Chapter 1944: Guardian Bian

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 1,094 words

Guardian Bian wished to see Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun, and the two guards at the Bone Prison naturally dared not disobey. Entering the prison, they brought the two out.

"Boy, my agreement with you remains valid at any time. Should the day come when you have nowhere left to turn, you may come find me."

Just as Yang Kai was about to leave the Bone Prison, Wu Mengchuan's voice once again rang in his ears.

Yang Kai didn't slow his steps, acting as though he hadn't heard, and soon disappeared from sight, leaving behind only the envious gazes of the martial artists imprisoned within the Bone Prison.

Upon emerging outside, Yang Kai immediately sensed a venomous gaze fixed upon him. Looking up, he found that it was none other than Yan Xiuran, who had given him trouble before.

He was in charge of guarding the entrance to the Bone Prison, so naturally he remained stationed here.

Yang Kai had killed his Treasure-Plundering Serpent by biting it to death, and Yan Xiuran's hatred for Yang Kai ran bone-deep. All the torment Yang Kai had suffered these past days had been instigated by him.

"Consider yourself lucky, boy, that Guardian Bian would even spare the time to see you. But don't get cocky—sooner or later you'll fall into my hands, and when that day comes, I'll make you wish you were dead!" Yan Xiuran laughed coldly, his voice sinister.

Yang Kai's expression remained cold as he mentally cursed Yan Xiuran's ancestors for eighteen generations, silently resenting his own lack of power. Otherwise, he would have slaughtered every one of these Jade Feather Sect Disciples on the spot.

But he also knew that their strength was far too great. Even if he fought with everything he had, the end would only be a miserable one, so he could only endure for now, turning a deaf ear to Yan Xiuran's provocations.

"Alright, alright, Brother Yan, no need to get worked up. Guardian Bian wants to see these two, so we shouldn't delay." The Bone Prison guard smiled slightly, said a word to Yan Xiuran, and casually tossed out an object.

It was clearly another flying Artifact, but entirely different from the tower ship Senior Brother Kou had shown before. This flying Artifact resembled more of a war chariot—its interior wasn't as spacious as the tower ship, but it was more than enough to hold four or five people. From the outside, it looked extremely fierce, brimming with imposing momentum.

The chariot's owner hopped straight aboard. Then, with a wave of his hand, Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun were swept into the chariot. In the next instant, the chariot transformed into a streak of light and shot toward a location on Jade Feather Mountain.

The journey was silent.

Before long, the chariot arrived at a mountain peak, upon which stood a magnificent palace. The chariot descended to land before the palace entrance.

After Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun stepped down from the chariot, the Bone Prison guard retrieved his flying Artifact, stepped forward, and exchanged a few quiet words with the guards at the palace entrance.

"Go on in. The Guardian is waiting inside." The palace guards had no intention of giving them trouble and readily let them pass.

"Good luck to you two!" The Bone Prison guard had no intention of going in either. He gave Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun a slight smile, summoned the chariot once more, and headed back the way he'd come.

Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun exchanged a glance, knowing that whatever this was—blessing or curse—it couldn't be avoided. They could only steel themselves and press on, silently praying that this Guardian Bian would not be an unreasonable person.

With their strength still sealed, the two of them couldn't hope to make even the slightest ripple within the Jade Feather Sect, a place brimming with experts.

Ignoring the curious scrutiny of the guards on either side, Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun walked step by step into the palace.

The interior of the palace was spacious, and ahead, two people were waiting.

The moment Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun appeared, the gazes of those two fell squarely upon them.

In an instant, Yang Kai felt his skin tighten all over as a sensation of being probed spread across his entire body, making him extremely uncomfortable.

Meeting those gazes, Yang Kai couldn't help but frown.

He found that one of the two was Senior Brother Kou—the very man who had captured him—who now stood beside another person. That second figure was none other than a woman of graceful bearing and bewitching charm.

She reclined languidly in a chair, dressed in a pale blue palace gown, her beautiful hair pinned up in a bun, her neck fair and slender. Her fingers toyed with some unknown object, and a faint, ambiguous smile played at the corners of her lips as she observed him with evident interest.

This woman was obviously a stunning beauty capable of ensnaring the hearts of all who beheld her, yet Yang Kai could sense that within her body was concealed a power so great that he dared not look at her directly!

Could this woman be Guardian Bian? Yang Kai was inwardly astonished.

"So these are the ones you brought back a few days ago?" Once Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun had drawn closer, the beautiful woman finally spoke, her tone unhurried.

Her voice was sweet and honeyed, exceedingly pleasant to hear. As it entered one's ears, it was like an invisible slender hand plucking at one's heartstrings, stirring the blood to surge with excitement.

These words were clearly directed at Senior Brother Kou.

Senior Brother Kou hastily bowed, lowering his gaze as though he didn't dare look at the beautiful woman, and replied respectfully, "Reporting to my lady—these are the two!"

The beautiful woman nodded slightly, an unusual light shimmering in her luminous eyes. Her red lips moved as she said calmly, "Release their restrictions."

Upon hearing this, Senior Brother Kou immediately formed hand seals, then pointed at Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun.

Two beams of mystical light shot forth and surged into their bodies.

In the next moment, Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun both let out an involuntary soft groan as the power that had been bound finally began flowing through their bodies once more, filling them with a sense of relief and pleasure.

"Hehe..." The beautiful woman suddenly let out a soft chuckle, and then, before Yang Kai and Liu Xianyun's astonished eyes, she slowly raised one jade-white palm.
