The reduction in numbers and the enormous expenditure of energy seemed to gradually bring sanity back to both sides. They no longer fought as recklessly as before, completely disregarding their own safety at every turn — now they were cautious in everything.
Yang Kai waited for another half day and grew bored.
If nobody died, there was no way for him to profit. Staying here any longer would be nothing but a waste of time.
So he slipped away from behind the meteorite where he had been hiding and headed toward his destination, planning along the way to refine the divine souls of the several dozen Saint King Realm warriors he had devoured earlier.
Both sides of the great battle were busy dealing with their own opponents, and no one noticed his departure.
After a cup of tea's time, Yang Kai had traveled a hundred li from the battlefield. He was just about to summon his Star Shuttle when a strange and mysterious wave of energy suddenly came from behind him.
He whipped his head around and saw, amidst the countless meteorites, a brilliant light bloom — it flashed once and vanished without a trace.
Yang Kai froze, his expression startled. That wave of energy had felt remarkably familiar — it was unmistakably the fluctuation of space power. In other words, someone over there had very likely torn through space.
This discovery stirred him. Having spent several years navigating the Star Domain and gathering information from all sorts of sources, he knew full well that warriors who mastered the power of space were frighteningly rare. You would not find many across the entire Star Domain.
Space power was one of the most niche forces there was — hard to enter, hard to master, and infinitely harder to push to its limits.
To encounter something like this in a place like this, Yang Kai felt a strong urge to investigate. Who was that person? Could he learn from their methods or even exchange insights? That would be ideal.
He extended his divine sense toward the previous battlefield, and his expression grew even more confused. The area was completely empty — not a single person in sight. Only a faint trace of spatial power lingered, dissipating slowly.
What had happened?
Unable to contain his curiosity any longer, Yang Kai turned and rushed back.
In a short while, he arrived at the battlefield once more. Looking around, it was indeed deserted. The fighters who had been battling moments ago had completely vanished. Strangely, not a single corpse remained nearby either.
Following the faint spatial energy, Yang Kai stopped atop a massive meteorite the size of a small hill, standing before an ancient gate. The gate was extraordinarily old — clearly ancient work — and the doorframe was inlaid with a thick layer of Void Crystal.
At the base of the gate were two slots designed to hold Holy Crystals. Two high-grade Holy Crystals sat in the slots, their luster faded, their internal energy completely drained.
"A Space Formation?" Yang Kai's eyes went wide as he blurted out in shock.
He had not expected the truth to be so different from what he had imagined. The faint spatial energy radiating from here was not caused by someone tearing through space — it was because a Space Formation had been activated.
Those two depleted Holy Crystals must have been consumed in the process of opening it.
How could there be a Space Formation in a place like this? Did that mean the warrior who had not participated in the battle — the one who had been searching through the meteorites all along — had been looking for this very formation?
What lay on the other side of the Space Formation?
The two missing groups must have been transported through it. Yang Kai stood before the formation, his expression shifting as his mind raced.
After a moment, he reached out and removed the two depleted Holy Crystals from the slots at the base of the formation, replaced them with two intact high-grade Holy Crystals, poured Zhenyuan energy into the array, and activated the Space Formation.
A brilliant light erupted. Ripples spread across the center of the gate before him, growing increasingly unreal, increasingly illusory.
Yang Kai's strand of sense pierced through the gate, synchronizing with the formation's spatial fluctuation. With the array's power, it traversed tens of thousands of li in an instant.
He saw no one — only a fantastical landscape of lush greenery, bright sunlight, and a thriving land. At a glance, it was clearly a prosperous continent.
Yang Kai withdrew his strand of sense and, without hesitation, walked toward the gate.
The world before his eyes blurred, and in the next moment, he stood on the continent he had just glimpsed.
The spiritual energy was overwhelming, and Yang Kai was visibly moved. This continent's spiritual energy was even denser than that of Rainwater Star. While it could not compare to places like the Suspended Continent, it was far beyond what any ordinary cultivation star could offer.
The Heavenly Spirit Ghost Orchid pattern on his chest finally came into its own. The great mouth depicted in the design opened and closed, drawing waves of spiritual energy toward Yang Kai's body of its own accord.
A look of pure contentment crossed Yang Kai's face. He was even tempted to enter seclusion here and remain until the Heavenly Spirit Ghost Orchid's effects wore off.
The Heavenly Spirit Ghost Orchid was far too rare. If not for Xue Yue's sake, Harlika would never have gifted such a treasure to Yang Kai. Though the effects would gradually fade after two or three years, only half that time had passed so far.
Yang Kai simply could not bear to waste it.
