"Hee hee hee…"
Its laughter was bizarre, sending chills down Chu Feng's spine and making every hair on his body stand on end.
Moreover, when it smiled at Chu Feng, he could clearly see that its mouth was nothing like an ordinary person's — it was enormous, taking up nearly half its face.
And inside that gaping mouth were rows upon rows of sharp teeth, densely packed in upper and lower rows, numbering several dozen. Those were not human teeth either; they looked more like the fangs of a savage beast.
*Snap—* Just then, Chu Feng suddenly felt an icy coldness at the wrist of the hand gripping the talisman, as though something had grabbed hold of him.
The chill was terrifying. From his wrist, it spread through his entire body in an instant.
When he looked down, there was another pale, withered little hand clutching his wrist.
*Whoosh—* The next moment, Chu Feng felt his body plunge uncontrollably toward the depths of the Burial Spirit Pool.
It was a child — one that stood barely a meter tall, with a small body but a disproportionately large head.
Its entire figure was deathly pale. With one hand gripping Chu Feng's wrist and that eerie laughter still spilling from its mouth, it was dragging him down, pulling Chu Feng deeper into the Burial Spirit Pool.
This ghostly child was the very same one that had grabbed the talisman earlier, peeked half its face through the wall, and grinned at Chu Feng.
"Damn it."
Sensing the danger, Chu Feng frantically swung his arm, trying to shake off that ghastly little hand.
But no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break free. And the strength of that eerie child was immense — Chu Feng had no way to shake it off whatsoever. All he could do was let it drag him deeper and deeper into the Burial Spirit Pool.
With no other option, Chu Feng drew the Dragon Blood Ruler and slashed at the ghostly child.
However, every time the Dragon Blood Ruler struck the child, it passed straight through its body.
It was as though the child had no physical form at all — he couldn't land a single hit on it. And yet it was clearly gripping Chu Feng's wrist and dragging him toward the depths of the pool.
"Despicable."
At this moment, Chu Feng truly felt the danger, and fully grasped just how eerie the Burial Spirit Pool really was.
How had a ghostly child suddenly appeared? This was something Chu Feng had never encountered before.
But by the time he realized how dire the situation was, it seemed it was already too late.
As the child's hand gripped his wrist, wave after wave of bone-chilling cold surged through Chu Feng's body. Under its effect, his flesh was growing increasingly numb, as though he were being frozen solid.
And even his mind was beginning to blur.
Yet as his mind clouded over, his hearing grew sharper and sharper.
Chu Feng could hear, with crystalline clarity, countless wails and roars echoing all around him — as if the shrieking spirits were closing in on all sides, gazing at him the way a predator eyes its prey.
"I suppose I really have entered hell?"
"Dragged into hell by a little ghost, of all things?"
Chu Feng couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh. He cursed his own greed for falling into the little ghost's trap.
A trap — it had been a trap from the start.
Those three talismans were genuine treasures, but they had been bait used by the little ghost to lure Chu Feng in. The talismans had never been stuck in the wall at all; they had been held in the little ghost's grip the entire time. That was why no matter what methods Chu Feng tried, he couldn't retrieve them from a distance.
But now, even though he understood the truth, it was already too late.
This little ghost was no ordinary evil spirit. Chu Feng had no idea what kind of existence it was, but standing before it, he was completely powerless to fight back.
*Hummm—* Yet just as Chu Feng had lost all ability to resist, lines of runes began to surface across his skin.
Those runes seemed to have been hidden deep within his body, and they were now emerging from within him. Shaped like bolts of lightning, they flickered and coursed across the surface of his body.
