Two days later, a dragon's roar echoed across the nine heavens.
His aura was weak, but the battle intent blazing within him burned like fire.
Before him, a colossal golden blade over a hundred zhang in length hovered in midair, facing him from a distance. Its terrifying sword intent seemed capable of tearing space itself apart.
Over the course of two days, Yang Kai had fought to the death against this metal-element world, unleashing every technique at his disposal and consuming countless spirit pills and divine medicines, all just to hold on until now.
If not for his exceptional foundations and extraordinary physical resilience, he would have been expelled or killed by this world long ago.
Fighting against an entire world—what a rush.
But Yang Kai was already at the end of his rope. Likewise, this world was no better off.
For two days straight, the Mysterious Boundary Bead had been devouring the laws and spiritual energy of this place, eroding the world's vitality. Had Yang Kai not been so thoroughly drained from the prolonged battle, the sheer shift in balance would have been enough for him to conquer this world on its own.
But now it was time to finish things.
"Come on! Last strike—let's see who lives and who dies!" Yang Kai stared at the golden blade and roared with laughter.
As if answering his challenge, the golden blade hummed and came crashing down upon him. This was the final blow this world could muster, gathering every last shred of power. It was the world's last act of defiance.
Such a terrifying strike could overturn rivers and shatter the sea, could rip the void to shreds.
A massive black scar appeared across the sky, like a wound that could never be healed.
Yang Kai bellowed and charged forward instead of retreating. His dragon tail swept behind him as his body shot ahead like a cannonball.
A soaring dragon cry rang out as the silhouette of a massive golden dragon materialized, enveloping Yang Kai entirely. The dragon's form stretched over a hundred zhang in length, vivid and lifelike, its head swaying and its tail lashing as lightning crackled and thunder boomed.
Boom...
A deafening explosion erupted as violent waves of power swept outward in every direction. Space within a hundred-li radius shattered inch by inch.
Two blinding bursts of golden light exploded in midair, so brilliant that no eyes could bear to look. The entire world was flooded with a sea of golden radiance.
Crack...
A sharp, crisp sound rang out, and a massive fissure appeared on the golden blade first. In moments, starting from that initial crack, a dense web of fractures spread across the entire surface like a spider's web.
Crash.
Like a mirror shattered to pieces, the golden blade disintegrated abruptly, dissolving into countless motes of light that filled the sky and earth.
Yang Kai had shot forward fast, but he came back even faster. His entire body hurtled downward like a meteor falling from the heavens, slamming straight into the ground. Even the dragon silhouette that had been wrapped around his body shattered apart.
He hit the ground hard, bounced once, and spat out a mouthful of blood. His aura had withered to the point of near-extinction, and he lay motionless on the ground.
Only the Mysterious Boundary Bead continued its ceaseless devouring of the laws and spiritual energy in this place.
A long while passed before Yang Kai let out a faint groan. He tried to move and was met with excruciating pain throughout his body. It felt as though every bone inside him had been broken.
He hurriedly pulled spirit pills from his Space Ring, popped them into his mouth, and forced himself into a cross-legged sitting posture, silently cycling his Profound Art.
Half a day later, Yang Kai slowly rose to his feet. His face was still pale—the previous battle had drained him enormously, and he would need some time to recover. However, he could not stay here any longer. He could clearly feel that this world was on the verge of collapse; the surrounding space had become dangerously unstable.
He recalled the Mysterious Boundary Bead. Yang Kai cast one final glance at this world before returning to the buffer zone.
Another day later, Yang Kai burst into a cloud of dazzling green mist in high spirits, entering a world where the wood-element laws were twisted.
In this world, Yang Kai encountered an old acquaintance—Wood Demons!
Not just one or two, but swarms of them, thousands upon thousands...
The Wood Demons possessed extraordinarily powerful life force, and their seeds had the ability to parasitize hosts. Every single one was a creature that was nearly impossible to kill.
Too bad for them that they ran into Yang Kai.
What the Wood Demons feared most were fire-element techniques and secret arts. Although Yang Kai now relied primarily on his space-based divine abilities, he had originally entered the martial path through fire-element techniques, and he also cultivated the flames of Divine Sense.
The Wood Demons had truly met their nemesis.
The encounters in this world were far more manageable than in the metal-element world. Holding his ground alone, with the flames of his Divine Sense blanketing the area, the Wood Demons simply could not get close.
Two more days passed before the Mysterious Boundary Bead finished devouring the laws of this world.
Returning to the buffer zone once more, Yang Kai pressed on without pause, unwilling to waste a single moment, deliberately seeking out the Five Elements laws.
The towering tidal waves and ocean prisons of the water-element law world, the earthen stone puppets of the earth-element law world—each one possessing the power to topple nations—were all cut down by Yang Kai one after another.
Twenty-five days after entering the Five-Colored Pagoda, within the fire-element law world, Yang Kai's expression was grim. He swung the Million Sword downward, channeling every last drop of Emperor Essence into a single beam of sword light that cleaved through the body of the Ancient Flame Demon before him.
