"Our Holy Maiden sees that you are fated to meet, so she wishes to see you," the elder said with a smile.
BOOM— The moment those words left the elder's mouth, they landed like a thunderclap on clear ground, detonating in the hearts of everyone present.
"Fated?"
"The Holy Maiden actually sees him as someone she's fated to meet?"
In that instant, countless jealous gazes swept across Chu Feng, one after another.
Chu Feng even received numerous secret voice transmissions.
Those transmissions all came from the people present — they were asking how Chu Feng had come to know the Holy Maiden, asking for his name, and some were even flattering him outright.
Of course, there were also the fools who couldn't tell danger from safety. Some actually threatened Chu Feng, warning him not to be presumptuous with the Holy Maiden, or else he would be sorry.
As though the Holy Maiden belonged to their family. It truly left Chu Feng speechless.
Hum— Just then, Chu Feng suddenly felt his body lift into the air on its own. His body drifted uncontrollably upward toward the mountain peak, and in no time he arrived at its summit.
Upon landing at the summit, Chu Feng got his first close look at the younger generation of the Chu Heavenly Clan. Their gazes were full of displeasure — Chu Feng could even see deep disgust and fury in their eyes.
Clearly, these people who considered themselves extraordinary had already been in a foul mood after being turned away by the Holy Maiden. And now, someone had actually received her invitation. That only made them feel worse.
"Young master, please."
One of the Eight Immortals of Starfall opened the doors to the grand hall.
"I appreciate it."
Chu Feng clasped his fists politely, then walked into the hall under the jealous and hateful stares of the crowd.
The moment Chu Feng entered, the doors shut behind him automatically.
Once inside, Chu Feng could see clearly that this hall was far larger than he had imagined. It had multiple floors. He was currently on the first level — a spacious grand hall. Thirteen doors lined the hall's walls, though every single one of them was closed.
The furnishings and decorations within were grand and dignified, exuding an air of solemnity from every corner. Yet from somewhere unseen, a faint fragrance drifted through the air. It was a pleasant scent — clearly not the natural fragrance of the Holy Maiden, but some kind of incense. All in all, the environment was quite comfortable.
"I am Chu Feng. I was invited here by the Holy Maiden of Starfall Sanctuary."
Chu Feng stood at the center of the hall, refraining from wandering, and clasped his fists politely once more.
However, after his words fell, there was no response whatsoever — as though the hall were completely empty.
Left with no choice, Chu Feng spoke again, but once more, there was no reply.
"What is she playing at? She invites you in but won't show herself?"
"She's either deliberately toying with you or putting on airs. Chu Feng, go find her yourself," the Queen said, growing impatient. She was certain Chu Feng was being messed with — after all, those Chu Heavenly Clan members had been conversing with the Holy Maiden through the hall's doors just moments ago. That proved she was definitely here. The only reason she wasn't appearing was because she didn't want to see Chu Feng.
"Forget it. I never really wanted to meet her in the first place. If she won't see me, so be it." Unlike the Queen, Chu Feng was completely unfazed. He clasped his fists again and said, "It seems the Holy Maiden does not wish to see me. In that case, I shall take my leave."
With that, he turned and walked toward the hall's doors — only to discover that he couldn't open them. No matter how hard he knocked or how loudly he called out, no one outside reacted.
He could see the people outside clearly, and he could hear their conversations without issue. Yet the people beyond the hall seemed completely unable to see Chu Feng or hear a single word he said.
