Everything in life came with a price — the heavens were always fair.
Those with special constitutions enjoyed advantages in certain areas, but most of them carried flaws that could not be ignored.
Xia Ningshang's Medicine Spirit Sacred Physique allowed her to refine pills with ease and strengthen her Cultivation in the process. However, she could only improve her strength through pill refining. Meditating and Cultivating like an ordinary person was far too inefficient for her.
Shan Qingluo's lineage of the Black Widow often cost women their beloved, leaving them to live out their lives in solitude — and the tragedy was that they themselves would be the ones to create that sorrow, ruthlessly killing the one they loved on their wedding night.
For anyone, that was a form of torment beyond imagination.
Xue Yue's Dragon Marrow and Phoenix Constitution, formidable as it was, merely served to benefit others in the end.
Lin Yun'er's Tyrant Physique of Strength was no different.
That overwhelming, brutal power would eventually become something even Lin Yun'er herself could not endure. Once the force she unleashed exceeded what her physical body could bear, the final outcome would be self-destruction!
"There's no solution?" Yang Kai asked with some concern.
"There is!" Ye Xiyun nodded gently.
"Oh? Tell me about it. If there's a solution, then we just need to follow through." Yang Kai's eyes lit up. Lin Yun'er was still young, with limitless potential, and he didn't want this little girl to suffer because of her immense power — or worse, perish because of it.
"It sounds simple, but carrying it out…" Ye Xiyun laughed bitterly. "The flaw in Yun'er's physique is obvious. As long as we address that flaw and temper her physical body, it can be resolved. In other words, if her body becomes strong enough to support the output of her power, there will be no danger. But tempering the physical body requires a corresponding technique, and it can't be just any low-level one."
"A technique for tempering the physical body!" Yang Kai's expression turned peculiar.
"That's right. Star Emperor Mountain does have body-tempering techniques, but they're nowhere near sufficient for Yun'er's needs. I've spent the past few years searching for such a technique but haven't had much luck. The ones I've collected aren't even as good as what Star Emperor Mountain already has." Ye Xiyun looked somewhat downcast. "Yun'er has only been at the Sect for three years, and her strength has already grown to this terrifying degree. I'm afraid that if we let her continue unchecked, it won't even take ten years…"
"If you need a body-tempering technique… I happen to have one."
"The Sect Master has such a thing?" Ye Xiyun stared at him in surprise.
"Mm." Yang Kai produced a tome from his space ring as he spoke and handed it to Ye Xiyun. "Take a look at this."
Ye Xiyun took it, glancing at Yang Kai with a hint of doubt before sinking her consciousness into the technique. She studied it carefully.
Yang Kai didn't disturb her. Instead, he played with Lin Yun'er beside him. The little girl was still very young. Before coming to the Lingxiao Sect, she had lived with Huang Juan in Línhai City, cooped up indoors without ever seeing the daylight. She had no contact with the outside world, so her innocence was pure and unblemished — her childish chatter brought a sense of peace to Yang Kai's own heart.
Two hours later, Ye Xiyun let out a long breath and set the tome down, her eyes shining with delight.
"What does the Grand Elder think?" Yang Kai looked up.
"Excellent!" Ye Xiyun said with excitement. "It should work for Yun'er. This technique is quite unique — in terms of raw grade it's not particularly high, but the results of Cultivating it don't depend on the technique's grade. They depend on the materials."
"That's what I thought too. I've Cultivated this Indestructible Five Elements Sword myself. The higher the grade of materials you find, the better the body-tempering effect. It has very little to do with the technique itself." Yang Kai grinned. "The best part is that the materials needed for Cultivation can be substituted."
To Cultivate the Indestructible Five Elements Sword, one had to find Five Elements supreme treasures.
The lowest requirement was no less than the inner core of a tenth-rank demon beast.
Yang Kai had spent considerable effort back then to collect them all.
Now that the Lingxiao Sect had grown in power, gathering such Five Elements treasures shouldn't be difficult. Even if what they collected couldn't match Yang Kai's own Solar True Essence and Great Evolution Divine Sand, they should at least be able to obtain materials on the level of something like Profound Gold.
Once they had everything, Lin Yun'er could begin Cultivating. When better materials were found later, they could simply be swapped in — it wouldn't affect the practitioner in the slightest.
Ye Xiyun had recognized this as well, which was why she was so excited.
"Rest assured, Sect Master. I will only let Yun'er Cultivate this technique and will not pass it on to others," Ye Xiyun said solemnly.
"It doesn't matter. Even if you did pass it on, very few would be able to Cultivate it," Yang Kai chuckled.
The inner core of a tenth-rank demon beast was equivalent to the strength of a Void King Realm powerhouse. How many people could hunt such a creature? So the technique being spread would make little difference.
"However, Cultivating it requires very strong Divine Sense. Otherwise, one simply cannot endure that bone-drilling, soul-aching pain." Ye Xiyun cast a compassionate glance toward Lin Yun'er.
The little girl was still oblivious to the ways of the world. She didn't understand what was truly happening to her — she only knew she was incredibly strong, but she didn't realize that this power was like a noose tightening slowly around her life.
"That will be up to the Grand Elder, then, to guide her training," Yang Kai said with a smile.
"Mm. I'll arrange for Yun'er to begin Cultivating her Divine Sense as soon as possible," Ye Xiyun nodded.
"Let's set Yun'er's matter aside for now. Grand Elder, there's something else I need to discuss with you." Yang Kai's expression turned serious as he looked at her intently.
"Please speak, Sect Master."
"I'll be setting sail on a voyage before long. I'll be taking some disciples from the Sect, otherwise the warship can't be operated. Yang Xiuzhu, Chu Hanyi, and Lin Yurao — the three Elders — have already agreed to leave with me. What about you, Grand Elder? Will you come with me?"
"Me?" A flicker of longing crossed Ye Xiyun's face, but she quickly shook her head. "The Sect Master's kindness is appreciated, but I won't be going along."
"I figured…" Yang Kai sighed, as though he had expected this.
Ye Xiyun's strength was extraordinary — she could be called the foremost cultivator on the entire Dark Star. Her Momentum had already reached great completion, and she had touched the threshold of Domain, long qualifying for the Void King Realm.
In this regard alone, no one on the Dark Star could stand beside her.
It could be said that once freed from the constraints of the Dark Star's natural laws, Ye Xiyun's Cultivation base gave her at least an eighty percent chance of breaking through to the Void King Realm!
