"Wanyu, what are you talking about?" Ma Kun asked.
"Master, I'm telling the truth. It's a trap—we can't go there to die," Qiu Wanyu said.
"Really? Then how do you know it's a trap?" Ma Kun asked.
At that moment, Qiu Wanyu didn't know how to respond, because she had promised Qing Xuantian that she wouldn't tell her Master that this was something Qing Xuantian had told her.
"I said it," Qing Xuantian suddenly spoke up.
He had noticed that Qiu Wanyu was in a difficult position, and he didn't want to put her on the spot, so he took the initiative to speak.
"You?" Ma Kun glared at Qing Xuantian but said nothing more to him. Instead, he turned toward Qiu Wanyu and shouted, "Wanyu, what is going on? If you don't explain this to me clearly today, I will not let you off lightly."
Ma Kun was genuinely furious now. After all, their trip to Ghost Mist Mountain was a secret that was not to be leaked.
But now Qing Xuantian somehow knew about it, and Ma Kun's first reaction was that Qiu Wanyu must have told him.
With things having come to this, Qiu Wanyu had no choice but to recount exactly what had happened.
After hearing Qiu Wanyu's explanation, the originally furious Ma Kun actually calmed down.
But his calmness was only on the surface. Beneath that composed exterior lurked a raging storm.
He walked up to Qing Xuantian, then swept his sleeve back. With a sharp clang, the long sword at his back was drawn and leveled directly at Qing Xuantian.
"No wonder you've been so abnormal, so different from an ordinary child. Turns out you're a monster in disguise," Ma Kun said, pointing at Qing Xuantian.
"A monster?" Qing Xuantian was momentarily bewildered, but soon a mocking smile curled at the corner of his lips. "Foolish."
"Master, how could Xiao Tian possibly be a monster? If he were a monster, why would he tell me all of this?" Qiu Wanyu hurriedly stepped in front of Qing Xuantian, shielding him behind her, terrified that her Master would make a move against him.
"He's so young—how could he possibly know so much? There's only one answer: he's not a child at all, but a monster disguised as one."
"I was wondering how a child ended up wandering into that forest, and how a child could be so calm and composed. Now everything makes sense."
Ma Kun said through gritted teeth as he glared at Qing Xuantian, now thoroughly convinced that Qing Xuantian was truly a monster.
This couldn't really be blamed on him. After all, Qing Xuantian's behavior had indeed been far from normal.
"No, that can't be right. If he were a monster, would we have made it here safely?" Qiu Wanyu said.
"He's not powerful enough, so he's been spouting nonsense to bewitch us and keep us from going to Ghost Mist Mountain," Ma Kun said.
"No, that's not it at all. Xiao Tian definitely cannot be a monster. He's a member of the Qing Family—that's why he knows so much."
"Master, I've already told you—before this, the sect leader of our sect went to ask Xiao Tian's uncle for his assistance. That is how Xiao Tian knows all of this," Qiu Wanyu explained desperately.
"Wanyu, you truly are foolish. You actually believe he's the young master of the Qing Family? You actually believe a word he says?" Ma Kun grew even more furious.
