Chapter 1531: Then Die

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 963 words

A centipede dies but never falls over, let alone someone like Qi Tianche, a powerhouse who had already touched the threshold of the Void King Realm.

Even though he was at a slight disadvantage, he refused to be disheartened. His only thought was to pour everything he had into crushing Yang Kai.

"Old thing, choosing to challenge this Sect Master to a contest of physical strength in a place like this was the biggest mistake of your life. Now it's time to pay the price for that choice!" Yang Kai was drenched in blood, yet he fought with exhilarating ferocity. With a roar, a layer of five-colored radiance suddenly erupted from within his body.

Gold, azure, white, red, and yellow — they merged and intertwined, resplendent and domineering. The five-colored light swirled around Yang Kai's body, emitting a hissing sound.

Indestructible Five Elements Sword Qi!

Yang Kai's aura, already at its absolute peak, surged once more. What followed was an even more terrifying eruption of power — a force that seemed capable of splitting heaven and earth — bursting forth from within him.

Qi Tianche was horrified beyond belief.

He had been locked in close combat with Yang Kai this entire time, exchanging fists and kicks. More than anyone else, he could clearly sense the changes in Yang Kai's body. When that five-colored radiance appeared, Yang Kai's strength had increased by more than thirty percent.

Thirty percent might not sound like much, but it had stretched his originally marginal advantage to its absolute limit.

BOOM...

Yang Kai threw a punch. Qi Tianche raised his hand to block, but he couldn't withstand this catastrophic blow at all. His hand was smashed back, slamming into his own chest.

The sound of cracking bone rang out. A chunk of Qi Tianche's chest caved inward, and his raised arm went limp.

His flesh and bones, tempered over hundreds or even thousands of years, couldn't withstand such a blow. They burst apart directly.

Clear sounds of snapping bone rang out one after another from within Qi Tianche's body as Yang Kai's fists rained down on his opponent like hailstones.

Watching from the sidelines, Fang Peng's face twitched uncontrollably, the corners of his eyes spasming wildly!

Qi Tianche screamed in terror, his courage completely shattered. He no longer dared to trade blows head-on with Yang Kai and instinctively began to dodge, trying to pull back.

But Yang Kai would never let him have his way.

Like a maddened beast, he threw himself at Qi Tianche and continued his relentless bombardment.

Qi Tianche's once supremely sturdy body was beaten into a bloody, mangled mess — hardly a single intact spot remained. Skin split open, flesh was exposed, bones shattered, and stark white bone fragments jutted out, clearly visible to the naked eye.

He screamed ceaselessly but had no way to dodge, blood spraying wildly from his body under Yang Kai's assault.

The battlefield he had deliberately chosen had become his fatal constraint, leaving him absolutely no room to maneuver or employ any movement techniques.

BANG...

Yang Kai threw yet another punch, striking Qi Tianche square on the bridge of his nose.

Under the tremendous force, Qi Tianche's nose was knocked sideways, making his already hideous face look as terrifying as a vengeful specter. His eyes were stained red with blood, blurring his vision. His body hurtled backward from the impact.

"Xiao Xiao!" Yang Kai bellowed.

The stone puppet, wielding the Heaven-Shaking Pillar, charged forward two heavy steps from behind and swung the black staff in its hands with full force.

BOOM...

The Heaven-Shaking Pillar smashed into Qi Tianche's back. The spine along his back seemed to shatter from the impact, and Qi Tianche was sent flying back again.

Yang Kai watched him coldly, not delivering the killing blow. He could sense that Xiao Xiao's strike had nearly stripped Qi Tianche of all ability to resist.

Like a dead fish, Qi Tianche crashed to the ground. He rolled a few times, then lay there, seemingly too weak to even move.

Yang Kai strode over to his side. Looking down at him from above, his gaze was as cold as a blade's edge, glinting with frost.

Qi Tianche opened his mouth, as if trying to say something, but no sound came out.

"Don't rush. Catch your breath. I still have questions for you." Yang Kai bared his teeth in a grin, every sharp fang stained with his own golden blood, gleaming brightly.

Qi Tianche closed his eyes, as if he had already resigned himself to his fate.

Yang Kai then raised his head to look at Fang Peng not far away, and let out a cold, sinister laugh, his eyes brimming with ill intent.

Being stared at like that, Fang Peng felt as though he had plunged into an ice cellar. His hands and feet trembled, and in a panic, he hurriedly called out: "Sect Leader Yang, please show mercy! Last time at Fallen Emperor Mountain, I was merely following orders. If I caused any offense, I offer my sincerest apologies here."

"Apologies?" Yang Kai curled his lip. "What would I do with your apologies?"

As he spoke, he pointed a finger at him and issued a cold command: "Kill him!"

The stone puppet shot forward, lunging toward Fang Peng.

The next moment, cries of alarm and the sounds of combat erupted from that direction.

Yang Kai paid it no further attention. Outside, the stone puppet might not necessarily have been able to kill Fang Peng. After all, he was a Return to Void Stage Three powerhouse — even if he couldn't win, he could still flee. But in here, it was a different matter entirely. In a space of merely thirty zhang across, Fang Peng had absolutely no opportunity to escape.
