"This Chu Feng's talent is truly terrifying."
"But you can't just curse him and call him worthless just because he's talented, can you?" the massive creature said.
"According to the rumors, this young fellow values bonds and loyalty — his character isn't bad at all."
The middle-aged man scoffed at the massive creature's evaluation. "Sage Elder, have you not heard the saying — dragons beget dragons, phoenixes beget phoenixes, and the children of rats know how to dig holes?"
"Talent? If Chu Xuanyuan could reach that level of cultivation, his son's talent naturally wouldn't be lacking."
"But that Chu Xuanyuan is despicable and shameless. His son certainly isn't any good either."
"When I say he's no good, then he's no good." The middle-aged man declared.
The massive creature sighed and shook its head helplessly, clearly not wanting to get tangled up with the middle-aged man on this topic. So instead it asked, "Who are you planning to send in first?"
"Does the Sage Elder have any suggestions?" the middle-aged man asked.
"My suggestion is to send both of them," the Sage Elder replied.
"Aren't you overestimating Chu Xuanyuan's son?"
"The current new generation of our Three Saints Monster Clan is hailed as the strongest in our entire history." The middle-aged man said.
"The younger generation of our Three Saints Monster Clan is indeed brimming with geniuses, but the title of number one at the pinnacle of the Nine Heavens isn't without merit."
"Setting aside the young ones of the vast cultivation world today, even the younger generation of the Huangfu Heavenly Clan has gone there," the massive creature said.
"The Huangfu Heavenly Clan was nothing even at their peak. How could they compare to our Three Saints Monster Clan now?" The middle-aged man's face was full of disdain.
"So who are you deciding to send first?" the massive creature asked.
"Is this kid skilled in the art of formations?" the middle-aged man asked.
"His attainment in the art of formations is unfathomably deep. He possesses the legendary Bloodline of the King."
The massive creature's tone was filled with admiration and regard for Chu Feng.
But the middle-aged man clearly didn't take that in, and instead said: "Then send Feng Liu first. Use what he's best at to defeat him — shatter his heart directly."
"Let him experience what it means that there is always a sky beyond the sky, and a person beyond a person."
As the middle-aged man spoke, he waved his great sleeve, and a small bird of light flew off into the depths of the mist.
Deep within the mist stood a city.
Outside the city stood two young men.
Both men were three meters tall, lean and long in build, yet their bodies were covered in muscles, looking incredibly powerful.
But on their chests, shoulders, arms, and thighs, they each had a number of scales.
Though the scales were embedded in their flesh, from a distance they looked like armor — both imposing and beautiful.
Perhaps because the scales on their bodies were decoration enough, apart from a length of cloth tied around their waists to cover their private areas, they had nothing else on their bodies.
However, these two had a clear distinction between them. Putting aside their different facial features, the color of their body hair was also different.
One was white. One was black.
Not just their hair and eyebrows — even their body hair and all other hair was uniformly colored.
The white one was entirely white from head to toe.
The black one was entirely black from head to toe.
"Feng Liu, did the Clan Chief arrange for us to come here so we could spar against each other?"
"Is the Clan Chief finally willing to let us compete for real?" The black-haired young man rubbed his hands together excitedly.
"Of course not. How could the Clan Chief possibly break clan rules? Can't you see this gate?" the white-haired young man said.
As he spoke, he lifted his head and glanced at something not far from them.
There stood an oval-shaped bronze ring.
Because the center was empty, in terms of shape it bore no resemblance to a gate at all.
"Why are they suddenly sending us on a trial? There was no notice beforehand — this is way too sudden," the black-haired young man said.
"Who cares? As long as it's a trial, it's a good thing," the white-haired young man replied.
"I'm hoping this time it'll be a more difficult trial. Otherwise it won't be any fun at all," the black-haired young man said.
"The more complex the trial, the more it tests observation skills — and that's where you'll lose to me," the white-haired young man said.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to lose to you. Don't forget, our Three Saints Monster Clan conquered the world through martial cultivation," the black-haired young man said confidently.
"You really don't understand how powerful the art of formations is."
"It's only because we're close and I don't want to hurt your feelings that I haven't already shown you the true power of the art of formations," the white-haired young man said.
