"Madam Feng, didn't you say you couldn't cause too much of a ruckus inside a human sect? You just killed the Grand Elder's grandson in one fell swoop — that's probably not ideal, is it?" Yang Kai glanced at Luan Feng, whose face was still icy cold.
Luan Feng gritted her teeth. "They had the audacity to lay hands on me! Was I supposed to just let him grope me at will?"
After a pause, she added angrily, "And you're no good either, Mr. Yang!"
"What kind of talk is that..." Yang Kai was speechless. "What does this have to do with me? He was the one trying to assault you, not me."
Luan Feng glared at him. "Why did you dodge out of the way?!"
Yang Kai had more than enough ability to stop what just happened, yet he had deliberately stepped aside. That had infuriated Luan Feng to no end. Had Yang Kai not moved, she wouldn't have been driven to such fury that she killed the man outright.
"Heh..." Yang Kai let out a dry laugh. "Reflexes, just reflexes. He was trash anyway — dead is dead. Madam Feng, don't worry about it."
Luan Feng kept her cold expression, still somewhat resentful. She suspected Yang Kai had done it on purpose to drag her down with him. And now, in a moment of rage, she had killed the Grand Elder's grandson — she had effectively made an enemy of the Yellow Springs Sect.
"Do you... do you even know who he was?" In the background, the woman who had been vomiting repeatedly had finally regained her composure and accepted the reality of the Grand Elder's grandson dying miserably before her eyes. But she still couldn't help staring at Yang Kai and the others in shock.
These people had some nerve — they had killed the Grand Elder's grandson and were acting as if nothing had happened. Not only were they not fleeing, but they were standing here chatting casually.
"When he announced himself earlier, I caught it. The Grand Elder's grandson, right?" Yang Kai said with a grin, looking at the woman.
"You people..." The woman was completely dumbfounded. The alluring, amorous gleam that had been in her eyes was now replaced with sheer horror, and she couldn't find the words. But she knew one thing for certain — the Grand Elder would never let them go. The Grand Elder's lineage was thin; by the third generation, only this grandson remained. Unfortunately, the fellow was talentless and refused to study, with poor aptitude to boot. All he ever thought about was chasing after women.
Quite a few senior and junior sisters within the sect had fallen victim to him. Some threw themselves at him willingly, while others were forcibly violated.
Because he was the Grand Elder's grandson, his cultivation resources were abundant and plentiful. Many senior and junior sisters had set their sights on him, disrobing willingly in exchange for useful cultivation resources — and she herself was one of them. As for those who had been forcibly violated, they had no way to seek revenge, because the fellow had the Grand Elder's protection.
Still, the fellow was clever enough. The sisters he forced himself upon were all of low standing within the sect — even if they suffered, they had nowhere to turn. As for those with status, he never used force, instead luring them with profit.
She herself had boarded that ship in exactly the same way.
Who could have guessed that after sacrificing her body, she wouldn't receive a single benefit and would instead witness his death with her own eyes?
These three — the man and the two women — were certainly doomed, but she herself would probably be implicated as well...
The thought of the Grand Elder's wrath sent a shiver down her spine, and her face turned even paler.
"Don't be afraid," Yang Kai said gently. "We won't do anything to you."
"What do you people want?" the woman asked, her voice trembling on the verge of tears.
"Where is your Sect Master, Fu Bo, right now?" Yang Kai asked with a pleasant smile. But that harmless expression, when seen through the woman's eyes, made him seem more terrifying than a demon.
She instinctively pointed in a direction. "That peak over there is where the Sect Master cultivates."
"Oh?" Yang Kai looked in the direction she pointed and nodded slightly. "Thanks!"
With that, he flew toward the peak with Ji Yao and Luan Feng in tow.
The remaining Yellow Springs Sect woman stood there in a daze, her soul seemingly gone. After a long moment, she suddenly shuddered and hurriedly flew toward another peak.
She needed to report what had just happened to the Grand Elder immediately — if the Grand Elder investigated on his own before being informed, she was as good as dead.
At the summit of the peak, yin energy was dense and thick. A massive formation appeared to be protecting the area, preventing the substance-like yin energy from leaking outward.
And within that dense yin energy, faint sounds of ghostly wailing and wolfish howling could be heard, sending chills down one's spine.
The moment the three of them arrived, a furious shout rang out from within: "Who goes there?!"
"Fu Bo?" Yang Kai raised an eyebrow and called out.
"Insolent whelp — how dare you address this seat by name? Are you courting death?!" The voice came again.
"So you are Fu Bo after all." Yang Kai flashed a wide grin, strode forward, and walked directly into the thick yin energy, vanishing from sight. Ji Yao and Luan Feng hurried after him.
The yin energy cloaking the mountaintop appeared to serve only as a cultivation aid — it held no defensive or illusory properties. Yang Kai led Ji Yao and Luan Feng straight through, and the view before them suddenly opened up.
A palace materialized before them.
Releasing a thread of divine sense, Yang Kai immediately sensed a powerful aura emanating from within the palace.
He stepped inside and, sure enough, saw a burly, imposing man standing there. Those piercing eyes looked his way with natural authority, his expression dark and grim.
