Seeing how panicked the young man was, Chu Feng couldn't help but activate his Heavenly Eye to survey the surroundings.
Only then did he discover that within the dark clouds on all sides, there was actually an entire army of thousands.
But Chu Feng could tell at a glance that they were demon beasts — their eyes were green, their hair was green, their ears were not human ears, and their fangs were sharp and pointed.
Though most of their features resembled those of humans, they were undoubtedly demon beasts.
"What kind of people are these?" Chu Feng asked the young man.
"They're from the Ancient Demon Clan — they're enemies of our Ancient War Clan. We're done for, they've already discovered us this quickly!"
As the young man spoke, he reached down and grabbed the token hanging at his waist, then squeezed with all his might, actually shattering the token right in his hand.
Chu Feng knew what the young man was trying to do. He didn't want the Ancient Demon Clan to know that he was a member of the Ancient War Clan, so he destroyed the token.
It seemed that the Ancient War Clan and the Ancient Demon Clan were hostile factions.
"You don't actually need to be afraid of them," Chu Feng said.
"Whoa, hold on, big brother — you can't seriously be that ignorant, right? You don't know how vicious the Ancient Demon Clan is?"
Seeing how fearless Chu Feng was, the young man's eyes were filled with shock. He looked at Chu Feng the way one would look at a fool.
"They're nothing but a bunch of Half Ancestors. The strongest among them is only a Half Ancestor — with that level of power, they can't hurt you today." Chu Feng patted the young man on the shoulder.
The young man was only a first rank Martial Emperor, so naturally he was terrified facing these Half Ancestor-level powerhouses.
However, Chu Feng was a ninth rank Half Ancestor, so no matter how many of them there were, he didn't take them the slightest bit seriously.
"Big brother, you..." Seeing how calm Chu Feng remained, the young man's gaze toward him shifted again. He suddenly realized that Chu Feng didn't seem ignorant at all — rather, he seemed to have everything under control.
In that moment, the young man felt that perhaps this person before him really could deal with this entire demon army.
"How dare you, humans, trespass into the territory of our Ancient Demon Clan! Are you tired of living?!"
Before long, the so-called Ancient Demon Clan members had completely surrounded Chu Feng and the young man.
However, although there were several thousand demon clan members in the dark clouds above, only four of them descended — and those four were merely first rank Half Ancestors.
Clearly, they didn't take Chu Feng or the young man the slightest bit seriously.
"My lords, we were just lost — we didn't mean to intrude into your territory! Please, show mercy and let us go!"
At that moment, the young man actually dropped to his knees with a thud, begging desperately in the most humble manner imaginable, completely devoid of any dignity befitting a young master of the Ancient War Clan.
He had, for a brief moment, believed that Chu Feng might be able to handle these demon clan members.
But that thought had lasted only an instant. Once these demon clan members approached him and he felt the overwhelming aura of a Half Ancestor, he immediately felt that they were doomed beyond hope.
Begging for mercy was their only chance at survival.
"Get up. Why would you kneel to them? A man should have dignity." Chu Feng grabbed the young man and hauled him to his feet.
"Oh ho, so you've got dignity, huh? Let me ask you then — which is more important, dignity or your life?" one of the Ancient Demon Clan members asked, eyeing Chu Feng with an odd look.
"Both dignity and life are important," Chu Feng replied.
"What if you had to choose one?" the demon clan member asked in a taunting tone.
"That's a hard choice. It's just that... you lot aren't qualified to make me choose." Chu Feng smiled faintly, but it was a smile laden with meaning.
"We're not qualified?!" Hearing this, the Ancient Demon Clan members' faces twisted with rage.
"Forget about you lot — even the Half Ancestor hiding up there in the clouds isn't qualified to say things like that to me." Chu Feng pointed at the dark clouds where the Half Ancestor was concealed.
"You—" In that instant, the Ancient Demon Clan members actually felt fear.
Not only them — even the Half Ancestor hidden within the clouds wore a look of shock on his face.
He had concealed his cultivation. In theory, unless someone was stronger than him, it should have been absolutely impossible to see through his power.
But now, Chu Feng had seen through him with a single glance. There was only one possible explanation — Chu Feng's strength surpassed his own.
"Who exactly are you?!" At that moment, a solemn voice echoed from within the clouds. It was, naturally, the Half Ancestor who spoke.
"If you insist on an answer, then all I can say is this: I am someone your kind cannot afford to provoke." Having said this, Chu Feng waved his hand dismissively at the sky. "Now leave. While I haven't yet lost my temper, disappear from my sight immediately. Otherwise... you'll have reason to regret it."
