Chapter 2677: A Frightening Creature

January 17, 2020 · 4 min read · 759 words

Chu Feng cursed inwardly, thinking he was about to meet his end here.

ROAR— But suddenly, the colossal entity lurking beneath the dark clouds and within the mist let out another low growl.

Then, it actually stopped advancing toward Chu Feng and began retreating.

It withdrew at tremendous speed, and the dark clouds and mist that blanketed the sky followed right along with it.

Before long, this stretch of heaven and earth had returned to its original calm.

A glance revealed nothing but a barren wasteland, without anything out of the ordinary.

But Chu Feng knew full well just how extraordinary this place truly was.

Still shaken, Chu Feng hurriedly rose to his feet. He found himself at something of a loss, unsure where to go.

After encountering the terrifying situation just moments ago, Chu Feng had temporarily abandoned any thoughts of continuing to explore this place.

When he turned to look back, he noticed that the vortex of light had undergone a slight change.

A suction force — it was a suction force.

Although the vortex of light appeared no different on the outside, it was now emanating a pull.

This most likely meant that the vortex of light could now be entered.

Whoosh— With that thought, Chu Feng soared into the air and shot toward the vortex of light once more.

But upon getting close, he stopped again. Having learned his lesson from before, Chu Feng didn't charge straight in.

Instead, he cautiously probed it with the Divine Dragon Blood Scale.

Hummm— This time, the Divine Dragon Blood Scale slid effortlessly into the vortex of light.

Just as Chu Feng had suspected, the vortex of light could now be entered.

Yet, now that entry was possible, Chu Feng hesitated. He turned around and once again gazed upon this mysterious and terrifying wasteland.

This was no ordinary place. It was a true treasure vault. If Chu Feng remained here, he could very well obtain even greater opportunities.

But alas, opportunities were almost always accompanied by danger.

This place was simply far too dangerous.

Though Chu Feng didn't know why that colossal creature had spared him, he couldn't be certain that he would survive the next encounter of that magnitude.

Even knowing all of this, Chu Feng still found himself wavering. He didn't want to let this chance slip away so easily.

"Chu Feng, leave. This place is too dangerous. Your cultivation is not suited for training here."

Just as Chu Feng stood torn, the Queen's voice suddenly rang out.

"Egg, you think I should leave too?" Chu Feng asked.

"Of course. Any random little lion here could see right through your barrier formations."

"Your other hiding tricks are probably useless as well."

"And that terrifying creature from before, in my estimation, was far stronger than that evil Ginseng King."

"I doubt you could defeat it even with the Evil God Sword."

"Besides, none of us can be sure whether there aren't creatures here even stronger than that one."

"This place truly isn't somewhere you should be right now," the Queen urged.

"Hehe, as expected — the one who cares about me most is still my Queen," Chu Feng said with a grin.

He knew perfectly well that Egg was urging him to leave because she was worried he'd run into danger and meet an untimely end.

"Nonsense. Some risks are worth taking, but others simply aren't."

"If an ant wants to carry a leaf across a small stream, it can give it a try."

"But if it tries to carry a leaf across a vast ocean, that's nothing but a daydream — it's suicide. There's not a snowball's chance in hell of success."

The Queen actually sounded somewhat agitated. She was truly afraid that Chu Feng would ignore her advice and insist on staying to risk his life here.

After all, Chu Feng had always marched to the beat of his own drum. Once he made up his mind, no one could talk him out of it — not even Egg.

"Alright, alright, alright, my Queen, please don't be angry. I never said I wouldn't leave. I'm going right now."

Chu Feng gave an awkward laugh, and fearful of upsetting the Queen, he took a massive stride forward and entered the vortex of light directly.

After Chu Feng passed through, the vortex of light did not vanish. It still stood upon this stretch of plain.

In a place like this, it looked thoroughly out of place — as if to tell everyone that it did not belong here.
