Chapter 1031: Star Emperor Token

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 886 words

The Star Emperor Token contained the sealed divine ability of the Star Domain Great Emperor. Once unleashed, it could annihilate even a Void King Realm powerhouse.

Yang Kai was stunned speechless.

"In my era, someone once used a Star Emperor Token to kill a Void King Realm powerhouse."

"It can really kill a Void King Realm powerhouse?"

"That's the rumor. I never witnessed it myself, so I can't speak to the exact power. Some of it may be exaggerated, but there's no doubt it's formidable. After all these years, of the ten Star Emperor Tokens that once existed, few are likely to remain. Guard it carefully. If you ever face a truly insurmountable tribulation, you may use it—but remember, it can only be used once!" the Ghost Ancestor cautioned.

Yang Kai suddenly felt like the token was scorching in his hand. He hesitated, looking at the Ghost Ancestor. "Senior, if this token is so precious, why give it to me?"

The Ghost Ancestor grinned. "I have no children, no attachments, and my strength has reached a level where no one can threaten me. What use do I have for it? If you don't want it, just toss it away. I'm sure those people over there would be more than happy to take it."

He gestured toward Shen Tu and the others, who were craning their necks from a hundred zhang away, peering in this direction.

Yang Kai promptly stowed the Star Emperor Token inside the Demon God's Canon, tucking it into the most hidden corner!

Seeing this, the Ghost Ancestor nodded with satisfaction. "Good. Now then, shall I escort you all out of here?"

"That won't be necessary. I can find the way out," Yang Kai declined politely.

The Ghost Ancestor said nothing more. He flashed a grin and said, "Then I'll be going. Live well."

With that, he lingered no longer. His figure dissolved into a wisp of black cloud and sped away into the distance.

Yang Kai stood in place, watching him leave with an odd expression. After a moment's thought, he shook his head, chuckled, and turned to walk toward Shen Tu and the others.

The group stood there in silence. Both Shen Tu and Yue Xi had been targeted by the Ghost Ancestor and were still shaken. Just thinking of his terrifying abilities sent a chill through both of them.

"Brother Yang… he's gone?" Shen Tu asked nervously.

"Mm, gone." Yang Kai nodded.

"He really just left?" Shen Tu was incredible. Just moments ago, when the Ghost Ancestor had suddenly approached Yang Kai, they had all been certain he was doomed. Yet after a brief exchange, the Ghost Ancestor had simply departed.

It was beyond anyone's expectation.

"He really left," Yang Kai repeated. "No need to be nervous. Actually, he's not a bad person—just a bit short-tempered."

Hearing this, everyone involuntarily let out deep, ragged breaths, their minds and bodies relaxing all at once.

"All the strong ones are like that…" Yue Xi said with a bitter smile. "They don't regard people like us at all."

"Brother Yang, what did he say to you just now? You two seemed to be getting along quite well," Shen Tu asked curiously.

"Not much. Just thanked me for something, gave me a scolding—that's all." Yang Kai shrugged casually, spinning a careless lie. He was certain that none of them had any idea what he and the Ghost Ancestor had actually discussed.

There was no way he would tell anyone about the Star Emperor Token falling into his hands. Its value was too great; if word leaked out, it would stir up a storm of unnecessary trouble.

Glancing around, Yang Kai said, "Let's go. We should leave too."

Everyone stared at him with bitter expressions. No one moved.

"Leave? This isn't just any place—this is the Chaotic Abyss… Our Sword Alliance's navigator and Purple Star's navigator aren't here," Yue Xi said with a wry smile.

Bi Ya checked the star shuttle beneath her feet and shook her head. "The chaotic domain field here has scrambled my star chart. Without a star map to guide us, there's no way to find the exit."

The brief joy of their freedom was instantly replaced by despair, and every face among them turned grimmer than the last.

"Oh. The Ghost Ancestor pointed me in the right direction. Just follow me," Yang Kai said calmly.

Beams of delighted gazes shot toward him at once.

Shen Tu exclaimed in disbelief, "Brother Yang, you mean the Ghost Ancestor not only didn't kill you and kept his earlier promise, but actually bothered to guide us out?"

"Mm." Yang Kai nodded.

"No way. How did he suddenly become so benevolent?" Shen Tu still couldn't quite believe it. "That doesn't make sense."

"Believe it or not. Let's move." Yang Kai summoned his star shuttle. Shen Tu climbed aboard without the slightest ceremony, grinning from ear to ear. "Brother Yang, I'm relying on you. I don't have a single artifact left on me."

"No problem."

Six people, four star shuttles. They raced through the Chaotic Abyss at breakneck speed, chasing one another through the void.

Yang Kai led the way at the front while simultaneously immersing his consciousness into his Sea of Consciousness, probing the vast star map that adorned his mental landscape to confirm their position.
