The stalemate and confrontation persisted for a full three days and three nights, yet Yang Kai made no progress whatsoever.
On the contrary, his own Divine Sense had been completely exhausted, leaving his spiritual sea parched. Had it not been for the Seven-Colored Warm Spirit Lotus, a wondrous treasure for nourishing the soul, his current condition alone would have been enough to plunge him into utter ruin.
His entire skull felt as though it were pierced by a thousand needles, the pain threatening to split it apart.
Inside the guest chamber of the Heavenly First Palace, Yang Kai let out a low, muffled roar. The Demon Eye of Annihilation collapsed of its own accord, for without Divine Sense as its source, it simply could not be activated.
This was the first time the Demon Eye of Annihilation had utterly failed to achieve anything! In the past, whenever he deployed it, it was invariably effective, proving immensely useful whether in direct combat or as a deterrent.
Yet now, when used against the single remnant soul within the Dragon Bone Sword Cui, it was completely useless.
Far from being annoyed, Yang Kai was actually delighted.
The more difficult it was to handle, the greater the value of the Dragon Bone Sword. As long as he could find a way to subjugate the Dragon Soul, it could provide him with tremendous assistance.
What should he do to make it submit? Yang Kai panted heavily as he stared at the azure-green giant dragon before him, his mind racing in deep thought.
Suddenly, he seemed to recall something. His eyebrows shot up, a glimmer of excitement flashed in his eyes, and his expression grew unsettled. Though it was only a vague idea, it was definitely worth a try.
The saying goes that those involved are confused. Yang Kai had completely forgotten that within his own body resided another remnant dragon soul!
It was the Dragon Emperor’s Legacy he had obtained in the Forbidden Dragon Valley of the Dragon Phoenix Manor on the Profound Continent. Ever since obtaining that legacy, a golden dragon pattern had appeared on his body.
In the past, Yang Kai’s experience was limited, and he wasn’t discerning enough to recognize the mystery of this golden dragon pattern. However, ever since his last expedition to the Imperial Garden with Fei Zhitu and the others, he had become aware of the existence of the ancient Sacred Spirits.
Since the Phoenix Empress Legacy he brought from the Phoenix Nest was a remnant ice phoenix soul, then the Dragon Emperor Legacy he obtained in the Dragon Valley was surely the same.
Although he hadn’t verified it, Yang Kai felt his guess was likely eight or nine parts correct. There was no reason for the Dragon Emperor Legacy to be inferior to the Phoenix Empress Legacy!
Perhaps… he could use the Dragon Emperor Legacy to achieve this.
With this thought, Yang Kai hesitated no longer. Regardless, this was a method, and whether it would succeed or not depended on the will of heaven.
He reached out and unfastened his clothing, removing his shirt. His lean, powerful body was immediately exposed to the air.
Yang Kai’s physique didn’t look overly muscular, but his frame was perfectly proportioned. Beneath the blocks of muscle lurked immense power, making for a rather pleasing sight.
At this moment, two patterns existed on his body like tattoos. One was a golden dragon pattern. The other was an ice phoenix pattern. Both appeared remarkably lifelike.
However, there was a slight difference. The golden dragon pattern seemed alive, constantly writhing and moving across Yang Kai’s skin. The ice phoenix pattern, on the other hand, remained fixed in one place, immobile.
Ultimately, this ice phoenix pattern was the Phoenix Empress Legacy, which did not belong to Yang Kai. It merely used his body as a temporary vessel. The golden dragon pattern, however, was the Dragon Emperor Legacy and belonged to Yang Kai himself.
When Yang Kai’s spiritual sense swept over the ice phoenix pattern, he was startled to find that its eyeball had actually shifted, its gaze seemingly locking with his own. Then, it immediately went still again.
Yang Kai wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination.
However, Su Yan's figure flashed before Yang Kai's eyes. All things considered, the reason this ice phoenix pattern had remained on his body was precisely because he was meant to bring it to Su Yan. Unfortunately, over all these years, he had never had the chance to see the beauty again.
He wondered how she was doing now.
He wondered if anyone had been bullying her.
He also wondered whether her Cultivation had been going smoothly.
……
After a moment of silence, Yang Kai gathered his thoughts and turned his attention to the golden dragon pattern. He took a deep breath and, with a shift of his mind, began circulating the Yin-Yang Union Art. Although Su Yan was not cooperating with him, Yang Kai had long since mastered this technique, and running it was no difficult task.
His Holy Yuan surged forth, and the golden dragon pattern began swimming more vigorously, as though it had received some kind of nourishment.
Before long, a deafening dragon roar suddenly erupted from within him. A burst of dazzling golden light exploded outward, enveloping the entire chamber. The emerald-green hue that had filled the room instantly dimmed considerably.
The great emerald dragon that had been coldly watching Yang Kai, its eyes brimming with disdain, now wore a look of panic on its face. As though it had encountered its natural nemesis, its eyeballs trembled violently, and a trace of terror crept into its gaze.
Roar……
Golden light radiated outward from Yang Kai's body, and the phantom of a colossal golden dragon coalesced above his head like a lofty deity gazing down upon the emerald dragon below.
The two great dragons were roughly the same in size and identical in appearance—the only difference between them was their color.
