Everything around him was changing, yet he himself could not move a muscle — as if his arms and legs were bound, stranded in a raging torrent with no choice but to go wherever the current took him.
But Chu Feng could still see the changes around him. At first, everything was bathed in golden light, but it quickly gave way to darkness. Though it was dark, faint streaks of light kept flashing past, and he could sense that those streaks were actually numerous beyond count.
The only problem was that he and Wang Qiang were moving far too fast for Chu Feng to make any of it out clearly.
Still, a vague guess formed in his mind — those must be stars. He had already left the Eastern Sea Region; more precisely, he had left the Ancestral Martial Lower Realm and entered the vast, boundless expanse of the starry sky.
In other words, the legendary Outer World.
Hummmm—
At last, the endless corridor ahead of Chu Feng came to an end, and a single beam of light appeared.
That light grew brighter and brighter, like a blazing sun, and a wave of searing heat descended along with it.
Chu Feng and Wang Qiang were swiftly engulfed by the brilliance and the heat, as though they had plunged straight into the heart of the sun. The sensation was far from pleasant.
However, that feeling lasted only an instant before vanishing, and the blinding light disappeared along with it.
Before long, Chu Feng realized that his previously bound arms and legs had been restored to freedom.
He looked around and was delighted to discover that he was now deep beneath the ocean floor.
"Have we entered the O-Outer… Outer World?" Wang Qiang asked Chu Feng, his face brimming with barely concealed excitement.
"Why don't we head out and find out?" Chu Feng smiled faintly, then launched himself upward together with Wang Qiang, the two of them shooting toward the surface at breakneck speed.
Splash—!
The water churned violently as Chu Feng and Wang Qiang burst out of the sea like two soaring dragons.
But there was no one in sight. Above stretched a sky of blue and white clouds; below lay an endless expanse of rolling waves, crashing and thundering without end.
"Wait, isn't this the E-Eastern… Eastern Sea Region?" Wang Qiang's jaw dropped, his face a picture of disappointment.
"No, this should be the Hundred Refinements Realm," Chu Feng said.
"How do you know?" Wang Qiang asked.
"Feel the heaven and earth energy here — it's so abundant, so dense. Forget the Eastern Sea Region; even the Martial Sacred Continent pales in comparison," Chu Feng explained.
Hearing this, Wang Qiang closed his eyes and carefully felt the surrounding heaven and earth energy. When he opened them again, the excitement had returned to his face. "You're right — so this really isn't the Eastern Sea Region, but the H-Hundred… Hundred Refinements Realm?"
"Then where exactly are we? Is this the… the Hundred Refinements Battlefield you mentioned? But how come it's just the two of us?" Wang Qiang asked curiously.
"There are only two possibilities…"
"First, this place is enormous. Even if we're inside the Hundred Refinements Battlefield, we might not be able to see anyone around us."
"Second, the Heavenly Staircase we used bypassed the guiding force. So while we're in the Hundred Refinements Realm, we're not actually inside the Hundred Refinements Battlefield," Chu Feng explained.
"That makes sense. Either w-way… whatever, who cares — let's g-go… go take a stroll." Wang Qiang glanced around, then spun toward a particular direction and pointed. "Come on, let's head this way — the coastline is closer from here."
With that, he set off in the direction he had chosen.
"He's got some skills," Chu Feng murmured to himself with quiet admiration.
They were both Spirit World Masters, but to be able to tell which direction the coastline lay by reading the surface of such a vast, seemingly infinite ocean — that was not something just anyone could do. Chu Feng could manage it, but he genuinely had not expected Wang Qiang to pull it off as well.
Seeing that Wang Qiang possessed such ability, Chu Feng felt a little more confident. The two of them were about to venture into this unknown Outer World together, and the more tools they had at their disposal, the better.
