Chapter 2381: The Way to Leave

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 961 words

"What are you doing?" stared coldly at Sander, his voice frigid.

"Easy there, young friend." Sander showed not the slightest awareness of having launched a sneak attack, watching with a beaming smile. "I was merely conducting a small test on you. No ill intentions."

"Are you joking? What kind of test requires a sneak attack — and a soul-based one at that!" was seething with anger. If it had been anyone else whose soul wasn't as strong as his, they'd be lying on the ground screaming for their parents right now.

A soul injury was no minor wound. instantly lost all goodwill toward Sander.

"It's because what I need to do requires the use of soul power. If I hadn't seen you handle an opponent of equal rank so effortlessly outside the door earlier, I wouldn't have bothered testing you."

snorted coldly. "So I should feel honored?"

And from the sound of it, Sander had been watching when he fought with Yu Leping outside earlier.

"Young friend, please be patient and hear me out." Sander raised a hand in a calming gesture.

glared at him for a long moment but could do little about it. After all, he was the one asking for help. Even if he不满 Sander's methods, he'd have to wait until the Purifying Spirit Formation was repaired first.

Seeing sit down, Sander put on a pleasant smile. "I'd like to ask — how long have you been trapped in this godforsaken place?"

's heart skipped a beat. Had the old fox figured something out? That he was new here? But he'd just said he didn't lack Source Crystals, so there was no reason to make a move on him. Thoughts churned in his mind, but his expression remained unchanged. "Why do you ask?"

Sander smiled. "If you won't say, then so be it. I've been trapped here for nine hundred years."

sneered inwardly. *Good — I hope you rot here till you die.*

Sander sighed. "Nine hundred years ago, I was at Dao Source Stage Three. Nine hundred years later, I'm still at Dao Source Stage Three! The only thing that's improved is my artifact refining skill. But so what if I can refine artifacts? I still can't leave. If I can't leave this place, there's no way to break through to the Emperor Venerable Realm, and sooner or later I'll die here."

furrowed his brow slightly. He didn't know what Sander was getting at, but he said nothing and held his tongue, listening.

"No matter how long you've been trapped here, I only have one question..." Sander's expression suddenly turned serious, his eyes blazing with intensity. He spoke in a deep voice: "Do you want to leave this place?"

's heart trembled. He fixed his gaze on Sander. "You have a way out?"

Sander smiled faintly, answering with a question of his own: "Do I or don't I... hehehe..."

That infuriating response made 's blood boil. He wanted to grab Sander right now and use the Soul Search technique to see what exactly was rattling around in that old skull.

He had originally planned to stay here for a while and slowly investigate ways to leave. But now, hearing these hints from Sander, how could he not be tempted?

He pondered for a moment, then spoke: "Master, let's not beat around the bush. You say you have a way to leave, but I find that hard to believe. Several Emperor Venerable Realm experts on this island are trapped here too. If there were a way out, wouldn't they have left already?"

"They are them, and I am me — don't lump us together!" Sander tossed his head dismissively, arrogance in every line. "Besides, the method I possess is one that even Emperor Venerable Realm experts couldn't use even if they knew about it."

frowned. "If even the Emperor Venerable Realm can't leave, how could you manage it?"

"That's my business!" Sander snorted, growing somewhat impatient. "That I came to you at all is your fortune. Whether you can seize it depends on your own ability."

Sander seemed given to sudden mood swings. was certain that if he refused, the old man would kill him to silence him. Sander might be an artifact refiner, but according to what he'd said, he'd already been at Dao Source Stage Three nine hundred years ago. His artifact refining skills had been honed on Heavenly Path Island — his strength was definitely no joke.

He'd already revealed this information. Now had only two choices: cooperate or become enemies.

"If this truly is an opportunity, I naturally won't miss it. But how do I know you're telling the truth?" adopted a look of skepticism. "At the very least, you need to tell me where the exit is."

Sander smiled. "You're a cautious young man. I like working with cautious people." He paused. "The exit is located in the Silence Void Sea."

's lips curled in contempt. That was practically saying nothing.

He knew firsthand how vast the Silence Void Sea was. Sander saying the exit was somewhere in the Silence Void Sea was like saying it was somewhere on the planet — who could find it, and how could it be verified?

Sander said: "I'll tell you the truth — I'm not the only one who knows the exit's location. Two others know as well!"

"Who?" raised an eyebrow.

"The City Lord of Heavenly Path and the Master of Ice Heart Pavilion!" Sander let out a cold snort. "Those two are the most powerful people on the entire Heavenly Path Island."
