Chapter 993: Not a Trial

January 17, 2020 · 3 min read · 694 words

Chu Feng couldn't open this great gate, nor did he dare to. He could sense the magnitude of danger that lay on the other side — a danger he was simply powerless to face.

In fact, Chu Feng believed that if those gates were to open right now, the danger within would spell his utter destruction.

Left with no other option, Chu Feng activated his Heavenly Eye to investigate, but unfortunately, it proved futile — even his Heavenly Eye could not see through this gate.

"Chu Feng, what about you? Do you feel any sense of familiarity with this place?" Seeing that the Heavenly Eye was of no use, Eggy asked Chu Feng about his impressions.

"No. It does resemble a territory of some kind, but it feels completely foreign. I've never been here before, I'm sure."

"Besides, according to what Senior Huangfu told us, this location couldn't possibly be where he encountered me." Chu Feng shook his head.

Although this place was shrouded in mystery and harbored dangers beyond estimation — proof that its creator was no ordinary being — it still differed from what Huangfu Haoyue had described.

At the very least, Chu Feng felt no sacredness here. And although the place was certainly no simple matter, he felt no particular fear either — he knew that as long as he didn't recklessly barge through the gate, he would remain safe.

This experience stood in complete contrast to what Huangfu Haoyue had described. Even allowing for differences in individual perception, the gap should not be this extreme.

And so Chu Feng was certain — this was not where Huangfu Haoyue had found him.

"Then it's a mystery — who would build a territory here?" Eggy was puzzled, for she knew that while no one necessarily lived behind the gate, there was certainly something there. This was a place that had been claimed.

"Who knows? The Heavenly Path has always been unfathomable." Chu Feng smiled faintly, turned around, and headed back the way he had come — for he knew that lingering here would bring no results.

After leaving the area, Chu Feng continued his exploration.

To his surprise, territories like the first one were not the only kind — Chu Feng soon stumbled upon yet another.

The architectural style of this second territory was entirely different from the first. Even the era of its construction and the impression it gave Chu Feng were wholly distinct — these two territories had definitely not been built by the same people.

Most importantly, Chu Feng felt that given the immense scale of the Heavenly Path, discovering two different territories in such close proximity could not be a coincidence.

Most likely, there were other territories within the Heavenly Path, and the place where Huangfu Haoyue had found him was probably just one among many.

"Strange — why are there so many territories within the Heavenly Path? Could there be some hidden secret here?"

A cascade of questions surged through Chu Feng's mind. He was increasingly convinced that the Heavenly Path was far more than it appeared — it was no mere passage from the Eastern Ocean Region to the Martial Sacred Land.

But whatever secrets lay hidden here, they were beyond Chu Feng's current ability to unravel. His most important task right now was still to find where Huangfu Haoyue had encountered him — or, more precisely, where his father awaited.

After all these days of wandering, Chu Feng had not been attacked by any creature, nor had he even seen another living thing. From this, he drew a conclusion.

The trials of the Heavenly Path were clearly related to one's progress. Although his aimless wandering counted as forward movement, it was far too slow — in the short term, he would not encounter the second wave of unidentified creatures that Huangfu Haoyue had mentioned.

If he wanted to find his birthplace sooner, Chu Feng needed to press forward as quickly as possible. Once he passed the second trial, he should be able to find the place of his birth.

With that decided, Chu Feng abandoned his aimless wandering and pushed forward with all his might.
