Just as
After watching quietly for a while, Yang Kai noticed that Su Yan showed no sign of finishing. She had likely reached a critical juncture in her Cultivation.
He didn't disturb her. Instead, he sat cross-legged on the ground and began tracing lines of spiritual energy in the empty air before him.
The spiritual threads, condensed from his saint energy, were arranged and combined according to a specific pattern, gradually forming an intricate formation.
After studying it for a moment, Yang Kai's expression turned dissatisfied. He waved his hand, dispersing the formation, and began inscribing it anew in the void.
This formation was something he had just learned from
Yang Kai had never delved into the art of formations before.
But he possessed an advantage others lacked — a profound mastery of spatial power. Studying a spatial formation specifically was therefore not too difficult, especially with Yang Yan's patient guidance.
Time flowed steadily onward. Yang Kai lost himself entirely in his work, his expression growing more focused with each passing moment.
He had no idea how many formations he had inscribed until, at some point, his face finally lit up with deep satisfaction. With a movement of his spiritual consciousness, he poured his own spatial power into the formation.
A low hum resonated through the air as the formation blazed with astonishing light, its entire structure spinning at an uncanny speed.
Ripples of clearly discernible spatial energy radiated outward from the formation's surface.
Yang Kai grinned.
As expected, once he had mastered spatial power, studying the corresponding formations yielded twice the results with half the effort. Had it been any other type of formation, even with systematic study, Yang Kai might not have been able to complete one from scratch in such a short time.
Now that he had grasped the foundation, the remaining steps involved using materials to construct the formation's framework, merging the base with that framework, and linking it with at least two other spatial formations. That would enable long-range teleportation.
Yang Kai let out a soft breath.
"Is that a spatial formation?" Su Yan's voice drifted over from nearby.
He looked up and realized she had finished her Cultivation at some point without him noticing. She stood quietly beside him, her gaze fixed on the brightly spinning formation ahead, and asked softly.
"Mm." Yang Kai nodded and pulled Su Yan into his arms. "How did your Cultivation go?"
"Well enough. I think I'm close to bringing my force field to the Great Completion stage." Su Yan leaned against him, a look of contentment blooming across her face. Her breath was warm and fragrant. "It's all thanks to the domain stones you gave me. Without them, I couldn't have made such rapid progress."
"There are plenty more domain stones. Don't hold back when using them," Yang Kai said with a gentle smile, his body and mind completely relaxed.
"Mm. Did you come here for a reason this time?" she asked.
"No reason at all. I just haven't seen you in a while, so I came to visit," Yang Kai replied with a sheepish grin.
Su Yan nodded softly and lifted her gaze to the sky, watching the clouds drift and curl. Her eyelids drooped slightly as she shifted in his arms, settling into a more comfortable position.
Yang Kai held her without another word, and together they gazed up at the sky.
Beneath the great silver tree, snow slid from its branches. All was quiet. The scene was like a painting.
In the distance,
…
Half a month later. In the middle of the Worryfree Sea, at the main stronghold of the Sea Palace — Black Reef Island.
Black Reef Island was one of the largest islands in the Worryfree Sea, big enough to rank among the top three. What made it especially valuable was the exceptional richness of the ambient spiritual energy. That was precisely why the Sea Palace had established its headquarters here.
As the seat of the main stronghold, its defenses were naturally formidable. Warriors flew to and fro across the island on regular patrols, and Sea Palace disciples guarded every stretch of the shoreline. No unauthorized individuals were permitted entry.
Yang Kai arrived at a leisurely pace, alighting upon Black Reef Island.
Immediately, a squad of Sea Palace disciples surrounded him. The one at their front fixed Yang Kai with a hostile stare and barked, "Who goes there? State your name!"
Being on someone else's territory, Yang Kai didn't wish to make a scene. He offered a slight cupped-fist salute. "I am Yang Kai, Sect Master of the Lingxiao Sect. I've come to pay my respects to Elder Sha and fulfill the agreement I made with him. I'd appreciate it if you could pass along the message."
"The Sect Master of the Lingxiao Sect?"
