"What is it, Mieshi? Could it be that you're afraid?" the Master of the Dark Hall asked.
"My Lord, this Chu Feng is not easy to deal with. If we leave him be, I fear we will be raising a tiger that will eventually turn on us," Immortal Mieshi said.
"There is no need to fear. Chu Feng has always been within my control. If I wish to kill him, I can do so at any time."
"Moreover, he won't be living much longer. When that time comes, I will permit you to kill him in my stead — to avenge your son," the Master of the Dark Hall said.
"Thank you, my Lord."
Hearing these words, Immortal Mieshi was overjoyed. He had desperately wanted to end Chu Feng with his own hands, but previously the Master of the Dark Hall had always insisted that only he himself could kill Chu Feng. That had deeply frustrated Immortal Mieshi.
He absolutely had to be the one to kill Chu Feng. Only then would his son's revenge be truly fulfilled. Yet he had always feared that if he killed Chu Feng, the Master of the Dark Hall would punish him, and so this had remained a knot in his heart.
But now the Master of the Dark Hall had granted him permission to kill Chu Feng. The knot was untied. He could torment and kill Chu Feng without any reservations. For him, this was cause for great joy.
"My Lord, however, there are still some things I do not understand," Immortal Mieshi continued.
"What don't you understand?" the Master of the Dark Hall asked.
"The Heavenly Dao Palace and the Human Manor — those are one thing. If they lost, Chu Feng would naturally force them to hand over their secret techniques."
"But how can you be certain that Hell's Gate will definitely hand over the Earth Immortal Secret Technique to Chu Feng?" Immortal Mieshi asked with great confusion.
He could understand why the Heavenly Dao Palace and the Human Manor would lose their attack on Qingmu Mountain — the order to attack had come from the Master of the Dark Hall himself. And before giving that order, the Master had already known that Hell's Gate and the Ancient Elves had gone to Qingmu Mountain, and that Lianghua and the others were there as well. Under those circumstances, defeat for the Heavenly Dao Palace and the Human Manor was inevitable.
However, the very beginning of this plan had been to let Chu Feng obtain the secret techniques and encourage him to fuse them together.
This raised several questions he could not comprehend — namely, the Earth Immortal Secret Technique was so precious, so how could Hell's Gate possibly hand it over to Chu Feng without reason?
"That is simple. Hell's Gate keeping the Earth Immortal Secret Technique is actually useless to them. But Chu Feng already possesses four secret techniques, and since he wishes to form an alliance with Qingmu Mountain and the Ancient Elves, he would naturally use the Earth Immortal Secret Technique to help bring that about," the Master of the Dark Hall explained.
"My Lord's foresight is truly admirable. I am in awe. But… how did you know that Chu Feng would be able to fuse the secret techniques?" Immortal Mieshi continued.
"I didn't know whether he would succeed."
"He comes from beyond this world, which means he is far stronger than anyone from the Sacred Land of Martial Arts. So having him attempt the fusion always held at least a sliver of hope. I simply didn't expect that he would actually succeed," the Master of the Dark Hall said.
"So even my Lord couldn't be certain Chu Feng would succeed. But what if he had failed? Then Chu Feng would have—" Immortal Mieshi was visibly shocked.
"If he failed, he would simply die. He will die sooner or later regardless — as if I would be afraid of his death?"
"Ha ha ha…" The Master of the Dark Hall let out another burst of laughter. As the laughter faded, he vanished into the void and departed into the distance.
The mysterious woman followed right behind the Master of the Dark Hall and left as well.
Now, only Immortal Mieshi remained. His expression was somewhat conflicted.
He suddenly realized that he understood this Master of the Dark Hall less and less. But it was precisely for that reason that he willingly submitted to him — only a person like this was truly worthy of his service.
