On this day, Yang Kai was skimming along the ground in flight when he suddenly halted, lifting his gaze toward the distant sky.
Far off on the horizon, streaks of radiant light were slicing through the heavens and plunging toward the earth below, as spectacular and varied as a meteor shower.
Those streaks of light were none other than the fragmented Laws he had been desperately searching for these past several days—only the scale of this display dwarfed his first encounter by an enormous margin, with countless times more streaks than before.
Overjoyed, he wasted no time and shot forward with a sudden burst of speed.
Three hours later, Yang Kai arrived at a valley.
What greeted his eyes froze him in his tracks.
At the center of the valley, a massive cluster of brilliant light was radiating a blinding glow, and even as he watched, streaks of light continued to rain down from the sky, converging into that mass of luminescence and adding to its brightness.
That cluster of light was the aggregate of all the streaks falling from the heavens.
"So many!" Even with his expectations tempered, Yang Kai was stunned by the sight before him.
The total amount of light he and the Mysterious World Bead had absorbed previously probably didn't amount to even a fraction of what was gathered here—and yet even that small portion had benefited him enormously and wrought tremendous changes upon the Mysterious World Bead. If he could absorb every last bit of the light in this valley, his comprehension of the Laws would surely rise to the Dao Source Realm level, and his future advancement would pose no difficulty whatsoever.
The small world within the Mysterious World Bead might even undergo a fundamental transformation.
With delight coloring his face, Yang Kai darted forward and came to a stop roughly thirty zhang from the cluster of light.
It wasn't that he didn't want to get closer—the Laws contained within that mass of light were simply too vast and overwhelming for him to approach. If he recklessly ventured inward, he would likely be ground to dust by the chaotic Laws.
The light cluster ahead was so massive that it hummed with a low vibration, appearing highly unstable.
Yang Kai took a deep breath, released the Insect Mother and the Azure Flame Thunderjackal, and had them stand guard nearby. Then he sat down cross-legged and began circulating his cultivation technique.
In an instant, as though responding to some invisible force of attraction, brilliant rays of mystic light shot out from the enormous cluster and surged toward where Yang Kai sat. These rays carried no destructive power whatsoever, streaming into his body one after another and vanishing within.
The moment those rays of mystic light flooded in, Yang Kai found that he could perceive the subtleties of the Laws with newfound clarity.
Without further hesitation, he immersed his mind and devoted himself to contemplation.
As a Void King Realm cultivator, there was no way he could absorb that many rays of mystic light on his own. Just as before, once his body had reached its limit, the excess rays flowed into the Mysterious World Bead instead, becoming part of the small world within and refining its Laws.
Time drifted slowly onward.
Yang Kai's expression shifted ceaselessly—furrowing his brows one moment, smoothing them the next, looking lost in confusion, then suddenly struck by understanding…
And from within the light cluster, the streams of mystic light grew ever more numerous and dense.
Yet Yang Kai was like a bottomless pit—no matter how many rays poured in, he swallowed them all without fail.
Three or four days passed in the blink of an eye.
Under Yang Kai's unrestrained absorption, the massive light cluster had already shrunk several times over, and the glow it emitted was no longer as intense as before—though rays of mystic light still continuously shot forth from within, surging into his body and disappearing.
At some indeterminate moment, Yang Kai's eyes snapped open, a contemplative look settling over his features.
After a moment's pondering, he suddenly extended his hand and traced a line through the air before him. At the tip of his finger, an inexplicable force flowed—and in the wake of his gesture, a pitch-black spatial rift materialized.
Yang Kai hadn't employed his own spatial power at all, yet he had still achieved this. Everything was owed to the Laws of heaven and earth.
Dao Source Realm warriors could gain an initial understanding of the Laws and harness them to enhance their most powerful techniques.
Yang Kai had now touched the very edge of the Laws, all thanks to these days of unrestrained contemplation and absorption.
However… his comprehension of the Laws was still shallow, so the moment his finger passed through, the narrow spatial rift sealed itself almost at once and could not be maintained for long.
He sent his divine sense inward to examine the Void King Crystal within his body.
The Void King Crystal, already as dark and lightless as a black hole, now shimmered with a faint trace of luminous glow across its surface.
Yang Kai's Void King Crystal had been condensed from every insight and understanding he possessed regarding spatial power, allowing him to project that power with greater efficacy. Now that he had perceived the Laws, the crystal had been imbued with their force as well, becoming far more profound and unfathomable.
From this point forward, so long as Yang Kai willed it, he could draw upon the Laws of heaven and earth to a limited degree.
And these were none other than the enigmatic Laws of Space!
This enhancement represented a qualitative leap—a fundamental transformation. Though with his current strength he could not draw upon it many times, once he advanced to the Dao Source Realm, everything would be entirely different.
Satisfied, he closed his eyes and resumed absorbing the mystic light alongside the small world.
Two more days passed. The cluster of light had shrunk to barely a tenth of its original size, and the radiance it emitted had grown dim, as though after this prolonged absorption it was nearly spent.
Yang Kai remained utterly oblivious, wholly absorbed in his own contemplation.
Then, without warning, a faint moan drifted from ahead.
The sound was soft, yet unmistakably real.
Yang Kai had thought it might be his imagination, but when the second moan reached his ears, his expression changed and he quickly opened his eyes.
