Chapter 2326: Secret Realm

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 943 words

"So this is the Void Corridor?" Ye Jinghan covered her crimson lips, letting out a soft exclamation.

Although she had used spatial formations to travel between locations many times and knew that void corridors connected such formations, she had never actually seen one with her own eyes.

This was a first.

Though equally shocked, Ye Hen stared unblinkingly at the void corridor, seemingly trying to glean some insight from it.

The chance to witness a void corridor didn't come often—especially one that had been forcibly opened, with its traces clearly visible. If he could truly gain something from this, the benefits would be immeasurable.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't grasp the traces of that spatial power, and frustration quickly consumed him.

Meanwhile, Yang Kai had already risen to his feet. His figure blurred as he shot into the void corridor. The instant he vanished, the torn-open corridor seemed to lose its support, snapping shut in the blink of an eye.

Father and daughter both wore expressions of worry, uncertain whether Yang Kai's journey would go smoothly or whether he would become lost in the void rifts, never to find his way back.

Inside the corridor, Yang Kai walked forward at a leisurely pace.

The surrounding void currents surged toward him, but a mysterious force emanating from his body deflected them to the side, unable to harm him in the slightest.

His mastery of spatial power had long since left behind the days when he was a novice. The Laws of Space had sunk deep into his very bones, so these mere void currents posed no obstacle to him whatsoever.

What gave him some trouble at the moment was locating the exit to the secret realm.

Although two formation bases were linked to each other, the one inside the realm had been damaged countless years ago. Yang Kai could only vaguely sense the connection coming from the other end—he couldn't be entirely certain.

Within the void corridor, he could only follow that faint connection and advance quickly in its direction.

Fortunately, as time passed, that subtle link grew increasingly clear, confirming to Yang Kai that he was heading the right way.

He didn't know how long had passed before Yang Kai suddenly stopped at a particular spot, releasing his spiritual sense to probe the area for a moment. He murmured to himself, "It should be here."

As he spoke, he once again employed his spatial power, slowly extending both hands forward into the turbulent void currents. Wherever his hands passed, layers of ripples spread outward, and the currents were smoothed flat like crinkled paper.

As Yang Kai spread his hands apart, a sliver of light suddenly appeared ahead.

Yang Kai's brows rose—he knew his sensing had been correct. He increased his effort further.

Shortly after, Yang Kai tore open another rift in the corridor. Through that rift, he could vaguely make out scenery that was distinctly different from the void, and delight welled up in his heart. Without hesitation, he shot straight through.

A faint sensation of weightlessness washed over him, but Yang Kai quickly steadied himself. Once his vision cleared, he found that he had arrived in an entirely different world.

The spiritual energy here was extraordinarily dense—not one bit inferior to his own Minor World. The concentrated spiritual energy had even begun to take on a misty quality, a sight that left one in awe. With such rich spiritual energy, the vegetation here thrived remarkably, with thick, lush grass blanketing the ground.

And right where he stood, there sat a formation base platform.

This platform was identical to the one Yang Kai had previously seen in the Illusory Formation valley of the Thousand Leaves Sect—clearly crafted by the same hand. It was the counterpart to that other formation base, the piece that linked the two together.

However, probably because it hadn't been used in many years, the platform was overgrown with grass, giving it a somewhat dilapidated appearance.

Seeing this formation base, Yang Kai knew he had come to the right place. This had to be the Thousand Leaves Sect's secret realm—the very foundation upon which the sect had once flourished. It was also, ironically, the reason for the sect's decline.

Yang Kai waved his hand, and a wave of searing heat spread outward, instantly incinerating all the grass to ash and revealing the intact platform beneath.

He swept his spiritual sense across it, wanting to determine what problem had prevented the two locations from connecting.

Before long, he made a discovery and let out a soft murmur of surprise.

The situation was roughly what he had expected, but there were some discrepancies.

The formation base platform here had indeed developed a problem—but it wasn't a natural defect. It had been caused by someone.

Yang Kai found that among the formation diagrams inscribed on the platform, a sword slash cut clean through the entire surface. It was precisely the damage to these formation diagrams that had created the flaw in the platform, rendering it unusable.

How had this happened? Yang Kai couldn't help but grow suspicious.

According to what Ye Jinghan had told him, the Thousand Leaves Sect's gradual decline had begun when the entrance to this secret realm suddenly sealed shut. If that had been all, the sect wouldn't have deteriorated so thoroughly. The critical issue was that when the entrance closed, the Sect Master at the time had still been inside the realm. That Sect Master had brought the majority of the sect's techniques and secret arts with him, severing the Thousand Leaves Sect's lineage of inheritance. That was why the sect had slowly withered away.
