When Yang Kai actually refused him, the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist's expression turned cold and he began to mock them: "Fine, fine, fine — a mute and an ugly woman! You two really are a match made in heaven! Want me to play matchmaker and help you two get together?"
A faint blush flashed across the woman's sallow face. Her mood, which had calmed considerably, turned angry once again. It seemed she simply couldn't bear the words "ugly woman" — the moment she heard them, her temperament changed completely.
"No need for matchmaking. I already have a family, so I don't need friends meddling in my affairs," Yang Kai scoffed.
The Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist was momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing: "Oh, so you're not a mute after all? Then pretend I said nothing. Kid, scram off to the side — this is none of your business."
He could tell that Yang Kai seemed to harbor ill intentions. Though he wasn't afraid of the other party, he issued a quiet warning all the same.
But Yang Kai remained utterly unmoved. Waves of Saint Power surged forth, and a pitch-black longsword wreathed in demonic flames slowly coalesced in his hand. The Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist's expression darkened as he spoke in a sinister tone: "What? You want to attack me? You'd better think this through. If you dare make a move, you're dead!"
"Whether I live or die is none of your concern — but you're definitely finished. Your mouth stinks for ten miles in every direction, and I can't stand it any longer. So I'll just borrow your life for a bit!" As he spoke, Yang Kai casually swung the demonic-flame longsword forward.
Wave after wave of Profound Heaven Sword Light shot from the blade's tip. Within that pitch-black sword light lay earth-shattering power. In an instant, over a dozen strikes sealed off every escape route for the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist.
The moment Yang Kai attacked, the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist's expression changed drastically. How could he not feel the devastating power behind this strike from a Saint King First Level? He had no time to continue haranguing the woman — he hastily withdrew the Saint Power he had been channeling into his halberd artifact, while dense waves of power surged from his body, condensing into the shape of a shield before him.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sword light crashed into the shield. In just two strikes, it shattered into pieces. The remaining sword light continued onward with unabated force.
The Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist screamed in alarm. He tried to dodge, but the woman — now freed — flicked her white silk threads, binding him in place. Those threads seemed to be forged from some unknown material; their sharpness was beyond absurd. After wrapping around him several times, the woman channeled her Saint Power, and the threads suddenly constricted.
Light flickered across the martial artist's body as his protective treasure armor erupted with defensive power. Yet it still couldn't stop the threads from cutting through. With a series of ripping sounds, over a dozen bloody lines appeared across the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist's body.
"N—" The man barely managed a terrified scream before his body was sliced into more than a dozen pieces by the white threads.
Before his corpse could even fall, Yang Kai's pitch-black sword light swept past, incinerating his remains completely.
A Saint King Third Level elite disciple of the Battle Heaven Alliance — against the combined assault of Yang Kai and the woman, he hadn't survived even a single breath before his soul scattered. Yang Kai wasn't surprised by this outcome, because even fighting alone, he was confident he could kill the man. What he'd done here was merely create an opening for the woman.
However, the power of the woman's white threads had exceeded his expectations — otherwise, he wouldn't have unleashed so many waves of sword light.
The woman, for her part, seemed equally surprised by Yang Kai's abilities. After easily dispatching the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist, she couldn't help but glance at him, her eyes flowing with expression as if they could speak.
Only then did Yang Kai notice that this woman not only had an exceptional figure — her eyes were also extraordinarily vivid, containing an indescribable spirit. If she had covered her face and revealed only those eyes, they could have driven any man to madness.
But her appearance... what a pity, Yang Kai thought to himself, though his expression didn't change in the slightest.
"Thank you!" After killing her opponent, the woman let out a deep breath. Her full chest rose dramatically, then fell, tracing a breathtakingly beautiful curve. She then gave Yang Kai a slight nod, forced a small smile, and spoke her thanks. The smile was genuine, but paired with her appearance, it was hardly something one could compliment.
Yet her voice was extraordinarily pleasant — gentle and sweet, wonderfully comfortable to the ear.
"It was nothing. I just didn't like the look of him," Yang Kai replied flatly.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about what happened here. And I was the one who killed him — it has nothing to do with you. If the Battle Heaven Alliance really tries to investigate this matter, you won't be implicated." The woman took all the responsibility upon herself, which greatly improved Yang Kai's opinion of her. He felt that his intervention hadn't been in vain after all.
As they spoke, the woman retrieved a ring from the severed arm of the Battle Heaven Alliance martial artist that had fallen to the ground after his death. Without even glancing at its contents, she tossed it directly to Yang Kai: "Here, take this."
Yang Kai didn't stand on ceremony. He caught it casually and stuffed it into his robes.
The woman hesitated for a moment, then blushed slightly. She turned away, reached into her garments, and pulled out a bright red fruit, which she likewise tossed over: "You were probably chasing after this, weren't you?"
Yang Kai caught it and gave an awkward smile: "I didn't know you were raising it."
