Outside the warship, the radiance of artifacts and martial techniques dazzled the eyes as warriors unleashed various powers of different attributes, blasting them into the dense swarm of Black Rock Beasts.
Even with their incredibly hard skin, the Black Rock Beasts couldn't withstand such violent onslaughts. After just a single sweep, more than twenty fifth- and sixth-stage Black Rock Beasts had been shattered into pieces.
The warriors on the warship moved in a highly organized manner, operating as a tight unit. They wouldn't individually rush out of their formation to seek trouble with the Black Rock Beasts. Instead, under Wu Yi's command, they moved as one—wherever Wu Yi pointed, they struck.
Their numbers were small, only fifty or sixty, which seemed utterly insignificant compared to the massive swarm of Black Rock Beasts. They could only rely on this method to gain some advantage.
Prayers and cheers of encouragement echoed in Yang Kai's ears. Those who had remained on the warship were rallying for their companions. Their cultivation levels were the lowest among everyone present, so they had no right to participate in such battles and could only stay behind to keep the warship running.
A scream rang out. A warrior at the third stage of the Saint Entry Realm was the first to be torn apart by a charging Black Rock Beast, dying in an instant.
Someone immediately moved to fill his position and drove the Black Rock Beast back. The next moment, more than a dozen attacks struck, killing the beast on the spot.
Wu Yi's coordination was systematic and effective—it was clear they had been through such battles before. Everyone was experienced. If this situation continued, even with far fewer people, Wu Yi's side could still pull out a victory in the end.
But Yang Kai keenly sensed that everyone fighting outside was worried about something, as though they knew what the Black Rock Beasts would do next—and that it was something they couldn't withstand.
Another shrill scream pierced the air. A warrior at the outermost edge of the formation was overrun by several Black Rock Beasts. After a frenzy of biting, both his arm and leg bones were crushed, making him the second casualty.
After killing the warrior, those Black Rock Beasts didn't devour their flesh. Instead, they spat it out. Black Rock Beasts consumed only minerals—they had no interest in meat.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...
Streams of emerald-green liquid suddenly sprayed from the mouths of the Black Rock Beasts. In the blink of an eye, Wu Yi and the others were completely surrounded by the substance. Everyone's expressions grew grim as they quickly dodged under Wu Yi's command.
One warrior who carelessly got splashed by the green liquid screamed in agony. Smoke began rising from his body. The impressive treasure armor on his chest dissolved rapidly, and even his flesh corroded away, leaving nothing but bare white bones.
That emerald liquid was clearly extremely corrosive!
Yang Kai's expression darkened as he couldn't help but worry about Wu Yi and the others.
His strength hadn't fully recovered—he could at most perform at the level of a third-stage Saint Entry warrior. If Wu Yi's side was defeated and the warship destroyed, everyone on board would be doomed. In that vast sea of beasts, very few would survive.
Yang Kai suddenly felt he should do something.
Thud, thud, thud...
A series of muffled impacts came from the hull. Yang Kai saw that the Black Rock Beasts had bypassed Wu Yi's group entirely, jumping onto the warship and spraying their corrosive green liquid, beginning to eat away at the hull before gnawing at it directly.
The crunching sounds—like spring silkworms devouring mulberry leaves—came in rapid succession, dense and relentless, sending chills down the spine.
Wu Yi and the others abandoned their formation. Clustering in groups of three to five, they chased after the Black Rock Beasts, leaping onto the hull to fight valiantly and protect the warship.
People kept dying, with dozens of Black Rock Beasts swarming around each person.
Yu Feng, alongside three others, guarded Wu Yi's side, channeling their Sacred Yuan alongside her.
Wu Yi cultivated a fire-attribute technique. Wielding several rings in her hands, she moved with the grace of a water snake, her slender waist twisting as clusters of flame converged into dragon-like attacks. The Black Rock Beasts were hesitant to approach—the few that got close were all cut down by her.
They seemed to fear fire.
More Black Rock Beasts noticed their position and charged toward them.
Even with Yu Feng and the others giving everything they had, they couldn't hold back the tide—let alone the fact that several seventh-stage beasts lurked among the swarm.
A seventh-stage demon beast was equivalent to a warrior at the Saint King Realm. Two seventh-stage Black Rock Beasts pinned Yu Feng down while several others engaged the remaining warriors protecting Wu Yi, leaving them unable to help.
The rings in Wu Yi's hands erupted with even more intense fiery aura, slamming into a seventh-stage Black Rock Beast that charged at them. Flames scattered in all directions, and the beast retreated with a pained howl—but it wasn't killed.
Black Rock Beasts were tough and thick-skinned with formidable defenses. Wu Yi could kill fifth- and sixth-stage ones, but she couldn't bring a seventh-stage beast down in short order.
Enraged by the fire attack, the beast opened its massive maw full of irregular saw-like fangs. Faint traces of green corrosive acid could be seen gathering within its mouth.
Hiding behind several of its companions, it seized the moment when Wu Yi was overwhelmed and lunged to bite at her waist.
