Dragon Scale could hardly believe his ears.
Chu Feng was actually asking him to speed up?
Looking more closely, he noticed that Chu Feng's face had lost the twisted expression it had worn before.
The pain he was enduring had clearly lessened considerably — or perhaps he had simply grown accustomed to it.
Seeing this, Dragon Scale turned his gaze toward the dragon marrow, even wondering whether something had gone wrong with it.
But the dragon marrow was fine — still as violent, domineering, and savage as ever.
If the marrow was fine, then it had to be Chu Feng. Chu Feng was simply too powerful.
So Dragon Scale smiled. "Young friend Chu Feng, you are truly extraordinary."
"Nothing extraordinary about me — that compass wouldn't have chosen me otherwise. Senior, please, hurry it up," Chu Feng replied with a grin.
This was the first time Dragon Scale had ever seen someone laugh while having dragon marrow infused into their body.
In truth, forget laughing — he had never even seen anyone who could still speak after the process began.
In his memory, all those people did was scream. They screamed and screamed until they had no strength left, or until their voices gave out entirely.
He himself had been no exception.
Though it was hard to believe, this was undoubtedly excellent news for Dragon Scale, so he did as Chu Feng asked and began to accelerate the process.
Chu Feng's face twisted once more, but he did not let out a single wail. He held on.
"Worthy indeed of Jie Ranqing's son," Dragon Scale could not help but praise.
Upon hearing this, Chu Feng asked, "Senior, you've never actually met my mother, have you?"
Although his mother was famous, when she had roamed the vast cultivation world, Dragon Scale had still been trapped in the Lower Realm of the Ancestral Martial Continent.
"I have never met her, no. But after I returned, I heard many stories of what she accomplished."
"However, what you have done is no less impressive than your mother's deeds," Dragon Scale sighed.
"I could never compare to my mother, but I won't disgrace her name either," Chu Feng said.
And so, as the two conversed, the terrifying dragon marrow was fully absorbed into Chu Feng's body.
"Chu Feng, how does it feel?"
The tremor in Dragon Scale's voice was unmistakable.
This being — powerful enough to topple the entire Totem Dragon Clan — was actually nervous.
He was terrified. Terrified of failure.
"The refinement will take some time, but aside from that, there should be no problems," Chu Feng answered.
"Good. That's wonderful."
Dragon Scale clenched his fists in excitement. For the first time, he was truly looking at a glimmer of hope.
"Senior, will I be able to move freely around here?" Chu Feng asked.
"Of course. Anywhere outside the sealed areas is open to you," Dragon Scale said.
He then prepared a place for Chu Feng to stay.
But the moment Dragon Scale left, the voice of the Heaven-Devouring Qilin rang out immediately: "Kid, you're not seriously planning to stay here like an idiot, are you? Tell me you're going to run."
"Why would I run?" Chu Feng asked.
"The dragon marrow is as good as ours. Just let me devour it, and I can convert it into power to boost your cultivation," the Heaven-Devouring Qilin said.
"So what you sensed was this dragon marrow?" Chu Feng asked again.
"Not just that — there's an even stronger aura. That guy is holding something back."
"I'd bet that ancestral dragon remnant he mentioned isn't as simple as he made it sound."
"But do you actually have a chance to get close to it?" the Heaven-Devouring Qilin said.
"Do you know the exact location?" Chu Feng asked.
"This forbidden ground is strange. There must be powerful formations at work — even I can't tell," the Heaven-Devouring Qilin said.
"If even you can't figure it out, how am I supposed to find it? I can't exactly ask him where the ancestral dragon remnant is," Chu Feng said.
"You could ask him, actually. Just tell him you have a feeling that if you were closer to the ancestral dragon remnant, the refinement of the dragon marrow would be more effective."
