to study it and see if you can find any weaknesses. If we can turn it to our use, all the better. If you can't find any weaknesses, that's fine too — just kill it."

Yang Kai tossed out those instructions, then walked over to a freshly built wooden cabin on his own.

A group of witches immediately surrounded the demon beast and began studying it with great enthusiasm.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Yang Kai had remained hidden inside the wooden cabin the entire time, and no one knew what he was actually doing. The three-thousand-strong army seethed with rage and fighting spirit, yet had nowhere to vent it.

Inside the demon lair, Shaya sat upon her throne. Her tight, revealing garments outlined every curve of her stunning figure with exquisite precision. The bruised area on her chest that Yang Kai had blasted a few days prior had somehow been restored to its former fullness — no one knew what secret technique she had used, but she had made a complete recovery.

At the moment, she was propping her chin up with one hand, seemingly dozing.

The short demon stood below in absolute silence, its aura completely suppressed, looking for all the world like a corpse.

After a long while, Shaya finally opened her eyes and said flatly, "What's the situation over there? Has he come yet?"

The short demon replied immediately, "According to the sand people's reconnaissance, the foreigners over there are growing somewhat restless. But that particular fellow has been hiding himself the whole time — nothing out of the ordinary."

Shaya let out a derisive laugh. "It seems he's trying to figure out a way to neutralize the Green Demon's poison. How laughable. If the Green Demon's poison could be easily cured, it wouldn't be the most insidious toxin of my demon race. Still, the fact that he's managed to resist for two days without breaking is quite impressive."

As she spoke, she rose to her feet, her beautiful eyes sharp. "Pass down the order — have our people prepare."

The short demon's expression brightened. "My Lady, does this mean we're going to war with them?"

Shaya sneered, "If he won't come to me, then I'll go to him — what's wrong with that? An interesting slave like this doesn't come along often. I'd rather not let him die just yet."

The short demon felt a twinge of pity for those barbarians upon hearing this, but turned and went to relay the orders regardless.

In an instant, demonic energy surged through the cavern as demons began to assemble in droves.

Half an hour later, the clansmen of the Wuniu tribe, stationed a hundred li away, suddenly felt an unusual rumbling coming from the earth. At the same time, the airborne sentries high above sounded their horns.

The deep, resonant blasts echoed between heaven and earth. All three thousand warriors' expressions hardened. They seized their weapons and formed their battle lines.

Yang Kai, still wreathed in green light, swiftly emerged from the wooden cabin. He looked up toward the demon lair and saw that the sky over there had gone pitch black, like the moments before a raging storm — and that darkness was surging rapidly in their direction, threatening to swallow all the light.
