One day later, the spatial formation was fully repaired.
Yang Kai summoned Mo Yu and Yang Xiuzhu's group, then bid farewell to Qian Tong.
He had no concerns whatsoever about the Shadow Moon Palace side. Qian Tong had already reached the Void King Realm, making him the strongest expert Dark Star had seen in tens of thousands of years. If even he couldn't handle the Shadow Moon Palace's crisis, then all of Dark Star was probably finished.
"Brother Yang, take care on your journey." Wei Guchang cupped his fists in farewell.
Yang Kai returned the gesture.
"Yang Kai, which location does this spatial formation connect to?" Mo Yu asked from the side.
"Hmm... if I haven't made a mistake, it should connect to Demon Blood City!"
"What do you mean 'if you haven't made a mistake'?" Mo Yu stared, dumbfounded.
Demon Blood City was quite close to the Flowing Flame Sand Region and not far from the Qiantian Sect either, which was why Yang Kai had set the spatial formation to that destination. But his choice of words left Mo Yu more than a little uneasy.
Yang Kai gave an embarrassed smile. "This is the first time I've ever set up a spatial formation, so I can't guarantee it'll teleport us directly to Demon Blood City."
Mo Yu's jaw dropped, and Yang Xiuzhu and the others wore expressions of speechless resignation.
"But don't worry." Yang Kai read their faces and understood what they were fretting about. "Even if we don't land in Demon Blood City, the teleportation itself won't be dangerous. I can guarantee that much."
Only then did the group let out a sigh of relief.
Spatial formation teleportation was an extraordinarily perilous affair. The slightest error could send someone hurtling into the endless void, never to return. Over the years, Dark Star had seen no shortage of such incidents — spatial formations malfunctioning, causing those who attempted the transfer to vanish without a trace or be shredded apart by chaotic spatial forces.
That was why everyone had tensed up at Yang Kai's words.
But since Yang Kai could guarantee that this teleportation would be safe, there was nothing to worry about. Even if they ended up at the wrong location, it was no great matter. They could simply travel by Star Shuttle.
"It's getting late — let's set off now." Yang Xiuzhu was eager to return to Lingxiao Sect and see how things stood there.
Everyone nodded and stepped onto the spatial formation together. Yang Kai stood at the center, channeling his Sacred Origin to activate the entire formation. In an instant, the Sacred Crystals placed on the formation blazed with blinding light as their vast energy was drained in one gulp.
A dense surge of spatial power rippled outward, and the group vanished.
"Destroy the formation first — we can't let anyone teleport in from the outside!" Only after Yang Kai's group had disappeared did Qian Tong wave his hand.
Wei Guchang obeyed. He threw a punch at the formation Yang Kai had painstakingly reassembled, and its base split cleanly in two, rendering it unusable.
Qian Tong's sharp gaze swept across the distant horizon. In a low voice he said, "It's time to return to the Shadow Moon Palace."
Fei Zhitu and Wei Guchang both straightened, their eyes turning toward the direction of the Shadow Moon Palace. Every one of them radiated a terrifying killing intent.
...
In the void, a flash of light flickered, and Yang Kai's group materialized in a strange, silent place.
Everyone except Yang Kai felt dizzy and disoriented. It took quite a while before they gradually adjusted. Long-distance spatial teleportation almost always came with such side effects — only Yang Kai, who had cultivated spatial power, was able to regain his bearings in the shortest time possible.
Fortunately, there was no danger nearby, otherwise they would have been caught completely off guard.
Yang Xiuzhu looked around and exclaimed in astonishment, "This isn't Demon Blood City — where are we?"
They had appeared on an expansive plain. As far as the eye could see, there was not the slightest trace of any city.
The teleportation had indeed gone wrong.
Yang Kai had been mentally prepared for this, so he felt no embarrassment. "We should be somewhere between Demon Blood City and Tianyun City. Does anyone recognize this plain?"
Yang Xiuzhu, Chu Hanyi, and Lin Yurao all shook their heads slowly, indicating they had no idea where they were.
Though they were native Dark Star cultivators, they had spent years sequestered inside Star Emperor Mountain for secluded cultivation and knew very little about the outside world — less than Yang Kai, in fact. Asking them to identify their surroundings at a glance was, frankly, a tall order.
Mo Yu's eyes, however, lit up with a gleam of recognition. He looked around eagerly, then flew high into the air for a better vantage. After a moment he returned, his face brimming with excitement.
"I know where we are! This is the Bone Plains. There's a Sky-Rending Gorge nearby — we're only a day's journey from Mohai City."
"Oh? Mohai City under the Qiantian Sect?" Yang Kai was somewhat surprised.
"That's right!"
Yang Kai nodded slightly. It seemed the teleportation hadn't gone too far off course. And for Mo Yu, this might actually be welcome news — Mohai City was a settlement under the Qiantian Sect's jurisdiction, and its distance from the Qiantian Sect headquarters wasn't too great, much like the relationship between Tianyun City and the Shadow Moon Palace.
