"You?" Chu Feng's gaze shifted the moment he laid eyes on this person.
Chu Feng recognized him — it was the Prophecy Master.
"So it's this old wretch. Chu Feng, kill him! If not for his reckless prophecies, why would the Kong Heavenly Clan have wanted to eliminate you out of nowhere?"
"None of this would have happened either!" the Queen lashed out angrily.
"What are you doing here?" Chu Feng said coldly, his sword-like brows knitting together.
"Young friend Chu Feng, I know you bear resentment toward me, but I was forced into this. I was controlled by the Kong Heavenly Clan's Clan Master long ago — he had leverage over me. If I didn't make prophecies on his behalf, I would have been ruined completely." The Prophecy Master's face was etched with regret.
"What leverage?" Chu Feng asked.
"This…" The Prophecy Master hesitated, finding it difficult to speak.
"So it seems you've done something shameful in the past," Chu Feng said with a cold laugh.
He could see at a glance that the so-called leverage the Prophecy Master spoke of was some unsavory affair that the Kong Heavenly Clan's Clan Master had gotten hold of.
"Ah, mistakes made in my youth… I've regretted them ever since," the Prophecy Master said.
"Did you come here specifically to apologize to me?"
"No need. Just leave — I won't kill you," Chu Feng said.
"I did come here to apologize, but there is also an important matter I wish to tell you," the Prophecy Master said.
"What important matter?" Chu Feng asked.
"Young friend Chu Feng, look." The Prophecy Master cradled the Prophecy Orb and stepped forward to Chu Feng.
"This is…" Upon seeing the Prophecy Orb in the Prophecy Master's hands, Chu Feng's expression changed. He saw that a world was contained within it.
Parts of that world were all too familiar to him.
The Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm — the world within the Prophecy Orb was the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm.
But inside the orb, the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm was a wasteland of corpses, its earth parched, all life turned to ash. Even through the Prophecy Crystal Ball, Chu Feng could feel an oppressive heaviness pressing toward him.
"What is this?" Chu Feng asked.
"This is a prophecy I just made. In the near future, the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm will suffer a great catastrophe."
"This catastrophe will bring devastation to all living beings there — not only will everyone perish, but the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm itself will be rendered utterly barren."
"And the one who can stop this catastrophe is right here," the Prophecy Master said.
"Who?" Chu Feng asked.
"There are only three of us alive here. Someone of my level naturally can't be the one."
"So if it isn't you, then it must be Lord Ying Chao Ming."
"One of you two can stop this catastrophe," the Prophecy Master said.
"Cut the mystical act. I don't believe a word of your so-called prophecy," Chu Feng said.
"Young friend Chu Feng, I'm truly not deceiving you. Even if you won't believe me, believe in this Prophecy Orb. It was given to me by a divine being, and in all these years, its prophecies have never once been wrong."
"Young friend Chu Feng, you must believe me. You need to prepare yourselves with Ying Chao Ming. Whether the Hundred Refinements Ordinary Realm can survive depends on you," the Prophecy Master said.
"If you're so afraid of dying, then go hide in the Upper Realm," Chu Feng said sarcastically.
At this, a bitter smile tugged at the corner of the Prophecy Master's lips. "I wish I could go to the Great Thousand Upper Realm, but with my level of cultivation, even if I wanted to, I couldn't get there."
"As expected — nothing but a coward who clings to life. Now get lost."
Chu Feng glanced at the Prophecy Master and saw that the man had none of the bearing of a true master.
He was nothing more than a selfish person. Even coming here to tell Chu Feng all this was motivated purely by self-preservation — he simply didn't want to suffer alongside everyone else.
This kind of person was the real hypocrite.
"Young friend Chu Feng, I know you hold a grudge against me, but I truly mean well in warning you. You must prepare yourself."
As he finished speaking, the Prophecy Master glanced once more at the drunken Ying Chao Ming and added, "Make sure to tell Lord Ying Chao Ming as well."
With those words, the Prophecy Master rose into the air, Prophecy Crystal Ball in hand, and departed.
After the Prophecy Master left, Chu Feng sank into deep thought. He suddenly felt that the Prophecy Master's words didn't sound like a lie.
A great catastrophe — what kind of catastrophe would it be?
