With a cold shout, Linghu Lun flipped his palm, and a silver spear materialized in his grip.
The silver spear was long, its shaft covered entirely in flowing runes. As those runes circulated, even the surrounding space trembled. The immortal-grade martial force hidden between heaven and earth was being drawn to its command.
This was an immortal weapon — a true immortal weapon.
With the immortal weapon in hand, Linghu Lun's aura surged dramatically. His combat power was now far beyond that of a mere first-level Martial Immortal.
But he was not finished. Lightning churned across his forehead, and a character formed entirely of thunder — the character for "Heaven" — branded itself upon his brow.
Once that character appeared, Linghu Lun's cultivation soared from first-level Martial Immortal all the way to second-level Martial Immortal.
"Chu Feng, die!"
Swish, swish, swish— With that furious roar, Linghu Lun began to swing the silver spear in his hands. Silver light flickered ceaselessly, transforming into arc after arc of crescent-shaped silver blades that shot toward the flames.
Yet when those blades struck the fire, they vanished like rivers pouring into the sea — not the slightest ripple disturbed the inferno. Every last attack had been swallowed by the flames.
"Impossible?"
Seeing this, Linghu Lun was once again struck with disbelief.
If his earlier inability to break through Chu Feng's Fire Qilin Armor had been somewhat understandable, his continued failure now was utterly inexcusable. After all, he had already revealed his Heaven-level bloodline and wielded an immortal weapon. The offensive technique he had used just now was a powerful immortal art in its own right.
"It seems I'll have to endure it."
Suddenly, Linghu Lun gritted his teeth, a flash of resolve crossing his eyes. He made his decision.
He would enter those flames once more. While being inside them, the crushing pressure had caused him tremendous agony. But now, it seemed the only way to get through was to bear that pressure.
Having made his choice, Linghu Lun immediately set off. He transformed into a streak of light — like a blazing meteor descending from the sky — and shot down into the flames below.
Rumble— Yet the moment Linghu Lun drew close to the fire, it was as if he had plunged into a raging tide. All he could do was be swept along, tumbling helplessly within the waves of flame.
Before long, the tide of fire spat him back out.
"I… can't get in anymore?"
Linghu Lun stood there, dumbfounded, his jaw hanging open. He simply could not believe what was happening. Moments ago he had been inside, and now he couldn't even breach the barrier.
"Linghu Lun, don't waste your energy. I, Chu Feng, came here precisely because I am absolutely certain I can handle you."
"Although with the power of this Fire Qilin Armor alone, I cannot hurt you — let alone kill you."
"You, on the other hand, are equally powerless against me."
"All you can do now is stand there and watch as I, Chu Feng, strip away the Light Runes of your Linghu Heavenly Clan's kin." Chu Feng said.
"Chu Feng, you wouldn't dare!!" Linghu Lun roared with fury.
"Whether I dare or not — see for yourself."
Chu Feng smiled faintly, then moved in a flash to the side of a Linghu Heavenly Clan member. He extended a finger and pressed it against the Light Rune on the person's body.
"Uagh—"
The next instant, that clansman let out a scream of unbearable agony. At the same time, the Light Rune was ripped free from his body and merged into Chu Feng's own.
Though Chu Feng's Light Rune did not appear to have changed significantly, everyone could tell — he had truly plundered that man's Light Rune.
