Chapter 1024: Stellar Origin

January 17, 2020 · 5 min read · 972 words

Yang Kai was perfectly aware of the Ghost Ancestor's petty schemes and had never called him out on them.

But within this spatial turbulence, everything had been severed from the outside world. The Ghost Ancestor couldn't even perceive where he was, let alone spy on anything, so Yang Kai felt no worry that the Ghost Ancestor might steal his techniques.

Though the Ghost Ancestor's words had opened his eyes and led to a tremendous boost in his strength—for which Yang Kai was grateful—it was still necessary to remain vigilant when vigilance was called for. Yang Kai had never once let his guard down around the Ghost Ancestor.

For a wretched old monster like the Ghost Ancestor, going back on one's word and breaking promises was the norm. Yang Kai now not only had to find a way out of here, but also ensure that the Ghost Ancestor wouldn't strike him down once they were free!

This was going to be difficult! Yang Kai's thoughts were tangled in knots, and he couldn't come up with any good solution for the time being. He could only take it one step at a time.

After lingering in the spatial turbulence for a while, Yang Kai departed.

As soon as his figure materialized, the Ghost Ancestor's voice rang in his ear: "Boy, did you find anything?"

He looked as if he could barely contain himself, apparently quite anxious.

Yang Kai smiled bitterly. "It's not that simple, Senior. Please be patient—I was merely checking whether the spatial domain field here had stabilized."

"And the result?" the Ghost Ancestor pressed.

"It has stabilized. It won't interfere with my judgment."

"Good!"

"Senior, how far did I just travel?"

"About a thousand li." The Ghost Ancestor snorted coldly. "Your methods have improved considerably since last time. It seems your strength has truly increased a great deal."

Yang Kai's eyes lit up, his spirits soaring. In the past, tearing through space had only allowed him to move a few hundred li at a time, but now he could cover a thousand li in an instant! It had to be called tremendous progress!

"Don't even think about playing any tricks on me. We both know you can't escape my grasp. Serve me faithfully, and as long as we can leave this place, I swear I won't harm you!"

"This Junior understands." Yang Kai nodded lightly. "If the Senior has nothing else, this Junior will continue."

"Go ahead!"

Yang Kai tore through space once more, placing himself within the spatial turbulence. He searched within for clues and direction.

After his strength and insight had improved, he suddenly realized that his understanding of the mysteries of space was still rather shallow—though deeper than the Ghost Ancestor's. But such understanding alone was clearly not enough to allow him to escape this bizarre continent.

And so, just as he had done many years ago, he came to this spatial turbulence to comprehend the mysteries of space, seeking to glimpse the secrets hidden within the surging and erupting currents.

He hadn't mentioned any of this to the Ghost Ancestor, because the Ghost Ancestor was very impatient and wished nothing more than for Yang Kai to spirit him away immediately.

Day after day slipped by, with Yang Kai remaining in the spatial turbulence, fully immersing himself in its profundities.

Each day, he had to return to the continent to report his progress to the Ghost Ancestor and soothe his restless mood.

Yang Kai made significant progress and reaped great rewards. His understanding of space grew ever more effortless.

One day, a peculiar idea suddenly struck him, and he emerged from the spatial turbulence.

He released his Divine Sense, using it in place of his physical body to shatter the spatial barrier and achieve instantaneous movement.

Because if he wanted to leave, he had to break through the constraints of that seven-colored sky. And as the Ghost Ancestor had said, that seven-colored sky was formed by the convergence of various domain fields within the Chaos Abyss, covering an area of at least several thousand to tens of thousands of li.

Even with Yang Kai's current abilities, he would need to execute several to over a dozen perfectly accurate spatial tears in succession to break through the encirclement of that chaotic domain field.

He didn't dare test it with his physical body, because a single mistake could send him lost within that domain field.

But he could use his Divine Sense—even if it got lost, there would be little consequence.

At worst, his Divine Sense would be damaged, and the Six-Colored Warm Spirit Lotus would let him recover quickly.

Tidal waves of Divine Sense spread in all directions as Yang Kai condensed his Divine Sense into individual strands, like invisible threads.

Within each strand, he embedded his comprehension of the mysteries of space, thrusting the threads of thought into the void.

These threads, as they shot forward, concealed the intricacies of space within them. Strand by strand, thread by thread, they left no trace to follow, darting and leaping across the entire continent—vanishing from one point only to suddenly appear at another. They transcended the constraints of space, manifesting an eerie form of instantaneous travel.

Yang Kai's Divine Sense expanded its coverage wider and farther!

Within the mountain, the Ghost Ancestor—who had been monitoring Yang Kai's movements all along—suddenly gleamed with surprise in his eyes, nodding to himself and muttering, "Good, good. Looks like there's some progress."

He couldn't help but grin. Yang Kai's progress meant there was a greater hope of escaping this cage, so for once he refrained from disturbing Yang Kai, allowing him to continue his experiments undisturbed.

Two hours later, a hint of fatigue appeared on Yang Kai's face—a sign that the expanse his Divine Sense had probed had exceeded the limits of his current realm.
