It seemed she sensed ’s arrival. slowly opened her beautiful eyes and looked at him through the transparent energy membrane.

When their eyes met, Yang Kai’s expression shifted in surprise.

For in that instant, he was horrified to discover that Yang Yan’s gaze felt strangely unfamiliar. It involuntarily made him feel a sense of inferiority, as if he were nothing but an ant before her.

But when he looked more closely, Yang Yan had returned to normal, as if everything just now had been nothing but his own illusion.

After that single glance, Yang Yan closed her beautiful eyes again, looking completely preoccupied. Yang Kai tried calling out several times but received no response.

Just then, the Sea of Consciousness below churned. An orange bubble suddenly surfaced from within, rising slowly until it hovered before Yang Yan. *Pop*, it burst. As the bubble shattered, a kind of energy, almost imperceptible to Yang Kai, surged into Yang Yan’s spiritual body.

The next moment, her expression twisted into one of immense pain, as if she were enduring some terrible ordeal. Her delicate brows furrowed deeply, her slender body trembled continuously, and she hugged herself even tighter.

Yang Kai’s heart clenched, his face shifting between light and shadow.

He didn’t understand what was happening to Yang Yan, but by now he could see that whatever was causing this was entirely related to those bubbles within her Sea of Consciousness.

Weren’t these bubbles supposed to encapsulate Yang Yan’s life experiences and memories? So why were they causing her such distress?

Suddenly, Yang Kai remembered something. Yang Yan had once told him that her knowledge of artifact refining and array formations hadn’t been taught to her; she had simply comprehended it inexplicably on her own. Moreover, the more she studied arrays and artifact refining, the more she knew, and the deeper her understanding became.

Could it be that what was sealed within these bubbles was precisely that knowledge Yang Yan hadn’t yet mastered? But where had this knowledge come from? Why was it stored within her Sea of Consciousness? And why was she being made to comprehend it at this particular juncture?

Yang Kai simply couldn’t figure it out.

Yang Yan’s current situation was comparable to someone who had received an overwhelming amount of unknown information all at once, unable to process it immediately, and was thus passively accepting it. Her spiritual body had retreated into her Sea of Consciousness, seeking self-protection.

Though this was only Yang Kai’s conjecture, it was likely not far from the truth.

If that was really the case, there was nothing Yang Kai could do to help, unless he forcibly extracted the knowledge sealed within those bubbles to shoulder some of the burden for her. But this was, after all, Yang Yan’s own fortune. Without her permission, Yang Kai couldn’t possibly do such a thing.

To do so would be nothing short of robbery.

Although Yang Yan was in pain now, as long as she endured this period, her gains would be unimaginable.

Having understood this, Yang Kai secretly relaxed a bit. Now that he had found the root of the problem, which wasn’t what he had previously imagined, he naturally stopped worrying.

However, he wasn’t in a hurry to leave just yet. Staying here would allow him to stand guard for Yang Yan, ensuring that if anything unexpected did happen, he could come to her aid in time.

Having made up his mind, Yang Kai softly spoke a few words to Yang Yan, informing her of his intentions. His figure immediately flickered as he moved to a distance, sitting cross-legged in mid-air, his gaze fixed on Yang Yan’s side.

Perhaps it was his imagination, but it seemed his presence had bolstered Yang Yan’s spirits. In the time that followed, bubble after bubble rose from the Sea of Consciousness, continuously floating up to Yang Yan and bursting one after another, flooding the sealed information within into her body.

Although Yang Yan’s expression remained pained, her reactions were much better than before.

As time passed and the bubbles dwindled, her expression gradually grew calmer.

In the blink of an eye, about half a month had passed. During this time, Yang Kai hadn’t moved an inch, hadn’t even closed his eyes, constantly focused on the activity on Yang Yan’s side.

Finally, the last bubble in the Sea of Consciousness rose and burst. The information sealed within was quickly absorbed by Yang Yan. And at that moment, the layer of energy membrane around Yang Yan’s body shattered with a boom. Yang Yan, eyes still closed, slowly stretched out her slender form. One arm encircled her chest, the other covered her legs, her body leaning slightly back. Her long hair stirred without wind, spreading out in a dramatic fashion.

The entire Sea of Consciousness fell silent at that instant.

Yang Kai stared, mesmerized. This beautiful scene made him feel as if Yang Yan were a celestial goddess, inviolable and holy.

All along, Yang Yan had been shrouded in a black robe that covered her head and face. Even for Yang Kai, seeing her true appearance hadn’t been easy. Yet he hadn’t expected this woman to be so captivating. If she dressed herself a bit better, her appearance would surely drive countless men mad.

While Yang Kai stared, entranced, a brilliant ring of light suddenly erupted from within Yang Yan’s spiritual body. The light was dazzling to the extreme. More than that, a presence emanated from it that made Yang Kai’s face change dramatically.

The aura washed over him, making him tremble despite himself.

Imperial Might! Yang Kai’s eyes widened instantly. He had felt this kind of aura at the Fallen Emperor Mountain; he could never mistake it.
