Chapter 1876: A Terrific Uproar

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 955 words

Kuang Shizong was decisive in killing and wild in temperament — he certainly wouldn't give weight to Yang Kai's empty threat. Even as the words left his mouth, he extended his hand and pointed a finger at Shen Tu, his posture making it clear he truly intended to end Shen Tu's life.

Shen Tu's face went deathly pale as he felt the aura of death descending upon him, his entire body plunging into ice.

Just then, a mysterious force rippled through the air, and Yang Kai vanished from where he stood.

Kuang Shizong's eyes narrowed. His outstretched hand clenched into a fist in an instant, and the tremendous power of a Void King Third Stage cultivator erupted forth, blasting toward the void ahead.

Right in that spot, Yang Kai materialized like a phantom, positioning himself between Kuang Shizong and Shen Tu's group. His expression was utterly solemn, palms pressed together, as he shoved them violently forward.

Secret Art — Banishment!

Spatial power surged, and a void black hole materialized before Kuang Shizong. The black hole was like the gaping maw of a beast, poised to devour him. Inside lay nothing but primordial chaos — even a powerhouse like Kuang Shizong couldn't help but shudder when he sensed the aura emanating from within.

The full might of a Void King Third Stage erupted.

BOOM...

A thunderous impact rang out. The open black hole shattered inch by inch like a broken mirror, but the chaotic spatial energy sprayed in all directions, transforming into countless attacks that bombarded Kuang Shizong.

"Insolent brat!" Kuang Shizong flew into a rage. His body shook, and Holy Yuan rolled outward, forming a protective barrier that blocked the chaotic spatial energy.

Swoosh swoosh swoosh...

Piercing sounds rang out one after another as massive crescent-shaped energy slashes hurtled toward Kuang Shizong.

Secret Art — Moon Blade!

Kuang Shizong's eyes narrowed again. Sensing the devastating lethal power contained in the Moon Blades, he dared not hold back. He opened his mouth and spat out an Artifact resembling a jade ruyi scepter. It twisted and morphed, transforming into a colossal bird that towered toward the heavens.

The giant bird had three heads, each one the size of a house. As its wings beat, the wind-elemental energy between heaven and earth gathered and condensed into countless wind blades, hurtling to meet the Moon Blades.

A cacophony of explosions erupted as the Moon Blades and wind blades formed an impenetrable zone of carnage in midair, as if they could shred the very sky apart.

A fist emerged from the chaotic battle zone and hurtled toward Kuang Shizong, multicolored radiance blooming around it. It was unmistakably Yang Kai's Immortal Sword Qi.

Kuang Shizong reacted swiftly, meeting it with a fist of his own.

With a deafening crack, Kuang Shizong's body shook and swayed three times — but he held his ground. Yang Kai, on the other hand, was sent hurtling backward. Midair, his face paled slightly as he forced his Holy Yuan to circulate, neutralizing the energy that had invaded his body.

The exchange between the two had been as swift as lightning. Many onlookers couldn't even tell what had happened. Even those Elder-level Void King First Stage cultivators watched in a daze. Only Gongsun Liang and Li Maoming had managed to follow the entire sequence.

Both of them sucked in a sharp breath and exchanged glances, reading the shock in each other's eyes.

When the two of them had previously joined forces against Yang Kai and still found themselves at a disadvantage, they had already known that Yang Kai was no ordinary Void King Second Stage. Back then, they had speculated that he might be qualified to cross blows with a Third Stage cultivator.

But speculation was merely speculation — it couldn't be taken as fact. After all, they had no way of gauging just how powerful a Void King Third Stage truly was.

And now, it was happening right before their very eyes.

Yang Kai had truly traded several blows with Kuang Shizong. Though he was clearly at a disadvantage and had apparently sustained minor injuries, there was no sign of him being defeated!

Who was Kuang Shizong? He was a monster who had lived for several thousand years — you couldn't find more than a handful of such people in the entire star domain. Every Void King Third Stage possessed the power to annihilate a star, their depths utterly unfathomable to ordinary people. They were the pinnacle of martial cultivation, living legends of invincibility.

Yet Yang Kai had managed to walk away from such a person unscathed.

Not only that —

He had even taken away those people from the Heng Luo Trading Company right under Kuang Shizong's nose!

This discovery left Li Maoming and Gongsun Liang standing there, completely stupefied. Again and again they asked themselves: if it were them in his place, could they have done the same?

The answer was obviously no. They likely would have been wounded and forced back the moment Kuang Shizong launched his first attack.

Over Purple Star City, Kuang Shizong's expression shifted repeatedly — not embarrassment or anger, but gravity. He stared fixedly at Yang Kai, not saying a word.

Not far away, Yang Kai stood with Shen Tu and the others shielded behind him. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, tilted his head up slightly, and locked eyes with Kuang Shizong.

After a long moment, Kuang Shizong abruptly asked, "Spatial power?"

"You have a truly discerning eye, Senior!" Yang Kai flashed him a grin.

"You actually know such an obscure power — and have mastered it to this degree!" Kuang Shizong's mind was reeling so hard his eyes nearly popped from their sockets.
